Apparent Bowl opt-outs include MHJr and Joe Milton

Marvin Harrison Jr., though with the team, is not practicing and is presumed to be opting out of the game and entering the draft. So says everyone, despite any official announcement.

Denzel Burke announced that he will announce on Jan. 10. I don't know why the 10th. Deadline to declare is Jan. 15.

Elsewhere, Joe Milton did make it officially official.

Milton is absolutely going pro.

He's going to go to the combine, throw the ball 90 yards at 105mph, and some team is going to risk a pick on him and his insane raw ability.

The same way UM recruited him, despite a completion percentage under 50% in HS. The same way UT portal'd him, despite him looking abysmal at UM.

His skills are there, so someone in the NFL is going to convince themselves that they can polish him in to an NFL starter.

Oh, I didn't realize we were discussing his college career.  I thought we were sharing our thoughts on his projection to the NFL. Tee Martin won a national championship at Tennessee.  Charlie Ward won a Heisman and a national championship.  Vince Young was unstoppable at Texas.  Stetson Bennett won 2 titles.  Obviously all of those guys were/are NFL HOF's because they are the same skill set.

Vince Young had a great pro career going before his personal issues took over.  Charlie Ward was a first round pick in the NBA and had a decent pro career.  Like Young Bennett has some personal demons but he got drafted and was a backup as a rookie.

I'm not saying Milton will be an all pro but I absolutely see teams looking at his expressed skills and his potential and thinking he could be a starter in the league.

I'm not sure I understand your point.  Sorry.  But, yes, we are discussing Milton's projection to the pros.  My point is that the same pattern that saw him win the starting job at two big-time programs in college will repeat itself in the draft and the pros.  The kid must be a phenomenal weekday QB and from what I've read, he's very hard-working, coachable, and likeable.  Some nfl coach/exec is going to be enamored with his tools and think they can mold him into a nfl starter.

I'm rooting for the kid.  It's kind of a rags to riches story.  But, I would question your assertion that Milton's improvement over 6 years to a passable QB on a pass-happy team in a division struggling to play defense, is any kind of a sure translation to the NFL.  And that his skill-set seems weak for an NFL QB, to me.

I see where the confusion is.  I'm not saying that at all, just the opposite in fact.  For context see my other posts in this thread.  I DON'T think he will be a good nfl QB--although I hope he will be.  He won the starting job at two major programs but turned out to be mediocre and was supplanted as starter at both.  His arm and whatever else he brings to the table seems highly seductive, even if his actual game day performance is wanting.  IMO, he will somehow find a way to convince some coach/GM to draft him too high and name him a starter at some point where I think he will underperform.

He has all the physical tools that can't be taught, and a pretty good frame for an NFL-sized QB, so its not crazy to think someone could take a late Day 3 flier on him in the hopes of developing him and getting his arm under control.

At this point I think most people have decided that Milton just is who he is at this point, but when you're getting deep into the draft, your positions of need are more or less filled and you have a very stable QB room, why not take a flier on a guy who you'll pay next to nothing for, but if you can be the one who finally develops him, you could have a very valuable asset in 2-3 years.

Milton will get drafted, because some NFL team will be "googly eyed" when he is his normal "practice champ", and displays his ridiculous arm strength.  There's zero doubt.  Especially after Anthony Richardson not only got drafted, but got drafted high, because of his "potential".  Someone will see that potential with Milton, for sure.

MHJ's dominance affects the entire gameplan, so it makes sense to try to keep Missouri guessing. Even if they suspect, if they cannot be sure, they have to build an entire section of the defensive gameplan around him. Or they would risk getting torched. Particularly given the rest of the OSU offensive situation.
