And??? Wasn’t he on an unofficial, so everything was out of his pocket? Not like the sideline pass he “used the coaches to score” had some amazing financial value to UM, maybe they missed out on the income from him buying a ticket? Woohoo…
It’s ok, he isn’t going to choose UM, I’m pretty sure we’ll be fine.

If the recruitment was over a while ago getting free passes to a game for his dad is pretty lame.
November 30th, 2021 at 10:17 PM ^
I'm close to someone that's close that situation and I'll leave that there. This recruitment was over for UM a while ago.
I mentioned this happening before The Game. The visit was a formality as his dad wanted to see The Game. I wrote what I heard and it was that "the outcome of The Game will have zero impact". Dad loves Michigan, son doesn't. Thought he did, visited and realized he doesn't. The Game visit was a formality.
Now, he meant that as in he was going to Bama. Now with Riley at USC, I'd guess it's a 50/50 thing with USC probably having the edge. It's the hot name and move right now and he seems really drawn to that sort of thing.
Not a knock as he's a good kid and his parents are good people. Dad truly loves Michigan, never got the sense Domani did and despite word of being a silent back last year I think that 2020 Wisconsin trip here really, really soured him to Michigan. Never felt like they recovered from that, even after Washington. Sadly, this isn't a surprise but good luck to the young man.
November 30th, 2021 at 10:58 PM ^
Though I do not doubt your story, what I do not get is then WHY silent commit? Did not say that? Just seem weird that it soured so much that he do that..
Either case, his decision and wish him the best.. Just seem like the story is inconsistent but it is 'crooting.

That I can only speculate on. My guess based on what I do know for sure seems logical to me and it's as simple as wanting to make your father happy and the reality of something being nothing like you expect.
Imagine if you grew up loving LSU because your dad was from New Orleans. You become a recruit and visit. Your imagination runs wild with how awesome it will be. You leave the airport and the 8,000 degree heat with 400% humidity hits you. Then LSU sucks and the HC recruiting you may not be there when you enroll.
You then realize the local school is kinda dope and you even visit another and it's dope, too. You try to like LSU so you visit again. It's better than the first time but it doesn't stop being hot and swampy. You really try to like it but it's not for you. You don't like crawfish or gumbo or the heat. It's just not what you want and you only knew when you went.
Just a guess but it probably went a little like that.

Hope he froze his balls off. /s
Good luck.
November 30th, 2021 at 10:54 PM ^
Pass for being a kid, but if you don't really want to go to a school just stop making provocative statements and all that. Just say, "It was nice, I enjoyed my visit, atmosphere was great". No one will hold it against him if he picks another school.

Ok Cool
Hook Em

Whatever happened to that guy? He’s not at Texas anymore, that’s for sure.
November 30th, 2021 at 9:40 PM ^
Honestly, if being at that game didn't convince him to keep Michigan in the race, nothing was going to...
Michigan couldn't have had a better weekend than that....I thought he'd reup with USC anyways.
Onwards

Big bummer. We’ve got a good class, some guys in the oven, and nebulous/undetermined eligibility of our top 3 corners from our B1G East CHAMPION TEAM. Silver linings.
November 30th, 2021 at 9:40 PM ^
Well, he can go fuck himself.
November 30th, 2021 at 11:25 PM ^
You might consider that suggestion yourself
December 1st, 2021 at 12:15 AM ^
What would you consider an appropriate response to someone telling a highly coveted recruit to "go fuck himself" because he made a choice?
December 1st, 2021 at 12:44 AM ^
Idk telling him he should look in the mirror seems like a fine choice. I don’t like people Tello g kids to fuck of because they made a decision that upsets them
December 1st, 2021 at 2:52 AM ^
I thought your comment was directed at me. I see now that we are on the same page. Carry on and Go Blue.
December 1st, 2021 at 8:04 PM ^
Cheers brother!
November 30th, 2021 at 9:40 PM ^
He would have been a tremendous addition to the class. Good luck to him. Seems like a great kid and would have loved to have him in a winged helmet.
November 30th, 2021 at 9:40 PM ^
CB suddenly doesn’t look as bad. We have a freshman who looks like a stud in Turner. Gray has turned into a Stribling level corner with sophomore eligibility and we get 5* Will Johnson coming in (also players like McBurows who should be promising).
November 30th, 2021 at 10:02 PM ^
I know we have the “free Covid year” thing but I don’t think all these guys are staying 6 years.
November 30th, 2021 at 9:41 PM ^
Alabama or USC, like deciding if you want lobster or skittles for dinner
November 30th, 2021 at 9:45 PM ^
Ummm…I guess you don’t follow USC. USC with a Coach not named Helton is like deciding between lobster and king crab legs.
November 30th, 2021 at 9:59 PM ^
crabs legs is Florida State... ask Winston.
November 30th, 2021 at 11:31 PM ^
I'm sure the campus has a lot of appeal but I've been watching college football since 1990 and USC has been elite for only about a quarter of that time (mostly 2002-08 with Carroll). Riley is probably going to do well but it's not like Helton was the only underwhelming coach out there. It's been a lot more Skittles than king crab since the '80s
December 1st, 2021 at 2:00 AM ^
Sark and Kiffin are the definition of skittles
They had Pete Carroll for most of a decade and have been largely irrelevant since the 80s without his era
November 30th, 2021 at 9:45 PM ^
What’s weird about the USC thing football wise (I know he’s from out there) but Alex Grinch is kind of a mediocre DC and OU hasn’t had a ton of success developing defenders. Seems Bama bound.
November 30th, 2021 at 9:42 PM ^
Couldn't even make a top 3? I figured he wasn't going to Michigan, but sheesh he must have really had no desire to come here for awhile.
November 30th, 2021 at 9:54 PM ^
Agreed, it's definitely an odd move to eliminate Michigan and only Michigan right after his visit. Maybe he really doesn't like the snow. He also deleted his picture from his Michigan visit on Instagram which seems... extra and kinda passive aggressive
November 30th, 2021 at 10:08 PM ^
Almost seems like he was dangling the carrot to score sideline passes...
December 1st, 2021 at 9:19 AM ^
Knowing the lunatics out there, he’s probably getting harassed by losers.
November 30th, 2021 at 10:07 PM ^
His comments in interviews have always indicated he really wants to be at USC and has good reasons for doing so.
When he opened it back up he was very clear he was only considering 3.
I don't read much into it other than he's narrowed his choice and is being very systematic. He doesn't seem like an impulsive kid at all.
In fact, he seems like exactly the kind of guy we want at Michigan. It just didn't click for him.
I hope he sets the world on fire. If we play him, I hope he has the worst game of his career.
November 30th, 2021 at 9:43 PM ^
Warm weather versus Bama dollars. Its hard to compete with that.
November 30th, 2021 at 9:43 PM ^
Where’s Jonny?
November 30th, 2021 at 9:44 PM ^
I mean if this last weekend didn’t draw him in, nothing will.
November 30th, 2021 at 9:44 PM ^
Michigan could be in really good shape in the secondary with Berry and maybe Sabb a Clemson commit.
November 30th, 2021 at 9:44 PM ^
Took best possible shot at him. You didn’t like what you saw Saturday, then we are not a good fit for you. Enjoy SoCal, young man
November 30th, 2021 at 9:45 PM ^
What other prospects that were on campus last weekend do we now have a legitimate shot at?
November 30th, 2021 at 9:48 PM ^
We did the best we could. But at the same time...who cares if he decides to go elsewhere.
We have a great DB class led by Will Johnson, Kody Jones, Pollard and possibly Zeke Berry coming in.

We’ll be fine… but frustrating that this happens with every single high profile 5 star recruit.. getting played like a fiddle continues
November 30th, 2021 at 9:48 PM ^
good luck to him and can't wait for Ronnie Bell to blow past his ass in the national championship game next year
November 30th, 2021 at 9:55 PM ^
I wouldn't say every 5 star recruit, but chasing a 5 star out of CA probably isn't going to go our way very often.
November 30th, 2021 at 10:00 PM ^
Like we got played with JJ & Edwards?
Edit: this was supposed to be in response to the post above this one about the 5* recruiting, not sure how it ended up here

Sucks, but we're still going to have a really good secondary recruiting class: Johnson, Jones, Pollard, Dent, and likely Berry and Sabb. That's an elite fucking class right there
November 30th, 2021 at 9:52 PM ^
See ya and enjoy your warm weather games
November 30th, 2021 at 9:52 PM ^
Dammit. Wanted this immediate return on the win but unfortunately it’s a blip on the very long recruitment timeline for this kid.
