Congratulations to the Four U-M Players in the Super Bowl
We'll be well-represented on Super Bowl Sunday. All four of these players played significant roles during the regular season and/or playoffs. Congratulations to:
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
Brandon Graham
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Frank Clark
Mike Danna
Chad Henne

Danna was a monster yesterday. He has had a pretty damn good run with the Chiefs but he noticeably stood out yesterday.

Danna has been in the 2-deep pretty much since rookie training camp with the Chiefs. Solid for a smaller frame DL, has had some injuries but definitely playing well alongside Frank Clark - who's basically a one-trick pony with speed off the edge.
Danna's another DL that should have been turned loose at UM - but instead was stuck in a Don Brown system.

Despite the team struggling in 2008 and 2009, Brandon Graham was one of the most dominant players I've seen at M. He couldn't be blocked.
January 30th, 2023 at 12:49 PM ^
He seemed to be everywhere and moving faster than anyone else on the field. I couldn't help but notice him as he was big and generally moving faster than anyone around him.

He was unreal. His performance in the 2009 Ohio St game was incredible in a losing effort. He single handedly kept M in that game. He deserved better.

Sparty asking quite a bit of their tight end to get that block on an All-American. He YOLO'd it and hard to blame him.

I don't know how that would rank on a list of top 10 best defensive plays by Michigan of all time... but it certainly is one of my favorite.
I'm thinking Woodson's interception vs. MSU might be #1

"Struggling" is putting it nicely. The 2008 and 2009 Michigan football teams might have been the worst two-year stretch in Michigan football history. The 2008 team is the worst team in modern Michigan football. And yet there was BG flying around like an animal on those teams. He could have mailed it in, but he never did.

ESPN had a nice thing on BG on their front page yesterday.

Thank you for posting. That's very cool, spread the love.

Pretty sure you'll get some more points from me & others if you post on the MB Mooseman - this is awesome.

Do these 4 players span the last 4 coaches we've had as well?
Henne- Lloyd... Graham- RichRod... Clark- Hoke... Danna- harbs
January 30th, 2023 at 4:42 PM ^
Brandon Graham was a Carr recruit that spanned both Carr and Rodriguez, but he was the face of the first two Rodriguez teams so this is probably splitting hairs.
January 30th, 2023 at 6:12 PM ^
I noticed this as well. Graham played for both Carr and Rodriguez. Clark started the same year as Hoke, and Danna had a year under Harbaugh.

Frank Clark's post game interview on the field was an embarrassment.
January 30th, 2023 at 2:23 PM ^
Most Chiefs fans have been done with Frank for the past 2 years. Especially after the most recent gun issues. But he always plays better in the playoffs. That said, I'd be surprised if he's still around next year - with the escalators in his contract.

Decisions, decisions. I've lived in KC as a kid, lived in Philadelphia as an adult. Which team do I root for?
(The choice wouldn't have been easier with other outcomes. I also lived in the Bay Area—Oakland & Berkeley—and spent lots of time in Cincinnati.)

Is Oakland still in play?

I love seeing Brandon Graham have so much success late in his career. He is such a bad ass
January 30th, 2023 at 1:21 PM ^
... also makes me feel less old
January 30th, 2023 at 1:48 PM ^
haha no doubt! Didnt think of it that way, even better.
January 30th, 2023 at 1:46 PM ^
I love BG. He toiled and gave his all for some of the worst teams in Michigan football history. He was the lone bright spot during some dark times, and it is fun to see him rewarded with success and long career in Philadelphia. There are few players who can say they won the Big Ten MVP Silver Football on a losing team that only won one Big Ten game, but BG is that dude.

I'm really excited for 3 of the 4 guys on this list.
January 30th, 2023 at 1:45 PM ^
Mr. Danna had quite an impact in yesterday's game.

The famous Penn State graphic gets passed around every year - "Penn Stater has played in every Super Bowl since 1967*"
*Except Five
I wonder what that stat looks like for UM.
January 30th, 2023 at 2:09 PM ^
I don't cheer for Frank Clark because (insert snarky virtue signaling comment here) but I'll cheer for the other guys because they're "Michigan Men". I'm sure Frank doesn't give a shit about whiny, middle aged assholes on a sports blog. And he shouldn't.

It´s impressive that B Graham is still playing at such a high level.
I remember watiching him play at the Big House, it was always clear he was a stud and was going to have a great carreer. I think the Eagles win it this year.

Well since KC has more 〽️ players, I want the Chiefs to win.
