Not wishing them ill but not wishing them well, either.

You get elected captain and then leave Michigan because you're no longer the starter or are injured and then badmouth the program on your way out the door, I no longer care what happens to you.

It's ironic because I was a big Cade supporter even before he had his breakout game against Rutgers, and believe he was a key positive factor in our 2021 season. I think the booing of him during games he played this season by alleged Michigan "fans" was deplorable bullshit that merits the yanking of season tickets, but it sure wasn't his teammates or coaches booing him. That said, he wasn't playing well, and McCarthy was clearly the better player in early 2022. Harbaugh's first responsibility is to the team's success, not to individual players.

i agree completely.  i don't think you can expect them to say glowing, complimentary stuff given their situations.  i can expect them to behave with class and dignity.  i'd expect that from them on the field and off.

we sometimes like to say that you can't blame a player or coach for leaving for a better situation, be it money, or playing time, or chemistry, or whatever.  just like a job, right?  well, it's good advice to not leave a job for another without burning your bridges, ever.  nobody wins when you do that, and the catharsis of bitching someone out wears off pretty quickly.

Boy oh boy have things changed--all of sudden many commenters seem to have jumped off of the 'wishing Cade all the best' bandwagon. I agree wholeheartedly that neither Cade nor All left Michigan in a dignified way but both contributed mightily last year and leaving doesn't change that.

What gets my attention is the fact that Michigan is an undefeated and back to back B1G championship team, heading to the CFP for the second year in a row. Why on earth would you leave for anywhere else, really?

It makes no sense and the only reasons I can think of are basically selfish ones. I wish Cade and All the best here at Iowa but IMHO there's no way they are better off. Iowa's program swings back and forth between 2-3 loss seasons and 4-6 loss seasons and they never make a splash nationally. Even if Brian Ferentz isn't their OC next year what do Cade and All really have to look forward to?

Best of luck to Erick All!

I understand what a lot of folks around here are saying, and wish it had been a "cleaner" exit, but I can't be the fan that congratulates him on the birth of his child, relishes in the story of him getting saved from a house fire as a baby, cheers like hell when he wins the PSU game for us last season on a bum wheel...and then drag him for making certain decisions about an injury on the way out.  Again, I get it what people are saying, but will still be rooting for him.  And for Cade as well.

Agree.  It seems that he was salty about what he considered either unsupportive medical advice, or lack of financial support for his surgery in Florida.  He might not be correct when it comes to declaring who was right and who was wrong, but I can see him not wanted to stay after he felt betrayed.  He certainly put in the work and determination needed to succeed at this level. and I hope he finds happiness in his new situation.  He's done a hell of a lot more for Michigan football than I ever have.

I have no ill feeling towards Erick All and wish him absolute the best. Hope that he didn't fall victim to unethical medical practices. I did a fairly thorough search into medical literature but couldn't find any other football players underwent lumbar fusion surgery or return to the sport after such surgery.

Peyton Manning had a herniated cervical disc. The disc was putting pressure on the spinal cord in the neck and causing him to have pain in his throwing arm.

Manning had at least 4 surgeries on his neck. The first few surgeries treated his pain but pain re-emerged. His doctors then performed a cervical fusion to fuse the two neck vertebrae together. Peyton went on to play more football professionally after his final procedure.

Tony Romo suffered from a herniated disc in his lower back. He underwent surgery called microdiscectomy. During this procedure only a small part of the disc is removed in order to relieve pressure on the nerve. Within a few months Romo was throwing the football to a win in the 2013 season opener.

Mario Lemieux had surgery for a herniated disc in 1990.. The next season he led his team to a Stanley Cup victory. Lemieux went on to play for another decade of record breaking, award winning hockey.

Here's an ESPN article by TomVH that incorrectly states Erick All didn't play in 2022.  Kind of hard to have stats in a season you don't play.  TomVH must've been too tired from holding people to fact check the article.  Otherwise, nothing really new here.

While he didn't play in 2022, All appeared in 13 games in 2021 with eight starts and was an All-Big Ten honorable mention. He had 437 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 2021.

Good luck to the young man (excluding any game against Michigan).

When will he contribute next year?  Back surgery in late October - would think there's extensive rehab involved before training and football activities.

Odd that two guys who had issues with UM's medical staff went to a school who's program under the current coach had..(checks notes):

Thirteen University of Iowa football players were recently hospitalized with rhabdomyolysis, a muscle disorder. The American Medical Association Encyclopedia of Medicine defines it as follows: "Destruction of muscle tissue accompanied by the release of the oxygen-carrying red muscle pigment myglobin into the blood."

Tea colored urine along with that.

And the coach stayed out on the road recruiting instead of rushing back to check on his guys.

They're Hawkeyes now, so I have no reason to wish them success. Erick All seems like a good kid, but also a little immature. He played hard and was always smiling. Cade McNamara lost me when he said he didn't understand why there was a competition for the quarterback position, and he said that HE was a Big Ten championship quarterback. Well, Cade, you certainly didn't handle the competition well, as JJ clearly outplayed you. The fans were stupid for booing you, but the way you separated yourself from the team afterward was childish. An angry Tom Brady stayed and competed. You quit.

i'm happy that both cade and erick all will be able to continue their careers.  i'll remember them both as major contributors (and more!) to one of my favorite michigan teams.

i do wish they were leaving without taking shots on their way.  it's disappointing.

Best of luck to him and Cade. Didn't really care for the way they talked trash as they walked out the door. Would've been a better look to just be the bigger men and move on, but they're big boys who can make their own decisions.

Michigan will be fine without them, but I recognize that at the same time, Michigan wouldn't be where it is right now without these two, so as far as I'm concerned I am still grateful for their effort and service to make Michigan what it is today.

Cade ostensibly quit on the team.  Good riddance.  When is the last time a Michigan Football captain quit and transferred before the season was over?  I can’t EVER recall that.  He took his ball and went home like a child.

A lot of well-wishing but going back to the spring game last year and then moving forward, nothing Cade has done on the field leads me to believe he will solve Iowa's offensive woes.
