Coach Hello: LB Coach Brian Jean-Mary (via Webb)
The poster below asked, and Coach Jean-Mary immediately delivered:

It's called manifesting.

February 15th, 2024 at 10:23 AM ^
manifesting Warde's firing right now
February 15th, 2024 at 11:04 AM ^
Fire Warde for helping Sherrone put together what looks like a great defensive staff and winning a bidding war vs Tennessee over BJM!
February 15th, 2024 at 11:13 AM ^
Seriously giving credit to Warde for Sherrone's work? Yuck
February 15th, 2024 at 11:24 AM ^
I think Warde and the athletic department probably had a hand in hiring the coaches and making sure we had enough money for assistants for the football team, yes. I do not give them "all the credit", but you can be damn sure if we lost this bidding war on Jean-Mary or missed on some of the other hires, Warde would be the first person that would get blamed here.
I'm sorry if that's "yucky" to you. It's the truth.
I'll give credit and love to Sherrone for getting this done, and the athletic department for assisting Sherrone. I don't think that should be a controversial opinion, but it probably will be because people have to find the negatives in any situation and bitch about something, no matter how great the news.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:55 AM ^
What?? A reasoned response??
How dare you.
February 15th, 2024 at 12:58 PM ^
"And bitch about something, constantly!"
FIFY
GO BLUE
February 15th, 2024 at 1:27 PM ^
I give Warde no credit, no points, and no quarter.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:40 AM ^
If Warde has a role in losing assistant coaches, then he has a role in hiring and retaining them as well. I'm no Warde apologist, but let's keep the mental gymnastics to scapegoat him to a minimum.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:52 AM ^
No way, man. Everything bad that happens to Michigan is entirely Warde's fault, and everything good that happens only happens despite Warde's attempts to sabotage us. /s
February 15th, 2024 at 12:10 PM ^
I can't believe Warde forced Russia into looking at space nukes. Unbelievable
February 15th, 2024 at 4:13 PM ^
If we’re going to blame Warde every time a coach leaves for a better opportunity, why would we not give him credit for outbidding an SEC team for a great recruiter?
February 15th, 2024 at 11:26 AM ^
The hate for Warde has become its own ignorance manifesting thing. People are straight up blinded by it. Give credit where it's due. This is on Warde just as much as his failures.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:33 AM ^
I don't even like Warde, just sick of the frothy santorum of hate this board whips itself into whenever Warde is mentioned. It's old. We get it already.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:43 AM ^
Hell Warde wasn't even mentioned in the OP and yer someone felt the need to take a shot at him instead of celebrating this head to head "W" over an SEC team.
February 15th, 2024 at 1:00 PM ^
You must be new here.
/s
February 15th, 2024 at 12:05 PM ^
Thank you for stating the obvious. All of the Warde hate has become so boring.
I'm neutral on the guy. I have no experience running an athletic department or even running a business with the type of revenue that is generated by the Michigan athletic department.
Yet, because I may not like a coach leaving or have no firm plan to make an 18 y.o. athlete an instant millionaire to fulfill my emotional need to never see the Wolverines lose a football, basketball, or hockey game doesn't mean I have to perpetuate his excoriation and demand his dismissal.
February 15th, 2024 at 3:25 PM ^
Santorum - I see that.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:54 AM ^
I reckon many of them here are actually msu and osu trolls, trying to create dissent in the program. I say this because it seems far too over the top, especially after we just won the national title. Don't you think ?
February 15th, 2024 at 12:10 PM ^
I don't think they're trolls from opposing fanbases, no. I think some people just can't ever be happy and constantly need something or someone to hate on and constantly bitch about.
February 15th, 2024 at 12:22 PM ^
Manuel is blamed sometimes for things that are probably out of his control, but you don't have to be an MSU or OSU troll to be concerned that 1) Harbaugh and Beilein, two elite coaches he inherited, both reportedly had poor relationships with him and 2) the basketball program has utterly collapsed and may be looking for a new coach soon. To date Manuel has almost exclusively gone for easy hiring decisions - either promoting assistants or hiring outsiders with Michigan ties - but that's not going to be an option this time around. Do you have faith he'll get it right?
February 15th, 2024 at 12:50 PM ^
Here I thought we were discussing the announcement of Michigan's new linebacker coach, but not so fast!
Apparently we must always be discussing Warde's ability to capably hire a basketball coach that we "may be looking for soon."
February 15th, 2024 at 4:24 PM ^
Well I haven’t heard anything about Beilein not getting along with Warde, but in regards to Harbaugh… he is pretty notorious for not getting along with people. I think we have a large enough view of Harbaugh’s career in the spotlight to know that any issues in his relationship with Warde are probably not one-sided in origin.
As for your second point, that’s kinda what every AD does… hire guys with ties to the program, as those are the guys who are most likely to want to be there and be invested. The assistants that he has hired were pretty much no brainers that were completely endorsed by their predecessor. Nothing about Warde’s coaching hire decisions at this point have given anyone any reason to not have faith that he will get it right.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:33 AM ^
What exactly did Warde do to make this happen? He allocated budget for assistant coaches? What college football program doesn't have a budget for paying assistant coaches? If I recall correctly, Warde himself was talking about the size of the pool for assistant coach salaries. I'm pretty sure Sherrone had to identify and evaluate candidates and convince them to sign up.
February 15th, 2024 at 4:25 PM ^
So then if you’re convinced all Warde does is set the budget (it’s not), then you agree he doesn’t deserve blame for the coaches leaving to follow Harbaugh… correct?
February 15th, 2024 at 4:34 PM ^
No. When coaches leave, it's entirely Warde's fault. When coaches get hired, Warde did absolutely nothing.
February 15th, 2024 at 10:26 AM ^
Speaking into existence. Good Work!
February 15th, 2024 at 10:45 AM ^
We have had this chat. There will be no manifesting on the boards until evening. We got into a spot of trouble for airing the saucier content in the middle of the morning last time.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:18 AM ^
manifesting - good
manifesto - bad
February 15th, 2024 at 11:24 AM ^
Manifesting a manifesto?
February 15th, 2024 at 10:23 AM ^
I'm sure BJM was hitting F5 on MGoBlog waiting for that post so he could make the announcement. What a fantastic prank!
February 15th, 2024 at 11:25 AM ^
Sign of true coaching acumen.
February 15th, 2024 at 10:23 AM ^
Is this the last spot we need to fill? I believe it is 10 assistant/coordinator roles
1. Wink
2. Campbell
3. Brown
4. Newsome
5. Casula
6. Bellamy
7. Hart (?)
8. Jean-Mary
9. Adegoke
10. Scruggs
February 15th, 2024 at 10:29 AM ^
The exact question I was thinking of.
It seems like the coaching staff may be complete - and, they can begin focusing on the Spring Practice schedule.
Perhaps a few analysts will come over to the staff. And, it would be wonderful if a Ravens “D” analyst decided to join the staff for a season or two.
February 15th, 2024 at 10:37 AM ^
Moore is more than par for the course. These all are outstanding hires. Just pray SF doesn't steal Wink right now.
Next up is whether Hart stays.
February 15th, 2024 at 10:47 AM ^
I don't think SF would take Wink. Seems like they will promote from within or get Vrabel. Really seems like Hart wants a HC role, and probably needs to take an OC role to get there. I'm really surprised Indiana didn't hire him as head coach since he was the associate head coach there before he came here. I don't see a clear path for him to move up from the RB coach role here, but would love for him to stay.
February 15th, 2024 at 10:59 AM ^
Would love for Hart to be Fred Jackson 2.0 (here for 30 years), but would also love to see him climb the ranks elsewhere and come back as a head coach someday.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:15 AM ^
So we want him to be Fred Jackson but head coach-ier?
February 15th, 2024 at 11:30 AM ^
“Mike Hart will definitely be a head coach someday. He has the tactical acumen for the offensive side of the ball like a Mike McDonald or Jesse Minter do for defense, and can also recruit like Nick Saban in his prime.” - Fred Jackson (probably)
February 15th, 2024 at 11:48 AM ^
I think you meant, "Mike Hart is like Nick Saban but a great recruiter."
That's more of a Freddie-ism.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:55 AM ^
Vrabel is a good call.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:55 AM ^
Vrabel is a good call.
February 15th, 2024 at 4:30 PM ^
Indiana went with a more proven candidate. Cignetti has over 100 career wins and is 52-9 in the last 5 years with James Madison. Only con is that he’s 62, but everything else about him says he’s a better head coach than Hart.
February 15th, 2024 at 1:02 PM ^
Zero percent chance of Wink to SF. They want a more linear continuation of the Salah/Ryans Seattle/Carroll tree and Wink is very very not that.
February 15th, 2024 at 10:45 AM ^
If for some reason Hart is not on the staff, have their been any replacements mentioned? Or is it really just waiting for the personal issues to be resolved and he's onboard?
February 15th, 2024 at 11:07 AM ^
Mike Hart is the big question mark. Mums, the word. I would love to have him stay on the staff. One has to wonder about his relationship with Sherrone, I assume it's very good. Hopefully, the Mike Hart mystery will be resolved in a few days.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:36 AM ^
I haven't heard of any relationship issues between Hart and Moore. I think Hart is just a really ambitious (and talented) guy who wants his shot as a HC somewhere. He's probably going to need to be an OC at some point first, and that' difficult when we have Moore (also a young guy) as coach.
As much as I love Hart, he probably needs to move to another program if he wants to move up. Many of us have faced similar roadblocks in our careers and lateral moves are the way around this.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:21 AM ^
All I've seen is he's been away for personal matters. Honestly, I almost think we and the blog sites are reading way too much into it.
February 15th, 2024 at 4:33 PM ^
Hart deserves all the privacy in the world as he deals with whatever it is that is going on, but in these times of uncertainty with the coaching staff it would be nice if they announced he’s being retained or something along those lines.
February 15th, 2024 at 10:55 AM ^
This is a new staff honeymoon, but Moore seems to have gotten some good coaches. Scruggs, Jean-Mary feel like they are going to be all-star recruiters and coaches and you have to figure Adegoke being in his 20s will be a good recruiter too. Throw in Bellamy's Michigan HS connections, even though he is a WR coach, and any deficiency Wink has in recruiting seems like it will be taken care of. Maybe we get a couple of portal dudes from TN or WI too.
