Warde Manuel to chair CFP selection committee
February 8th, 2024 at 1:10 PM ^
This was my reaction, as well
February 8th, 2024 at 2:04 PM ^
Here I thought there was a small chance that he would go away and the dude was playing 4D chess to beef up his job security. Son of a bitch.
February 8th, 2024 at 2:44 PM ^
He'll be more anti-Michigan than any of the others in the selection committee.
Will also take this job more seriously than making Michigan athletics the best it can be.
Adding another pencil pushing sloth to the committee makes perfect sense.
February 8th, 2024 at 5:17 PM ^
Once you think about this, it's a perfect fit for Warde. It's a position that requires defending the indefensible for no reason other than to provide plausible misdirection, even if it doesn't make sense. Look no further than justifying Alabama jumping FSU for no other reason than to punish FSU for not losing their games.
Warde can weasel out of dumb decisions as well as any administrator in the game...
February 8th, 2024 at 1:07 PM ^
Warde, if you need to make that a full-time obligation, we understand.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:09 PM ^
Well I guess he is not getting fired anytime soon.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:28 PM ^
I dunno. Maybe if we make a dozen more threads about him every day, and pin a 50,000 word essay about him at the top of our forums, we can get it done.
February 8th, 2024 at 2:32 PM ^
Don't give these people any ideas.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:42 PM ^
Warde will bend over backwards to appear impartial, so don't count on any favoritism. Except in the single most crucial cfp seeding slot: #8 (home game) vs #9 (visitor). There's $$ in that there!
But if we do fire him he'll screw us for sure!
WTF, fire him anyway!
February 8th, 2024 at 1:55 PM ^
I heard that Warde owns the lab in Wuhan that leaked the COVID-19 virus and that it happened because Warde was too cheap to pay for a good defensive coordinator.
February 8th, 2024 at 8:40 PM ^
I don't think Warde's bending over backwards.
February 8th, 2024 at 10:40 PM ^
he only goes forwards
February 8th, 2024 at 2:23 PM ^
On the positive side, maybe his top criteria for making the CFP will be teams that are transformational and not transactional.
February 8th, 2024 at 11:09 PM ^
Maybe we should agree and not pay him.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:09 PM ^
Apparently the CFP Committee doesn’t read MGOBLOG
February 8th, 2024 at 1:33 PM ^
Or they do. The CFP doesn't need innovation given they have the only game in town. They need a calm suit who doesn't rock the boat...
February 8th, 2024 at 3:25 PM ^
Ironically that’s what we needed too but Warde fucked that up
February 8th, 2024 at 1:45 PM ^
Or they need another fall-guy.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:10 PM ^
He ain’t goin nowhere …… sigh…..
February 8th, 2024 at 2:13 PM ^
Probably not but it would be quite the story if the dude who was named head of the whole thing lost his primary job on the same day
February 8th, 2024 at 1:10 PM ^
Connor Stalions has a better eye for talent than Warde imo
February 8th, 2024 at 9:08 PM ^
And knows how to vet better, too.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:13 PM ^
I guess they needed a lead clown to run the clown show
February 8th, 2024 at 1:13 PM ^
Ahh I see. To avoid upsetting anyone by having Michigan hog the CFP spotlight, he voluntarily allowed the program to crater for the foreseeable future.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:14 PM ^
Embarrassed for all parties
February 8th, 2024 at 1:14 PM ^
*#Michigan
February 8th, 2024 at 1:15 PM ^
College Football's gift to Warde-
"Warde chase out Harbaugh, make Michigan mediocre, bend over to the NCAA/Big Ten, and we will reward you with being Chair of the CFP committee."
February 8th, 2024 at 1:20 PM ^
bingo
February 8th, 2024 at 1:22 PM ^
It all makes sense now!
February 8th, 2024 at 3:46 PM ^
Exactly. This explains a lot about his complete failure to stand up for his university and to failure to accomplish meaningful tasks as the AD of Michigan. He didn't want to jeopardize his chance to build his personal resume. Leaders and Best. We had one of the great leaders in Harbaugh, who set an example, stood up for what he believed in and taught others what leadership is all about. Then over the last few months we saw two complete failures at leadership - Tony Petitti and Warde Manuel. Petitti, who let the mob and social media make decisions for him and Manuel, who refused to do what was right and stand up for anything just so he could gain personally from not making waves.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:16 PM ^
Is this to keep us out of the playoffs next year?
February 8th, 2024 at 1:46 PM ^
Ha! I was going to say at least we all know he'll advocate hard for us to make sure we get a playoff spot.
February 8th, 2024 at 2:11 PM ^
The Portal will do that.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:22 PM ^
You gotta be f.cking kidding me.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:22 PM ^
In his first act, he will offer to have us voluntarily sit out of the playoff next year.
February 8th, 2024 at 2:50 PM ^
Have you seen our coaching staff lately? Odds are he wont have to volunteer anything.
February 8th, 2024 at 7:53 PM ^
We have a coach, but what staff?
February 8th, 2024 at 8:42 PM ^
Have you seen our coaching staff lately?
No. Brian's putting together a search party.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:22 PM ^
Step 1: selectively dismantle your football program to avoid any future conflicts of interest
Step 2: be selected to chair the CFP selection committee
Step 3: profit?
February 8th, 2024 at 1:23 PM ^
Welp, that's two more years of him here. At least. Good grief.
But maybe this will curtail the daily #FireWarde thread(s) on here? Potential silver lining.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:24 PM ^
guaranteed that the hairless nuts had everything to do with this appointment!!!
February 8th, 2024 at 1:36 PM ^
Is it possible to be fired from your AD job and still be the chair of the selection committee?
Asking for 110k friends.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:37 PM ^
Any chance of this turning into a full-time role?
Edit: I see I was beaten to this above, so I'll revise to say I hope this doesn't interfere with his groundbreaking work in the area of NIL.
February 8th, 2024 at 8:44 PM ^
Warde is really good at groundbreaking work, but so are backhoes.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:37 PM ^
Isn't his full name, Warde Manuel Excel?
February 8th, 2024 at 1:37 PM ^
I was on student council at my (small, private) college, and it seemed like the president of our student council was more focused on the regional and national college boards they were a part of that brought them prized resume bullet points, than, like, doing the job at our school.
...Anyway, just a story I randomly thought of. Nothin' to do with nothin' or anything.
February 8th, 2024 at 1:37 PM ^
That has to be a custom ordered chair that they’ll need.
