Coach Harbaugh's Chickens
Can any Los Angelenos confirm whether or not local zoning laws allow for chicken coops? If Coach was willing to leave behind his girls then that helps me rest easier knowing there's nothing we could have done to stop him. He loves those birds.
Go Blue! Go Coach Moore!

WTF is right, we've had some weird ass threads around here lately.
I guess I'm glad those animated chickens are Michigan Fans.

Is this from the Edge of the internet?
January 28th, 2024 at 9:20 AM ^
No, this was a true story from the WSJ that he raises chickens in his back yard. I posted the thread a while back, so a seriously shit thread topic.

What is he going to do with his snow shovel? Can I have it?
January 28th, 2024 at 11:09 AM ^
Probably kill the chickens.
January 28th, 2024 at 12:13 PM ^
Not happening.
January 28th, 2024 at 2:26 PM ^
Chickens literally coming home to roost.
January 28th, 2024 at 1:06 AM ^
Get the cluck outta here with this...
January 28th, 2024 at 12:47 PM ^
Oddly…..Tom Crean already has dibs if Jim isn’t taking the Harbaugh family chickens with him.
January 28th, 2024 at 12:57 PM ^
Not so odd. They’re in laws.
January 28th, 2024 at 1:04 PM ^
Yooo this is the scoop I was looking for! Thank you! Glad they've got a home.
January 28th, 2024 at 3:24 PM ^
I thought it was the Coop you were looking for.
January 28th, 2024 at 1:46 PM ^
I wondered about his chickens...hopefully we'll get further updates!
January 28th, 2024 at 1:08 AM ^
Confirmed that most people in LA have chickens in their backyard. I heard that was a big factor in his decision
January 28th, 2024 at 1:51 AM ^
Guys in my high school kept chickens in their backyards all the time. It was no big deal.
January 28th, 2024 at 4:17 AM ^
Yep, I have a friend who always has 4 or 5 chickens in her backyard out here and she buys them when they're chicks.
They're really cool animals, very docile and when they get used to you, they hang around you and are friendly.
January 28th, 2024 at 7:28 AM ^
Eggs from the backyard are what eggs are supposed to taste like.
January 28th, 2024 at 7:48 AM ^
I only feed my backyard fresh, organic products so the eggs I get can reach their full potential.
January 28th, 2024 at 10:28 AM ^
I feed mine whatever rotting scraps are leftover in the fridge and their eggs taste just the same as yours.

My wife and I once ate dinner at a friend’s house just outside A2 city limits. He had a bunch of chickens that he kept in a large fenced enclosure in his back yard, and we ate our dinner at a picnic table right next to the chicken yard.
He told us to just pitch our table scraps into the chicken yard, and the chickens enthusiastically went after the scraps.
What I didn’t expect was that the scraps the chickens most eagerly went after were the fried chicken bones and skin.

Can't live with chickens without recognizing that they are descended from dinosaurs.
January 28th, 2024 at 10:10 AM ^
Roosters are assholes
January 28th, 2024 at 11:36 AM ^
Chicks peck each other to death on the regular.
January 28th, 2024 at 11:52 AM ^
Sorta resembles MGoBlog in that way.
January 28th, 2024 at 1:08 PM ^
So if the rooster is having sex with the hens, who's having sex with the chickens?
Or is it the other way around?
Asking for Frank, a friend...
January 28th, 2024 at 12:27 PM ^
But are they nervous?
January 28th, 2024 at 12:44 PM ^
Except if you have a rooster. In the neighborhood where my office is located, a guy has hens and a rooster. That damn rooster crows every minute day or night. If I was living on that block my goal would be to make that rooster into a fried chicken dinner.
January 28th, 2024 at 2:28 PM ^
Can coach take all the chicken littles with him as well?
January 28th, 2024 at 1:19 AM ^
He should buy a house in the San Fernando/Pacoima area. No zoning laws or coops needed. Free range street chickens are a way of life.
January 28th, 2024 at 4:27 AM ^
Not sure if you're joking or not but if you're not....are you fucking crazy?
Driving from Pacoima to Inglewood would be so annoying and the new practice facility is in El Segundo. With the money Harbaugh makes, I'm thinking somewhere like Pacific Palisades or something like that, rich and beautiful area near the beach and not too far from work.

A quick Google search shows that “backyard chickens are permitted in most neighborhoods in Los Angeles.”
I would guess that the neighborhoods they’re not allowed would be the ritzier, more uppity types. IIRC there was controversy in Barton Hills (where his chickens currently reside) over residents having chickens in their backyards because people obsessed with money love to tell other people what they can do with their homes if it might be perceived to negatively affect property values.
January 28th, 2024 at 10:03 AM ^
His house is actually in the Ann Arbor HIlls neighborhood off Washtenaw. It's not as uppity and snobby as Barton Hills where David Brandon's house was. Those people would never allow chickens.
January 28th, 2024 at 10:16 AM ^
You mean Ever After, "a place the Brandon's could live...Happliy Ever After"?

California has peacock issues... not chickens.

El Segundo? I left my wallet there.
January 28th, 2024 at 11:08 AM ^
I’m guessing he ends up in Manhattan Beach. Short drive to El Segundo (don’t have to get on a freeway*), nice parish and school in American Martyrs, kids can go to high school at Bishop Montgomery or Costa. Good size houses if you have $10M to spend on those things, which he does. Lots of good restaurants in the area, and walks along the beach are great. And to address the OP, I have seen backyard chickens in Manhattan Beach. Whether that’s legal or not, MB cops are way more laid back than Malibu sheriffs. Yes, that’s a Big Lebowski reference.
*This is really the key to living in LA. Find a job near your house or vice versa. LA freeway traffic is awful. Local traffic is bad, but at least you’re not spending an hour on a freeway to go 10 miles.
January 28th, 2024 at 1:26 PM ^
I'm guessing Rancho Palos Verdes. With an $12M contract it only makes sense for him to transition from chickens to peacocks.
January 29th, 2024 at 12:31 AM ^
i remember staying Lihue, HI and there were free roaming chickens all over the town. Funny that chickens were let lose like that.

He can afford to buy them their own LA bungalow. The chickens will be fine my dude.
January 28th, 2024 at 1:33 AM ^
So weird.
January 28th, 2024 at 1:42 AM ^
I'm more interested in how he's getting them there.
I'm imagining a Saudi Prince/Falcons situation, but with Harbaugh/Chickens...

Dont mess with Falconry dude, its the shit!

This is a fowl post.

No, that would be personal fowl, and it's against the rules in both college and pro football. I think Petitti was about to dock him another three games.
