Good news is the market looks like it might be recovering somewhat.

Bad news is it appears you’re going to need to cash out soon to pay off our bet.

Seriously though I truly believe this is being wholly fueled by the NCAA investigation into two cheeseburgers, not money.   It has to drive him insane to be the NCAA punching bag (they really do hate him/us) while they blissfully look the other way on actual, big time violations.  And they block things like satellite camps to preserve the SEC dominance in southern recruiting.

And I also believe Warde’s predictable silence on this matter probably bothers him too (it sure would me FWIW).  The two times we really needed Warde to come out swinging for Michigan (2016 OSU debacle & now this) he has turtled.

Get your dollar ready my friend, he’s gone.

“The two times we really needed Warde to come out swinging for Michigan (2016 OSU debacle & now this) he has turtled.”

Manuel should have had a new contract needing only Harbaugh’s signature waiting for him on the bus back to A2 from Columbus.

I don't think he really cares about the contract and money.  But I'd say he'd flip for some actual public support from Warde.  As MGrow said, Warde turtles instead of offering public support.  A lot of people side with him for that, saying 'behind the scenes' work gets more done.  But there are times when public support is required in such a public business as this.  This is, again, one of those times...

Agree completely with your NCAA punching bag comment.  One reason the NCAA targets us is because we just take whatever bs the NCAA throws at us which gives them legitimacy.  If we just did what Arizona, North Carolina, LSU, other did and told them to go pound sand, they might stop this crap.  Warde is definitely not the type of AD to do that though.

Why are you so convinced he's gone?  Isn't it possible that everything Jim has said is accurate?  That he loves it here, but there are some non-zero scenarios in which he could leave (i.e., a pro team offers him $20M per year and UM can only match at $10M per year).  Or that NCAA violations create some type of legal trigger that makes Warde's job much more difficult in the near term?  I'm not sure how you come down on the side of "he's gone" given the razor presented, but okay.  Is it possible he leaves?  Absolutely - if Denver is desperate enough and Payton isn't an option.  UM is not going to match $20M.  But the evidence suggests that he's more inclined to stay than split given the data we have.  The reality is probably what Jim has said all along... Happy here, and most likely will be here next year, but non-zero chance he's not.  And the non-zero scenarios do NOT contradict anything that he has said publicly.

This feels like the case where you convince yourself your team will lose so that, if it happens, you're slightly less disappointed, but if they win, you're pleasantly surprised.

It's a Zoom interview, which gives me a sense this is a bit more of a show than an actual interview.  I assume he wants an extension and is also dealing with this dumb NCAA investigation.  I'll be interested to see if this interview turns into anything.

I have no clue what to think. Hope he stays. Maybe he’s talking, maybe not.

But I also have to think that the media outlets love the free clicks they can generate with the last names Harbaugh, Payton, etc.

Issue with Kalen is he is a west coast guy. Even while at Indiana he wanted back out there.

Guy I work with coached Kalen’s daughter in softball. Great story on how Kalen wanted wanted Pennix to start at IU and Allen overruled himz

He was at Eastern for three years and Southern Illinois as well. Dude coached at some of the worst jobs in the country while living in the Midwest.

Michigan has more resources than any job he has before. Plus Washington is in a bit of a bind with conference realignment.

Listen SQ I’m just telling you what KD wanted. I understand he was in the Midwest coaching. It’s not where he wanted to be. Does that mean if Michigan came calling he’d say no?? Probably not but there is a solid reason why he would. I believe his daughter will also play softball at Washington

So the bottom of this article explains a lot:

The powers that be at Michigan could help make that a reality by offering Harbaugh a contract that makes him one of the highest-paid coaches in college football and gives him a long-term commitment. Harbaugh could end up being Michigan's longest-tenured coach since Bo Schembechler and he loves his alma mater…

… Harbaugh took a paycut that nearly halved his salary…

… he had his pay restored -- but it was still less than Penn State's James Franklin and Michigan State's Mel Tucker. Harbaugh earned $8.05 million in 2022.

I read the NFL.com article and that one does not say that the Broncos are "set" to interview Jim. It says that they "plan" to interview Jim per sources. Again it's those damn sources that are always nameless...

https://www.nfl.com/news/broncos-plan-to-interview-jim-harbaugh-this-we…

That article also says that they are going to interview several candidates, Yahoo does not.

If I had to guess bits and pieces of each article are actually factual and the rest is just filler BS to get the clicks and everyone into panic mode...

He’s wanted out since 2020, not sure why after the last two years but I’d expect he feels like he’s accomplished enough the last two years to want to finish what he started in the nfl.

Here's the facts. Whatever deal Michigan offers JH it will HAVE to have language in saying any talk about NFL jobs will immediately terminate the contract. Also any talk coming from NFL will require Harbaugh himself immediately putting out a statement saying he will not talk to any NFL teams. If he doesn't want to sign this contract, let him walk.

Making an emotional move on a head coach will destroy recruiting. You're playing feelingsball. I'd rather have a coach that's desirable. Not many coaches are guaranteed to be at thier current location in 4 years. Players transfer out after 1 season on a regular basis. If you pick a school based on the coach alone, you're making a mistake and are about to learn a valuable life lesson.

For what it’s worth Nick Baumgardner on Twitter doesn’t believe this NFL dalliance is any more than contract leverage at this point. Warde needs to get this contract done asap

This will be over soon with the NFL ending today and I just don't have the emotional bandwidth to get upset either way.  Still can't believe we lost to TCU.

I'm not mad this time, f*ck the NCAA

We weren't going to make this public just yet, but it'll probably get leaked anyway.

I intend to interview Jim Harbaugh as well.   I don't have draft picks or salary cap space, but I do intend to interview him.

Heres what we do

1. Warde tells the NCAA to get fucked

2. Warde makes JH the highest paid coach, with the biggest assistant coach salary pool

Doesn't matter who else I would hire. That is irrelevant. If it's a meritocracy like has been preached, talking about being the highest paid coach for results that do not have a national championship attached, is laughable. Anyone who thinks he should be getting paid more than Saban or Smart is delusional.

I think we're going to hear a lot of random crap in the next so many days. Dumb reporters are also easily manipulated; their "source" is someone telling them some "inside info" but what's really happening is that some person wants to print an article with a certain angle, so the reporter is fed that angle, and cluelessly writes it up. Sports journalism is pretty crappy in general, and not to be trusted. It's more "Enquirer" or "People" than it is hard-hitting news.
