Apparent Bowl opt-outs include MHJr and Joe Milton

Marvin Harrison Jr., though with the team, is not practicing and is presumed to be opting out of the game and entering the draft. So says everyone, despite any official announcement.

Denzel Burke announced that he will announce on Jan. 10. I don't know why the 10th. Deadline to declare is Jan. 15.

Elsewhere, Joe Milton did make it officially official.

Scurried over to the rat hole known as 11W and their depth chart bowl story says everyone including EE (excluding MHJ) is playing in their bowl game.  This would include potential 1st 2nd rounders on the DL and Burke.  Interesting.

This seems to be consistent with their whole season - playing their starters 95% of the time with almost no rotation, on either side of the ball. You would think that a meaningless bowl game against Missouri would be a chance for them to give some of the backups some playing time.

I honestly think most of you all did not actually watch Joe play this year. He had some incredible games and was let down by his receivers and defense. He started both the Bama and Missouri with 80%+ completion percentage through the first 25 attempts.

He lost two nfl caliber receivers to season ending injuries this year and two to the draft from last years team. The amount of drops his receivers had this year were insane. Rahmel Keyton dropped 3 surefire wide open td’s by himself

You're acting like the board consensus is some out-of-touch vendetta-fueled delusion. It's pretty well in line with all the projections out there.

Absolute highest I've seen is 5th round with most saying 6th-7th and some speculation he will go undrafted.

I don't think he'll go undrafted. Too much potential to not at least take a flier somewhere. But most people are skeptical of his long term NFL prospects.

I have no issue with your own faith in Milton's abilities or your reasons for having belief. But this is not some weird anti-Milton conspiracy from Michigan fans.

I’ve seen him projected anywhere from the 7th to 14th QB taken with most having him at 10. 7-10 seems realistic to me.

Michigan fans are more critical of him than just about any qb except for O’Korn. My overall point is that he was better than he gets credit for. I went back and looked at some old UFRs a few weeks ago and it was interesting to see just how much things changed after he injured his thumb.

I don’t think there’s some crazy mass hatred for the guy, but more people root against him than for him on here. I think it started when he won the job over Dylan and was solidified when cade went bonkers against Rutgers.

Joe has much better stats than Cade. Pretty much identical completion rates, way more yards and much better td:int ratio. But, cade is considered the much more accurate passer, more cerebral (pre-snap genius) while Joe is considered raw and athletic.

Michigan injured: 15-34 (44.12) 208 yds 0 tds, 2 ints.

That makes sense since that aligns directly with the amount of success that QBs have had on the field at Michigan. Actually, O'Korn probably won more games percentage-wise (not bothering to confirm this--Milton played so few games) but O'Korn looked really, really bad. Also got benched during a Rutgers game for Peters who came in and looked better.

The line on the OSU/Mizzou game has had some insane movement since its opened. First line I saw was OSU-7.  It shifted to Mizzou -2 at one point. Currently sitting at OSU -3. This game is filthy.

Another point to consider if you are MHJ, your QB is gone. You have an inexperienced QB throwing your way which could lead to inaccurate throws that put you in a position to get lit up by a safety. No brainer for him.

Minnesota only had 1 QB available iirc.

Texas A&M supposedly will have no more than 55 scholarship athletes available for their bowl game.

Florida State has a huge number of guys opting out, including Tate Rodemaker.

It's just a matter of time before a team has to forfeit a bowl game due to lack of players.

Good luck Joe.

Glad some coach at Tennetucky got you to dial it down a bit.

Hope you sent cards to the dozen M fans in rows 18-30 of the end zone you sent to the hospital with those throws.

If Cardale Jones, Sean Clifford and Connor Cook all got drafted so will Joe Milton.

You could argue Milton has more raw talent than all those guys.

Will it  get developed? - Nope.

Will someone try? - Without a doubt.

Milton has Raiders written all over him.

On another note, the opting out of bowl games fad is bullshit. At this point though, I am waiting for teams to start seeing guys opt out once they are out of playoff contention - like Caleb Williams level guys opting out once that 3rd loss happens.

This sport is really starting to lose its luster.

If MHJ stayed, I'd have to seriously question his common sense and decision-making abilities.

Yes, in some small way it would be admirable for him to come back for "one last shot" at a Big Ten title, beating Michigan and a national title. But in a bigger, much more accurate way, it would be one of the most bone-headed decisions in recent college football history.

The man has nothing left to prove at the college level. He's the best there is right now, he'd still be that way next year. His ceiling would not go any higher than where it is right now. He's the first non-QB off the board this year. It'll be the same next year. He's likely the safest player in the draft this year, and likely will be next year too.

He'd be putting millions of dollars on the line to come back. One injury against Rutgers next year, and his potential pro career is derailed before it even starts. He loses millions in future earnings, even if he takes out an insurance policy. And even if he stays healthy, he has one less year of earning potential in the NFL. He's one year further away from "the second contract," and I also have no reason to believe that (within reason) OSU can bankroll MHJ for a year the same amount that he'd make in one year in the league, given he'd be taking the salary of a top-3 draft pick. OSU probably could not pay him w/o bankrupting the rest of the team.

TL;DR, go make your millions in the NFL, buddy. Yeah it'll suck for you to go 0-3 against Michigan, and I'm glad to see you leave without a single pair of gold pants to your name. But you're a generational talent, and frankly, you're too good for this level at this point. You have nothing left to prove to anyone in college.

Before the season started Tennessee fans all over the internet were saying Milton was going to be 1st Rounder in the NFL Draft.  I thought they were all delusional especially from what we seen when he was in Ann Arbor.

I wish him luck at the next level.

ITEM:  Jim Harbaugh advocates player revenue sharing.

MESSAGE BOARD PERSON:  “Give ‘em hell, Jimmy! Death to the NCAA!”

ITEM:  Players announce they’re leaving school early to avoid injury in an exhibition game and to prepare for their professional career.

MESSAGE BOARD PERSON: “What a bunch of pre-Madonnas, they’ll never amount to anything and weren’t that good anyway.”

Ever is it so.
