I think it’s just the flurry of unconfirmed reports on X, the Edge of the Internet, etc to the effect that people are feeling optimistic and that he might even announce at Crisler today.

Also, Jon Jansen reportedly said on the radio yesterday that he (Harbaugh) is staying, which if true is obviously much more credible than the “unnamed sources say” stuff on X.  I didn’t hear it FWIW, so I can’t say for sure that he said it, but it’s a persistent claim.

So there’s a bit of “where there’s smoke there must be fire” optimism of late.

Also, Coach, please stay.

This was a new Twitter post by JUB, but he's not providing an update. He's been saying this or something like this for quite some time, but never defines the ""bear hug*, "love", or what "wanted" means.  I have no doubt that UM would back up a truck of cash to keep Harbaugh. I'm sure the university has shown that they "want" him. What are we talking about?  I assume there are some contract stipulations that Harbaugh is waiting on, but the vague "wants to feel wanted" seems like an emotional set up. If.he leaves and surrogates say he "didn't feel wanted", that sounds a lot better than "he didn't get the contractual non monetary items he wanted,"

I'm assuming you mean Juwan's name is the one he keeps mentioning?  Or is it Warde?  Either way, it's a take shared by many people on this board.

For me, the way basketball is trending over the past few years and also the way they are playing this year raises serious questions.  If the season finishes as it started, I would be in favor of moving on from Juwan after this season. Basketball has a very Hokeian feel to it right now.

As for Warde, I think he's meh as an AD.  Yes, football is humming, but he seems to be reactive rather than proactive on most things.  Personally, the inaction on Pearson and hazing until it was exposed and he was forced to act bothered me a lot.  As did the Xavier Simpson in Warde's car late at night thing.  Both kind of felt like he wanted to just let them slide/cover them up.

I don't think either of those viewpoints is racist, if that's what you are insinuating about the other poster with your comment.

BoCanHam is talking about Juwan. Not sure if BoCanHam was trying to insinuate racism here, not their M.O. IIRC, but maybe.

BoCanHam believes all Michigan coaches are the greatest up until the moment they're no longer employed at Michigan and anyone who criticizes a coach is a horrible fan. I learned this the hard way.

I don’t care if Warde and Harbaugh are friends or not, but if our AD is willing to let our national championship winning coach walk away because of personal enmity he needs to go. It’s insane that it’s even a possibility

What are you even trying to say? There have been multiple reports about Harbaugh ‘not feeling the love’ with a disclaimer to the effect of ‘his relationship with Santa is great’. A logical implication of that is the person he’s not feeling the love from Warde, his direct boss. By all means though, please return to your incoherent rant about goblins.

Ono, Alums and all fans want him. And we want him badly. Most radio show hosts are saying JH is a goner to the NFL and the Oregon coach wants JH's HC job at Michigan.

I think Saban did an exceptional job developing a program culture. Bama players aren't just mercenaries. He was able to get 5* mercenaries to play as a team. Look at how Tua and Jalen handled things.

The program culture at Bama is more similar to Michigan's than dissimilar. I would bet Bama's culture is closer than Oregon's.

I do agree that turning down Bama isn't evidence of anything.

Implement revenue sharing at just Michigan. Tells Harbaugh his message has been heard loud and clear. That could be the love he seeks. Also, it tells student athletes this is a good place to be. And it tells recruits, whether high school or portal, the same.

Blah blah blah.

This gets so boring. Jim wants to win a SuperBowl.  It is and has always been pretty easy to figure out THAT'S the magnetism to going back to "the National Football League".

I don't blame him.  I don't blame him that this happens every off-season and he can't help that Black Monday (and the subsequent weeks) is an annual occurrence and that maybe one of those vacancies might end up a perfect fit and pull him away from something else he, in fact, does truly as well.

Michigan has an extremely high contract on the table.  It has the university president, AD and regents telling Harbaugh he's wanted.  I suggest people write directly to Harbaugh and tell him they hope he stays as Michigan coach forever, and cement his legacy in the same stratosphere as Bo, maybe beyond.  Tell him maybe one day they will name the field Harbaugh Field.

However, if Harbaugh leaves, it's not for lack of love from Michigan.

Unless they refused to provide assurances of backing him if the NCAA gets another hard on for him. In that case, it was the University's choice to not ride with him. That seems to always have been the sticking point here. It's not about nice words and flowery letters, it's about not letting the NCAA or B1G back a truck over him. UM seems hesitant to provide such assurances.

After seeing how Michigan has treated NIL collectives which is essentially compensating our players for risking life and limb I think it's clear that the suits at Michigan only care about $$$ and protecting it.

Otherwise Harbaugh would have his fully guaranteed contract with complete protections from the last year with NCAA. And for those that worry about a show cause I respond with why? If Harbaugh got one you go through the motions....it's not the end of the world.

Where's Ono? I believe Ono is key to all this.

I'm basing this off nothing but vibes, same as probably everyone else, Including JUB, but I think he's coming back. I thought he was gone during the playoffs, but after we won, I think he is here for the long haul. Nobodies got it better than him, as he'd say.

If all of this is true and Michigan still doesn’t do whatever it needs to do to retain him, after he wins a freaking national championship, then we don’t deserve him anyway, and Michigan deserves any and all fallout from it that may come its way. On-field or otherwise.

We should all go to his house en masse and sing "For he's a jolly good fellow", Christmas carol-style, to let him know we want him.

Do it every night until he stays.

As long as there's no NCAA violation there (and who knows) no reason the school wouldn't agree to that. That's not the hold up.

Furthermore, if there's no NCAA violation there, Harbaugh could set up his own trust for that anyway.

It would be an interesting workaround, if Harbaugh paid players after they officially left school. I'm guessing the NCAA would still consider that a pay-for-play.

one thing of note, and i'd say greatly in favor of JH staying.  remember last year when the season was over it was an instant deluge of specific NFL rumors, trip to minny, etc.  this year, so far, none of that.

and don't forget the tattoos:  15-0   and the big block

Michigan Wolverines Logo Png Transparent - Michigan Wolverines Block M ...

going on his shoulders.   he ain't leaving.  mgrowold and booted are going to owe me $3.  they better start their gofundme/money cannon work now.  i'm going to retire off the of their lost bet...

Of course he is, Jim isn't stupid.

There is a real chance that Michigan may not come through, and NFL vacancies are ephemeral.  Whichever way he is leaning he should be investigating his options, even if it's only to light a fire under Michigan.

Right now the clarity of Jim's process is an enigma wrapped in a cloud, inside an enchilada.
