He moved back for family reasons, so I wish him the best.  But I'm not surprised that he's not doing much in Chip Kelly's offense.  Kelly doesn't rest his philosophy on the TE's shoulders, besides the fact that UCLA has ... not much ... talent in house.  He'd probably be doing better had Speight not been injured before the first game, but still he wouldn't be lighting the world on fire.

I really hope his family's situation (ie: his move back to SoCal) didn't cost him a shot with the NFL...

Wow, I had forgotten all about Ian Bunting. Doing well too. Good for him.

Asiasi is being "sparsely used." Oops.

Kareem Walker. Just ugh.

But they're winning with defense. Their offense is 117th in S&P right now, and the Michigan transfers they have are all offensive players. That was my point, that their offense is garbage, so I don't really know what the Michigan guys are contributing to their success.

Agreed. The two transfers who I think have made a significant impact have been defensive players: Keith Washington and Brian Cole. Which makes sense. If a player could not contribute to Michigan's offense during the last couple years, I don't see how that is going to change much somewhere else.

Michigan's defense has been extremely good though, and I can see how some guys who were buried on the depth chart may shine given the opportunity.

Really? I can't believe anyone who read the article would make that comment. It was quite informative and I found it interesting.

Here's a sample for people who haven't looked at it.

WR FREDDY CANTEEN -- Tulane

Games played: 0

After an injury plagued college career at Michigan and Notre Dame, Canteen suffered a shoulder injury in preseason camp that left him sidelined for the season. He had seven career catches before arriving at Tulane, including a touchdown against Ohio State as a freshman at Michigan in 2016.

I look at that often and enjoy catching up on guys who have left.  I will admit to getting a little irritated about the writing though.  The fact that Wilton Speight ran four times in a game for "-2 yards" is not a relevant statistic, nor is the fact that a player's interception went for "0 yards."   Anyway, I know, free content, yayada, just a little gripe on a gripey Monday.

I'm not trying to win the Pulitzer, nor am I watching 20 different games every weekend. It's a collection of statistics.

READER: "Oh, how many yards did he get on that pick? Should I look for a clip of an awesome 75-yard return on Twitter or Youtube?"

ME: "He made 1 interception for 0 yards."

READER: "Cool, I won't waste my time trying to look for it."

I don't have the time or inclination to write 3,000 flowery words every week about a bunch of (mostly) mediocre players who either never played for Michigan or transferred out.

Three guys that I wish were still around:

Wheatley Jr.

Asiasi

Walker

I get that Walker leaving was probably grades and Asiasi was for personal reasons, but from a football standpoint they would have been great to have this year.

Disagree.

Asiasi was very promising in 2016. Trajectory says he likely would have been pretty good this year.

Walker would have played a bit, especially after Evans got hurt. He has (had?) more upside than Tru Wilson (no offense to WIlson).

Wheatley Jr. likely would have been a nice asset in jumbo packages.
