it seems like refs have a preponderance to give the offensive team the benefit of the doubt and are reluctant to call safeties in these situations. I don’t get it.

Maybe… and I’m just spitballing here… but maybe Alabama, which scored 20 points in Austin, 24 in College Station, and 30 at home against Mississippi State… isn’t all that great this year.
