They were very happy to cover it when they thought it was all about Michigan cheating. Now they're reluctant because it's apparent that Michigan is a victim.

I still can't quite figure out why Alabama decided this was necessary. Michigan is not the one stealing data from Catapult.

The charitable view of Bama is they just simply decided better safe than sorry, not worth the risk if Catapult is having any possible issues. The cynical view is they let it slip the way they did on purpose to try to make it seem like Michigan was up to no good and cause a distraction.

@Henson Mobile,

Because once the data is out there, it starts getting leaked and shared between teams- just like OSU colluding with other teams to share UM’s signs.

All of this was a huge nothing burger, but Day, media, and Pettite (most likely because he is a tv guy and not a football guy and was bullied into believing bs by opposing coaches because he lacks knowledge on how common this all is), went all in on destroying UM’s season and gaslighting Harbaugh and staff on the one thing Harbaugh holds most dear - fair competition.

Day is so cringe and a coward and soft as shit coach - accusing others of that which you are guilty of- and possibly much worse- is a classic passive aggressive, born on 3rd move.  Everything about OSU under Day is glorious and absurd..the crying, the softness, the excuses to the unhinged rants- Lou Holtz, penguin pregame whistle dance, stressing on signing day about 5 stars! like a fan in a chat room. He’s broken their program and fanbase- no matter the talent they recruit.

Dude is just not built for this.  OSU is a top 3-5 program/HC job in CFB. Nothing about Ryan Day suggests he can handle the stress and responsibilities of running a multi billion dollar enterprise.

tldr: Stole signs and that can be shared; Ryan Day is bitchmade

I still can't quite figure out why Alabama decided this was necessary.

I don't think it was an orchestrated PR attack on Michigan by Alabama.  The Alabama players being interviewed interpreted their restrictions on using personal devices as a Michigan thing since that is all they have been hearing for the last 2 months.

As far as putting restrictions on them using personal devices, that's a Saban paranoia thing.  Once he got wind that there may have been some Catapult issues, he implemented them.  So did we.

I disagree.. the opener isn’t fair - which is against Akron.  The B1G needs to look into this, and - Petitti needs to issue his ruling on Friday - October 11th - when the Bucks are on their flight to play at Oregon.

The three (or more) game stretch would be 1) at Oregon, 2) hosting Nebraska, and 3) at Penn State.

I don't see anything new from yesterday except a tweet that asserts it's OSU under investigation. They're just assuming it's OSU based on circumstantial evidence which, again, is not new. There are no sources that indicated it's OSU under investigation.

Using the last few months as a guide, it looks like there is enough to DROP THE HAMMER.  Maybe THE DEATH PENALTY.  Where is the Big Ten and Pee-titty?

Whatever...  ESPN had the chance on Gameday to say something about this, but they did not.  They chose just to say that Alabama stopped watching film on their iPads.  In a throw-away sentence at the end of the piece, Herbstreit also said Michigan threw away their iPads.

That's all there was to it.  Don't expect any of this to get much traction nationally.

To be fair, there really isn’t much to this story for them to go on outside of Michigan and Bama saying they stopped using the cloud and someone confirming that there is an investigation. There aren’t any real details right now, what do you want them to say?

Once there’s some clarity on which university(s) are being investigated and the full scope of the investigation, I’d expect it becomes more of a national story. But so far there’s been nothing from the NCAA and Catapult has only confirmed that they’re investigating it internally and cooperating with external investigations. Not much for ESPN or anyone else to go on.

I don’t know that I’d say they weren’t showing any different restraint before. When there are details to report on, they report on the details. Their reporting may have seemed one sided with the sign stealing stuff, but how much of that is the fact that the NCAA controlled the narrative and what details were leaked while Michigan can’t comment on an ongoing investigation? So the details they had, were strongly against Michigan. Which allowed people like Thamel to really run with it.

Waiting for all the analysis of

OSU with Catapult vs.

OSU without Catapult

You know, like how non-knowers of ball tried to analyze JJ without without accounting for level of competition or injury.

IF this is true, this is still not nearly as embarrassing or egregious for OSU as:

1) last night’s nationally televised Cotton Bowl debacle

2) their quarterback room

3) their offensive line

4) their special teams

5) Ryan Day’s pre-game spasmodic convulsions with a whistle in his mouth

6) Ryan Day’s calling out of 118-year old Lou Holtz

7) Ryan Day in general

I could go on but I’m laughing too hard right now - lolololol
