Michigan signee Durral "Phat Phat" Brooks wins Mr. Basketball
He's the first Mr. Basketball to play for Michigan since Isaiah Livers.

Well, he's the 1st player to commit to Michigan. Don't count your chickens about him PLAYING for Michigan....yada yada.
So you're saying "phat" chance he stays with Michigan hoops?
With our current coaching situation, will he play here?
+1 underrated joke!
Phabulous, Mr. Brooks. Go Blue!
Thanks Warde!
So phat they had to say it twice?
uhhhhh....he hasn't actually played for michigan yet.
Great job recruiting coach!!!
Wow that's nice. Now how about 10 other players and we should be competitive. 3 - 16 in conference play. In the coach's 5th year.
Austin Davis' brother who is committed to Wright State finished 3rd in the vote. Might need to offer him with the way things are going.
You evidently havent seen the incoming class!!!

Might need to offer the top 20 in voting at this rate.
I would not get my hopes up on this guy. I have seen him play. He is a nice player, but nothing elite. I would equate him to a poor man's Eli Brooks.
100% agree. Not a great in state class either.
Hence 3 star
Eli was a gem and it took forever for Brian to see it. He called.him a MAC level player when I thought he was one of the best players on team, it's just that he wasn't flashy.
Dural better get some shooting help to reach Eli status.
Eli had room to get a lot better this guy has a very low ceiling

Eli over performed and still wasn't a "great" BigTen player. Not a MAC player at all, just a super solid contributor and worked for all he got (so maybe close to a all MAC type player when recruited). Took awhile. If Durral is on that level and that type of player, I would still be happy.
Antoine Joubert has entered the chat
He hasn’t played for Michigan and I frankly doubt he ever does. The program is a disaster and either Juwan stays as a complete dead duck or they start a rebuild under a new coach. Under either scenario keeping our current commits seems very unlikely.
So committed means not committing to you? There goes Eli. This BS is nauseating. Grown men like, he's not that good. He wont be coming here. Whew, this is where breaking news starts. Oh yeah and GO BLUE. Hopefully recruits come here for reinforcements from pundits.
Dude, save your energy for September.
Don't get so riled up by a sinking ship. Warde isn't, neither should you.
Riled?
Maybe I'm riled that Warde isn't riled that makes everyone riled.
It's more likely he comes here...instant playing time ..anywhere else and he sits.
Phabulous. I hope he has a phantastic career at Michigan.
Looking at the list of Mr. Basketball's and it's amazing how many of those guys went to MSU. A fewer percentage went to Ann Arbor, but had a higher success rate in terms of getting guys to the League.
Also his teammate actually played at Michigan he's a slightly familiar name,"Kobe!" He's a lifelong fan of Michigan and he also said Kobe's development led him to Michigan. But, those are his words not mine. GO BLUE
Kobe went to G.R. Christian.
AAU teammate or something like that.
That Brooks’ good friend and 2021 Grand Rapids Christian grad Kobe Bufkin developed into a first-round NBA draft pick after two years in Ann Arbor also helped Michigan stand out.
“Since I was 3, me, my older brother and Kobe all played on a team called Boom until we went off to high school, and then my brother’s junior year and Kobe’s senior year, we did a final AAU tournament, the Gatorade Championships down in Indianapolis,” Brooks said. “Seeing Kobe go there and do what he did and now seeing where he’s at, that was something I can look forward to and see myself following in his footsteps.”
The way AAU structures their season (essentially the whole dang year), AAU teammates play together way more than HS teammates.
Starter on Day 1.

Will we be able to roster 8 guys not inclusive of walk ons?
Congratulations Durral!!
My best friend coaches him at GR CC.
Please mention to him that some PRO scouts on mgoblog have written him off already! Also mention that one poster thinks three-stars suck!!! And one other poster feels that he is a Poor Mans Eli Brooks, with no future!!! GO BLUE
Good thing you're not riled up. I wonder what that would even look like.

It shows who's riled by the followers. When truth is revealed lots of negativity shows up in voting. Lol
Phat should bring the phun back to A2. If he doesn't, next season not only won't be phun but will definitely be phucked up.
Howard has gotten commitments from 12 of the top 25 highest ranked high school basketball players that have committed to Michigan since 2000, but has done nothing with that talent, so I don't see Brooks being elite at Michigan if coached under Howard.
For the sake of the program and his health, hopefully he finds something less heavy on the shoulders after this season.
