So I guess it’s gonna be Bama in Citrus? The Chance of Beating Bama is the most we can hope for at this point! This would give us an incredible boost going into the offseason and in recruiting. Go Blue!

ps. Harbaugh haters... you know what u all can do ;)

We would be the visiting team in the citrus bowl which means we’d have to wear our ugly ass white uniforms. Give me the holiday bowl pls

So what happens if Bama in a “down year” absolutely blows us off the goddamned field?

Do we all just sit around and go “Well our expectations are just too damn high anyway. We can’t realistically be expected to compete with a program like Bama, even when they’re having an off year. Let’s just be happy with our 9 wins and savor the fact that we’ve put MSU back in its place.”

I don't think this team is good enough to beat Alabama, but I also don't know if that much matters.  Like, Alabama is probably better than Georgia; the two best teams in the SEC played a couple weeks ago.  That Auburn game is what sometimes happens in non-UM/OSU rivalry games where one side gets a ton of good luck and pulls off an upset.

My expectations coming into the year were that UM would have to outscore teams because the defense would likely take a step back.  To my surprise the defense was fine but the offense took too long to gel, and so they lost a winnable game against PSU.  Otherwise, I figured they'd lose to OSU because unless such time as they beat them that's a safe assumption.  Losing to Bama, even getting blown out, isn't going to change expectations for me.

Losing wouldn’t be a surprise or upsetting.

But if a 2 loss Bama team, who will no doubt be disappointed to be playing in the Citrus Bowl and unlikely to be fired up to give maximum effort and intensity, still comes out and blows our doors off, I will be extremely concerned about the future of the program.

There is absolutely no doubt UM will be blown off the field. I am looking forward to every glorious moment of watching that. UM has no business on the same field with teams like OSU and Bama. Fans here need to embrace the UM tradition of the year end back to back beat downs.

This is a win win situation for us. No one expects us to beat Alabama, so it will be a huge story if we do.

And if they abuse our defense like OSU did, maybe we'll make the necessary changes to prevent that happening in the future.

OSU isn’t rolling LSU or Clemson.

I almost think the opposite, lose/lose. If win it’s Bama with a backup qb coming off a loss and probably more than a few guys sitting out the most meaningless bowl game there programs seen in a long time.

Who wants to see JM lined up 1on1 with any of there wr’s who by the way are far better than osu’s.

I agree.

If Michigan beats Alabama, the naysayers are still going to find a way to win the discussion.

Tua didn't play... Alabama didn't really want to be there... Alabama had guys sitting out... Alabama was down this season... Alabama's defensive wasn't any good this season.

If Michigan loses, then the naysayers will get to pile on in a different method.

It's a lose/lose situation like most of these non playoff bowl games can be for the brand name teams because the same thing can be said for Alabama.

They're not going to get much credit for beating Michigan, just criticism if they lose, especially if Tua plays.

The bowl games are designed to just make money and entertain college football fans. You can't put too much stock in them helping your recruiting and off season momentum.

Michigan defeating OSU, winning the Big 10 title and possibly making the playoff is the only real way to get an incredible boost going into the off season and in recruiting.
