cade and Joe's numbers for 2020 were pretty comparable. Again, the Rutgers game is what people lean on.

Joe Milton 2020:

80-141 (56.7%) 1077 yards. 4 tds 4 ints. 7.6 yards per attempt.

cade 2020:

43-71 (60.6%) 425 yards. 5 tds 0 ints. 6 yards per attempt.

Going back to Joe though, he played with a broken thumb which required surgery. There's a stark contrast between the numbers before and after his broken thumb. The Milton meme is funny, but also unfair. His numbers before the broken thumb are consistent with his numbers since going to Tennessee. There's absolutely no question that the broken thumb impacted his performance.

Brian's 2020 Indiana UFR supports Joe's performance and ability. Even at cade's best, I don't remembers such a glowing ufr.

Joe Milton 2022-23 at Tennesse:

133 - 213 (62.44%) 1896 yards. 18 tds 1 int. 8.9 yards per attempt.

Joe's first three games of 2020:

65-107 (60.7%) 869 yards. 4 tds and 2 ints. 8.12 yards per attempt.

Injured Joe's next/final three games of 2020:

15-34 (44.1%) 208 yards. 0 tds and 2 ints. 6.1 yards per attempt.

Cade 2020 sans Rutgers:

16-35 (45.7%) 165 yards. 1 td and 0 ints. 4.71 yards per attempt.

Cade 2020 Rutgers:

27- 36 (75%) 260 yards. 4 tds and 0 ints. 7.22 yards per attempt.

Ehhh....Yes, Michigan beat OSU and won the Big Ten, but I sincerely believe that a significant number of Power 5 QBs (and several Group of 5 QBs as well) could have been the starter for UM in 2021 and accomplished the same results. McNamara was about the eighth most important player on that starting squad.

I think a lot of people are accounting for what Cade himself has said and how Cade behaved the latter half of the season more than the things that have come out more recently. Based on the reactions of people who are much closer to the program than we are, the sources for the behind the scenes situation seem more legit than you've portrayed above. It was a tough situation for him. Other team leaders seem to have handled their difficulties in ways that still supported the team and have left more gracefully. Cade burned the bridge with fans and probably knew he was doing it.

Long article posted a while back.  I’m sure you could find it.  Hearsay upon hearsay propped up by speculation about Cade not being a great teammate, most notably not being besties with the QB brought to campus to take his spot, and his dad being such a jerk that he EVEN… suggested Cade transfer after 2021 because it was clear he wasn’t going to play the next season.

It’s not like it’s a bunch of rumors. It’s pretty clear that there was a concerted effort to not throw Cade under the bus for his attitude and keep silent.  The mist telling us devin Gardner saying to Sam Webb “ oh, we can tell the truth about that now?”

Cade was a great game manager and what we needed at the time.  No one should or can take that away from him. However, tarnishing his personal legacy is all on him and his actions towards jj and his departure.

Eh, he strikes me as one of those perpetually aggrieved guys who constantly thinks everyone is against him. He'd have fit in perfectly at Staee, TBH. It's fine, almost endearing, when he's harnessing it to win big games for us, but I think it was pretty clear the minute things stopped going well, the attitude would be turned against the program. I don't necessarily buy all the rumors, but he's given enough direct quotes himself to convince me he wasn't exactly a great teammate once JJ won the job. Kinda sounds like that's happening again at Iowa now too.

This is the perfect answer.  Brian Ferentz needed to be fired yesterday and if his dad isn’t going to say it somebody has to.

And it wasn’t just nobody open on Saturday.  McNamara was under immediate pressure every time he dropped back.

Iowa needs a new coaching staff.  The Ferentz era is long over.

I think Iowa fans are worried that Iowa, who has been pretty consistently good-not-great and whose offense only recently became a complete dumpster fire, will go the way of Nebraska if they go another direction with their coaching. That said, they won't have the luxury of playing in the B1G West much longer and those good-not-great records are going to come down to Earth.

Yeah, it's such a tough break for the young man to transfer under false pretenses, only for Iowa to switch OCs on him in the offseason... oh wait.

You knew what you signed up for, Cade.

The offensive line is terrible, which is the biggest surprise. They were terrible the past two seasons and had nowhere to go but better this season, but it hasn't happened. Cade is limited and also hurt to some degree but no one could function well behind that sieve of an OL. If it doesn't get fixed quickly--which seems very unlikely--this really could be the beginning of the end for Ferentz the dad.

Notice also that Cade refers to him as ‘Brian’ - not Coach Ferentz. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a Michigan guy call a coach by their first name in public…

“Whatever Brian thinks is the best way to get Kaleb Brown involved, I’m all for it,” McNamara said.

This made me think of something funny actually.

My son was at summer camp this year and former Michigan walk-on WR Nate Schoenle happened to be his counselor. At the time, Nate was sporting a very handsome moustache that would make Brad Robbins proud. Nate's younger brother was also a counselor at the camp, so my son referred to Nate's brother as "Mr. Schoenle the Younger" and Nate as "Mr. Schoenle, the Moustache." LOL

Referring to Brian Ferentz as "Coach" Ferentz is really an insult to coaches of all kinds everywhere.

This includes my 11 year old nephew who recently took on a player-coaching role for his co-ed soccer team when the actual adult coach had an early season flu bug. Good news is the team scored 7 goals that day which I assume will be more points than Iowa will score this Saturday.

So if the Hawkeyes ever want to play the Valley City Linen Raccoons (they're sponsored by some industrial linen folding company but get to pick their mascot), I'm expecting a tough game.

Iowa was such an odd landing place for a QB who has a B1G ring on his finger as well as a playoff appearance. It's obvious to the entire world that Brian Ferentz is not a good coach. What did Cade think he could accomplish there? I just can't believe that there were no other options, or that Iowa was the best option he had.

I think the idea was that Iowa has typically been able to run the ball pretty well and field a good defense, and in the West, just plug in a decent QB and you got yourself a winner.

But I think the culture had soured at Iowa to an extent you really can’t see from the outside.  Ferentz has just been there too long.  They gotta get him out of there.
