A recipe for a tidal wave of portal exits. You do understand losing the coach is a no-win outcome. It's all negativity from pr, recruiting and team departure standpoint. This program we have now will not be the same for years if this happens. Just keep that in mind.

I think the coach is pretty disillusioned at this point, suffering while he's at the top of his coaching game at Michigan. I don't think he really wants to leave in spite of all the NFL waffling. If that were true, he would already be gone.

The Panthers job is the best of the current NFL openings depending who gets fired or quits later today or tomorrow. Carolina has a decent young roster, two league-hardened qbs and a forgiving sports market without a probing press. You can put your stamp on this team fairly quickly and get it to the playoffs.

Frustration with a contract situation and reaction to outside regulation, ought not be the driving influences in the outcome of this challenge for Harbaugh's future services. There needs to be a sit-down to iron it out and negotiate a deal everyone can live with at Michigan because that's where he ultimately belongs.

Winning at the college and pro level are two different grinds. And Harbaugh is the only coach in America who has successfully worked both of them which is why he remains in demand by the NFL. This won't change until the school decides keeping Harbaugh is more important to it than having him leave. Michigan deserves to know what his coaching desires and choices are.

But understand, this school doesn't do coaching changes well unless it has a no-brainer choice, which Harbaugh is.

I said it this week when this first came out. Ono needs to grab warde and walk to Harbaugh's office with the biggest contract in college football with a $100,000,000 buyout in one hand and a resignation letter in the other and make him choose, then and there. If he wants the NFL, I wish him nothing but the best of luck. But we can't do this anymore.

Sure, fire Harbaugh and bring in the next Richrod.  Or maybe the next Brady Hoke is available?  Remember all the years Alabama floundered with Shula’s kid et al.?  Mack Brown didn’t win enough Texas, and they have sucked since they fired him.  ND had Gerry Faust.  Finding a great coach isn’t like snapping your fingers.  If we can keep Harbaugh, we should keep him—although this NFL flirtation cannot become a yearly thing.  He needs to accept that if he wants to stay.

Had JH not promised WM last year that this NFL dalliance was not going to continue, had he not said pretty unequivocally just one month ago that he would be back in 2023, had he not put out a wishy-washy statement that nevertheless ended with "those who stay will be champions", then I might agree with this given what he has accomplished.  However, given that all of those things did happen, and literally within 72 hours of posting a message that ended with a giant "those who stay will be champions" it's now come out that he's interviewing with NFL teams again, then maybe it's time for WM to start coming up with contingency plans instead of waiting for this soap opera to play out and then react.
