No more tweets, you say?

I'll scan the article when my newspaper arrives tomorrow morning.
February 13th, 2024 at 12:40 PM ^
Why do that when it will be in the microfiche cabinets in the reference section of your local library in the next month or two?
February 13th, 2024 at 3:07 PM ^
There was a guy at work who would print a certificate, scan it, and email it to show he finished some online training. It was already in a pdf format.

Whats the record?
Harbaugh was correct on the number of OLs that would be drafted. 6 OL were invited to the combine.

It's the record according to this guy:
https://twitter.com/BBsBigHouse1/status/1757451734690009350
sets the record of most invites to the combine...solidifying its place as one of the MOST DOMINANT teams in CFB history!
Most '24 Invites:
18 Michigan
13 Washington
12 FSU
11 Texas, Georgia 10
Bama, PSU 8 OSU, ND, USC, Mizz 7 Oregon

So does that mean we lose more good players than any of those teams? Because if that's the case, I'm not excited about it.
February 13th, 2024 at 1:47 PM ^
If we go back to the days of having 1 player selected, you're going to like a lot less. See Michigan State.
February 13th, 2024 at 3:26 PM ^
My comment was regarding how the roster turnover will affect the upcoming season, but glad you think it's a positive. I'd be much happier if some of those guys would have stayed at Michigan another year.
February 13th, 2024 at 4:42 PM ^
I think it's a positive because it resulted in a national championship. You can't hold the kids hostage.
February 13th, 2024 at 5:25 PM ^
It should be helpful in recruiting.
February 13th, 2024 at 2:21 PM ^
That's surprising. I would've thought some Miami team from the early 2000's, an Alabama team of the last 15 years or Georgia from two years ago would've set the record.
Of course, I'm not complaining. But I thought one of those programs would be shoe-ins.
February 13th, 2024 at 12:16 PM ^
Combine invite does not equal drafted. 321 invited, 254 players get drafted.
February 13th, 2024 at 12:33 PM ^
True, but still a good showing of how the team develops talent. It is now upon the players to razzle and dazzle the NFL teams.
Sam Webb has a good segment on JJ this morning regarding how a small sample of NFL execs view him.
February 13th, 2024 at 12:37 PM ^
Correct, but which UM players invited won't get drafted? Maybe Barner and/or Wallace? Barner is projected as a 6th round pick. Also, Q. Johnson was not invited but an outside chance he will. Georgia holds the draft record with 15 players.
McCarthy, Jenkins, Corum, Wilson, Mikey, Colson and Zinter all should end up going in the first 3 rounds.
February 13th, 2024 at 1:32 PM ^
Unless Barner has a bad showing at the combine, he's getting drafted.
February 13th, 2024 at 2:19 PM ^
Even then, he probably still is. Barner was the best run blocking TE in all of college football last year according to PFF. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Harbaugh is the one to end up taking him.
February 13th, 2024 at 2:48 PM ^
If he makes it to the 6th round the Lions may eye him too.
February 13th, 2024 at 5:08 PM ^
I don't disagree. He probably still gets drafted. I thought his pass catching was under appreciated, especially with Loveland lining up on the other side. The transfer portal haul from last year was a legit class.
February 13th, 2024 at 2:20 PM ^
true. but i'd bet $5 and a bucket of army men that 17 of those 18 guys get drafted if there are no injuries between now and the draft.
February 13th, 2024 at 1:52 PM ^
LSU set the record with 16 players invited in 2020.
February 13th, 2024 at 2:23 PM ^
I think there’s a new record number - by Michigan’s Team 144. That number is now… 18.
Wishing them all well - great success at the Combine, Draft, and their future.
My sincere appreciation for their contributions to an exceptional three year period in Michigan football history.
Go Blue!
February 13th, 2024 at 12:09 PM ^
Wow. That's an entire 11-man offense, every position - we literally had an NFL offense this past season. And the scary thing is that the defense WAS the better unit.
Edit - "might have been" now out, WAS now in!
February 13th, 2024 at 12:12 PM ^
I don't think you need to put that 'might' in there.
February 13th, 2024 at 12:15 PM ^
They haven’t made a roster yet. I would slow down on that.
February 13th, 2024 at 12:15 PM ^
And the scary thing is that the defense might have been the better unit.
Seriously?! Might have been the better unit? The defense was unequivocally the better unit.
We are not national champions without that defense.
February 13th, 2024 at 12:49 PM ^
The defense WAS the better unit. And tbh, the biggest success factor in our offense was our defense.
February 13th, 2024 at 8:43 PM ^
The scary thing might be the new Head Coach was the coordinator of an offense that had 11 combine players but was only about a B or B+.
February 14th, 2024 at 12:48 AM ^
Why is that scary? He used his talent correctly, unlike some coach down south.
February 14th, 2024 at 6:20 PM ^
Did he? That seems like an awful lot of talent to be something less than a great offense.
February 13th, 2024 at 12:10 PM ^
As long as we keep our identity tied to the OL/DL we will be ok.
February 13th, 2024 at 3:20 PM ^
These are the positions where training, and development matter more, outside of QB.
The UM must have a decent reputation otherwise why would there be a steady stream of OL transfers who were already well established on their teams? They know the UM can make them better - pro NFL ready.
I hope this will have a spill over effect - RBs and QBs would prefer to play on a team with a good OL.
February 13th, 2024 at 12:10 PM ^
NFL to UM: "You got any more of them OL?"
February 13th, 2024 at 12:14 PM ^
That is a lot of talent gone from the roster
February 13th, 2024 at 12:35 PM ^
I have the same view. That's a lot of high quality players to lose in one year. I wish all of them well.
February 13th, 2024 at 4:19 PM ^
This is normal attrition when you take out the covid year out. JJ and maybe McGregor the only ones that had eligibility left not tied to a covid year. JJ was true junior and McGregor RS Jr. I believe. Hell without the covid year, we don't even have some who were on the roster this year.
February 13th, 2024 at 12:39 PM ^
I think that is what happens when a team wins it all -- usually, they had a lot of good players
February 13th, 2024 at 1:09 PM ^
It's almost as if one could assume the team they came from was superior to all others...
February 13th, 2024 at 1:46 PM ^
Welcome to college football. They can't stay forever.
February 13th, 2024 at 2:23 PM ^
I don't know. Miami (YTM) has a TE coming back for his 9th year of eligibility.
February 13th, 2024 at 12:17 PM ^
Wow. Good for those players. Great year. Can you imagine winning the whole thing again even with the roster turnover? I know it is a tall order. Playoff or final four would be great for the program.
February 13th, 2024 at 5:49 PM ^
I know a lot has to come together on offense, but I'm guessing Vegas has us well within the top 11 (non-P5) teams to make the playoff.
With the best defensive tackles, the best lockdown corner, and very good other returnees, that defense should be elite again.
Against PSU, OSU, Bama, & Wash, the defense gave up 15, 24, 20, and 13. Will the offense be able to possess the ball sufficiently and score in that ballpark? I hope so.
Now can a brand new offense go 3-for-3 or 4-for-4 matching those totals in the playoffs to repeat as National Champions? Yes, that's a tall order, but I'm thinking there aren't more than 5-6 teams that have a better shot at pulling it off.
February 13th, 2024 at 12:25 PM ^
I think that is every draft eligible Michigan player that saw significant snaps this year except Cam Goode and Quinten Johnson.
February 13th, 2024 at 12:32 PM ^
they missed our kicker
February 13th, 2024 at 12:38 PM ^
I don’t think a college team in the country could beat those guys.
