This is my thoughts as well. Izzo is a great basketball coach but he wants to do things his way, sometimes to a fault. There's no way he would coddle Bates and let him act like a child. There is only room for one tantrum throwing threenager in EL.

It'll be interesting to see if Penny Hardaway can actually improve as a coach and create a national title contender out of Memphis. Seems like he always has elite recruiting classes but mediocre results.

I thought this too but when I looked it seemed like he’s only really had one truly elite class, and that was the one with Wiseman, who was promptly ruled ineligible. This Duren/Bates class will be an important proving ground, though.

They will make the tourney. They have two top 5 picks NBA draft picks in a smaller conference. They will win enough games to get in at some level. And if they're squarely on the bubble theyll likely get in over a team with a better resume as folks like to see NBA talent in the tourney.

I hate to say it but there actually is a chance theyre better off without him. But there is an equal if not larger chance that Bates goes and drops 20ppg in the AAC. Though these two things are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

BUT, they have an extremely long thread wherein a poster explains that he will be leaving the board because some other poster on there was stalking his family. The thread is terrifying and fascinating, with people accusing other people of doxxing them, a poster claiming another poster has fabricated a history of living near a child murder (seriously), some people seriously asking the guy why he’s leaving (“if he is already stalking you, not posting won’t stop him”), some people talking about a Notre Dame fan jacking off in a video (again, seriously). It’s incredible.
