He's the X-factor in all of this and he is really the one who faces the greatest scrutiny and pressure next season. They have lost of lot of people despite signing Cade including people on defense. The admin at Iowa, and Nebraska seem to be very patient or have some buried internal issues that makes necessary coaching changes very hard to make.

The pressure will really be on because if the offense sputters again - no one can claim that they don't have an effective QB - he won the BigTen title against Iowa!

Did Charlie Jones play for Iowa in the 2021 Indy game (right ?) I think he did and he wasn't a factor - move him over to Purdue and he was Chuck Sizzle.

McNamara scoffed at the idea of having to compete for the job and went on a season long pout after he lost out to the more talented McCarthy, despite having had the honor of being voted a captain by his teammates. When he left, he didn’t express any appreciation for his time at Michigan or any well wishes for his now former teammates, something many players do who didn’t receive anything close to the playing time and accolades McNamara did at Michigan. For an example, here’s another portal entry, Louis Hansen:

https://twitter.com/louiehansen20/status/1599826944266149890?s=61&t=yZsX7xEiBbGQhcFHBGtyXg

How about George Rooks?

McNamara showed his true colors, and they don’t include blue. It doesn’t make him a terrible person, but let’s stop pretending that he’s St. Cade, the ultimate teammate and Michigan Man.

Cade always came off as a bit entitled and arrogant or at least he had that energy about him. Taking things personally and all that. He kinda just speaks his mind which I appreciate. Not a guy that speaks in fluffy platitudes that we expect. I think that gave him an edge and was to our benefit at times. I think we're seeing the more of negative side of that now. He probably is grateful for his time at Michigan, but I don't think it's in his personality to throw the niceties out there.  It's definitely gonna rub some people the wrong way and is probably a little immature of him.  There's no upside to bitching about Michigan other than coming off like a resentful ass. Wouldn't be my preference as far as people I like to be around, but that's how Cade is. Ultimately probably a good kid and has some talent and will likely mature. Wish him the best except vs. Michigan.

I wouldn’t say entitled so much as a gnawing chip on his shoulder. No doubt he paid his dues and probably was rightfully ticked off that no sooner had he wrapped up a Big Ten championship—the first mind you at in nearly two decades—then fans and media were already fanning over a freshman ‘phenom’ who had yet to do anything and even this year is partially riding the coattails of good vibes, confidence, and culture of last year’s team for which Cade was a major catalyst.

Bottom line: Cade is a competitor and competitors don’t like to lose and many don’t do so gracefully. He’s got more than a tinge of resemblance to Tom Brady in that way. That is not always a good thing as the winning can be overshadowed by the whining. That’s something that Brady has done from time to time and it rubs people the wrong way and comes across as petty, lacking in humility, and ungrateful.

Sometimes you have to know when to bow out and do so with style.  As the saying goes, you either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.

Cade threw shade at the NIL program and at the medical staff.  As somebody who just left my very public job, I could throw shade all I want without concern that my employer would respond.  But it is unseemly precisely because of that fact.  It's not like Harbaugh or JJ could say "LOL Cade was a soft crybaby and everybody on the team hated him".

Meh.   It admittedly wasn't the best look for either, but I'mma gunna take the high road and ignore all that and continue to root for them.  They had some great moment in Michigan history.  It is a lot for a kid to get passed over especially after having great success.

All's statements were premeditated and clearly intended to damage the program and coaches. They appeared to be calculated not spontaneous.  For me that cancels out his contributions from playing. I don't wish him ill but I don't have any loyalty to him. I am neutral.

Indeed it is very unsurprising, as most have expected him to head to Iowa a few weeks now. Even before he hit the portal. Basically same with Cade.

Assume there's a bunch of "tampering" stories going around on twitter and via CFB media? No? Interesting those tampering claims most only get clicks when it's Harbaugh/Michigan

Shocker!!!

Whatever - good luck to both of them, until they meet Michigan.  I really do hope they finish their college careers playing well and having success.

We don´t play Iowa next year unless both teams make it to the Championship Game.

So good luck to both young men and really hope they get and stay healthy.

Healthy is the key.  I've needed back surgery for about 15 years and refuse to get it until the pain becomes "give me the heroin" bad.  Too many things can go wrong.

I hope Erik in particular gets a bunch of NIL money in case his pro career is short or doesn't happen at all.

Didn't appreciate the shit talking on the way out though.  Don't parents teach kids not to burn bridges anymore?

My best friend when I was 18 was 22 and we were bodybuilding together. A year later he had a slight injury to his back was convinced by a surgeon to have back surgery. over 20 years later he still has back issues that have gotten worse and worse. The pain after the surgery was far worse than before. That being said, you never know when it comes to the back and spinal area. I would only view surgery as a last resort.

Not surprising. Hope he and Cade do reasonably well there and they can limit their subtle shots at Michigan on their way out the door

Will be interesting to watch Iowa next year. All is probably comparable to a lot of tight ends Iowa usually turns out and Cade is probably about as good a QB as Iowa really gets under Ferentz, but if their OL is still trash then it's not gonna matter much

fucking weird how all of this went down with him and Cade. Don't like how they both took swings at the program on the way out. Don't like that we treated Cade like shit (booing him). Don't like that All questioned the integrity of our medical staff. Don't like that its still all hush hush. Don't like that it distracted from bowl game prep. Don't like that they're still in the conference and at a decent team (with them on it). Don't like that they thought iowa was a culture fit after leaving UM.

Ready to move the F on. Bye.

Not going to wish anything but good luck to these guys because they are just young men playing football, but this doesn't 100% sit well with me as regards their teammates who voted them both captain. Cade seems bitter but we all saw the competition play out and he was clearly not the best QB on the team. Move on, yes, but you can't badmouth the program on your way.

With Erick All it is even harder to excuse his disloyalty to a program that made him a captain. They need him next year and I see this as him turning his back. If we end up playing Iowa next year I hope we stomp them.

I'm not nearly as big of a Cade/All supporter now than I was when Cade first announced.   Both took shots at the school and the medical staff on their way out and All especially seemed to be blaming Michigan for decisions he made that ran counter to the advice he was giving by our clinicians.

I think they'll both do very well at Iowa but you wont find me cheering for either's success anymore.

I really wish someone would give these players the “Don’t bash your employer on the way out” speech.

If Cade McNamara wants to make it to the NFL, it will have to be as a good locker room back up QB player. Throwing shade at your former team, and leaving the team during the season as a captain are not those characteristics.
