Cade… what have you gotten yourself into? Epic PSU-Iowa stats

Submitted by superstringer on September 24th, 2023 at 1:28 PM

Look at some of these nutso stats from the Iowa “game” (using that word euphemistically) last night:

**Iowa had the same number of turnovers as first downs (four)

**Penn State scored just two more points than Iowa had offensive plays (31 to 33)

**Penn State had more rushing attempts (57) than Iowa had passing yards (56)

**Iowa’s total rushing yards (20) were nearly matched on one rush by Penn State running back Nicholas Singleton (19 yard long)

**Iowa had six total fumbles (four lost)

**Penn State QB Drew Allar nearly had as many passing attempts (37) as Iowa QB Cade McNamara had passing yards

**Iowa posted a total of 20 rushing yards on 17 attempts (0.8 yards per attempt)

Brian Frerentz has turned a functional QB like Cade into hawkpoop.  Yeah I knkw they were down their beat TE and both RBs… but srsly. And now Brian is waaay behind his 25 pt/game threshold… if Daddy Kirk even lets him finish the year. Oh who are we kidding, he probably will get a job promotion this week for effort.

Btw… if this is not a new level of a “Rutger” then it should be.

I think this was a Karate Kid III scenario.

Iowa's defensive coordinator vows to shut down Cade and the Wolverines in the B1G Championship game. We all know how that went. He vows revenge.

I'm picturing Cade working with Brian Ferentz in the quarterback room, frustrated with the outcome and in walks Phil Parker clapping his hands like John Kreese.

I still believe that Cade was a decent QB in 2021. He held the position down, made a play here and there, and didn't screw it up. After watching their nightmarish offense last year, I figured that's all Iowa needed in a QB to be a dangerous team.

Damn, was I ever wrong. It really does not matter who Iowa has at quarterback or any other position on offense. Brian Ferentz is a complete, unmitigated disaster. For all we know, Spencer Petras could have been a decently talented player with potential until he was forced to run that horrific nightmare of terribleness.

I really hope that Iowa ends up making a change at OC. Given a choice between another game's commercial break and Iowa with the football, the former would probably be more entertaining.

Yeah. It's not like I thought Cade would have an All-America year or anything, but I thought having a quarterback with his experience and game-management skills was exactly what they needed to at least be ... competent.

Turns out their problems are much much greater than I (or, I assume, than he) knew.

I doubt he's regretting leaving Michigan, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that he now wishes he had chosen another program to transfer to.

I'm grateful for Cade's time at Michigan and how things went during his time here.

I wish him and Eric All well at Iowa.

It was grim vs. Penn State, but I will be interested to see how it is going forward.  Sometimes teams have a horrible game, but that is the low point, and they look much better in other games.  I hope that's the case for Iowa.

I like to see all former Michigan players do well where they end up.

I want to see Milton do well, too, and Bowman.

Before the season, I figured Iowa would have a decent chance at winning the West.  I think now it looks like Wisconsin is the leader.  But there's a lot of football left.

Cade should have never went to Iowa. I don't know what options he had but that's the last place a QB that won a conference championship and made an appearance in CFP should go play.
