CFB Risk Day 5 - And THIS is Why They Nerfed Us
So last night was fun.... Y'all responded to the clarion call in a BIG way last night. On Monday night we had 277 players....last night we had 483! Now that's what I'm talking about!
For context, the next largest team (Ohio State), had just 279. #TheMichiganDifference.
So what did we do with this absurd enthusiasm advantage? We took every single territory we could of course! A perfect 5/5 while successfully defending Ann Arbor (including Toledo -- back where it belongs). What's more, none of these battles were remotely close. In the most heavily contested territory -- South Bend, home to the Irish -- we had nearly a 10-to-1 numbers advantage. Basically, it was less of a fight for our neighbor territories, and more of a stampede of Wolverines (could you imagine how scary that would be IRL?).
Speaking of South Bend, in a cool bit of instant karma, Seth -- who has been super supportive of our efforts -- actually WON South Bend last night. This is a completely random process, so I'd like to think the Reddit gods smiled upon Seth for his support of the game. Congrats Seth!
After we pat ourselves on the back for an excellent round, though, we need to get ready for real war. Ohio State also had a clean sweep of their neighbors, and Wisconsin has taken northern Michigan as well as Chicago. To put the situation differently, we're now next door neighbors with the 2nd and 4th largest armies in the game. And while we have by far the largest army in the game, the combined forces of the Badgers and Buckeyes are larger than our own.
And so, MGoHorde, we need to get even BIGGER! At one point last night a Discord moderator said their vetting system was overwhelmed and kindly asked us to stop. That means y'all are doing it right! I'm seeing more and more Wolverines sign up for the Discord every day, and I want the vetting line OUT THE DAMN DOOR AND AROUND THE BLOCK!
Go Blue and f*ck everybody in our way!
Steps To Play Every Day
(1) Sign up for a reddit.com account if you don’t have one already
(2) Visit collegefootballrisk.com – Click Sign in with Reddit – Select Michigan as your team
(3) Join the Michigan Risk discord by going to https://discord.gg/9xtrWhyR
(4) Go to the "vetting" channel and type in your MGoBlog username and Reddit username.
(5) Once vetted, get your orders from the "orders" channel.
(6) Return to collegefootballrisk.com – Click on the "target" icon at the bottom of the page (3rd button from the right), and then click on the territory you're attacking or defending.
(7) Talk trash with your fellow Wolverines as we prepare for tonight's roll.
How Does the Game Work?
It is up to each team to recruit players and coordinate moves. You can choose to defend any territory that your team currently holds or attack any adjacent territory. A "roll" happens each evening to calculate which teams have won which territories that turn based on the moves that were made by individual players. The ultimate goal is to conquer as much of the map as possible for your team. There are a number of different ways to do this, such as through recruiting players in sheer numbers or forming alliances with other teams.

Poor Indiana. They are already burdended by Gary-- why give them Columbus too?
January 25th, 2023 at 1:27 PM ^
Yes, we would have two Columbuses, which would be very confusing, in a brother Darryl kind of way.
January 25th, 2023 at 2:07 PM ^
Hah! I remember reading The Stand as a teenager. A character - Trashcan Man, I think - basically sets fire to the entire city of Gary. I remember reading that, thinking it was so unfair to Gary. Then I did the drive between AA and Chicago a few dozen times... and I kind of get why King my have written that up.
January 25th, 2023 at 1:11 PM ^
I want Cedar Point, but not Toledo. Can this map be adjusted for those of us who have, you know, been to Toledo?
(unless you want the best deals in North America on fentanyl, in which case, by all means, carry on...)
Edit: US / Canada. Not including points south

Hey, we're good at human trafficking too.
January 25th, 2023 at 12:59 PM ^
hooray

(including Toledo -- back where it belongs)
Take THAT, Ohio governor Robert Lucas (1832–1836)!

Alright Seth! Way to stick it to the Fighting Leprechauns!

My first MVP!

I'm still having trouble getting discord access, so I defended Ann Arbor from Notre Dame -- anything we can do to stop this Catholic scourge* is a good thing.
The best development? Michigan State has been sequestered in Canada, which is hillarious.
*(I say this as a Catholic with a healthy hatred of the Figthings).

My favorite thing to tell my Catholic ND fans is "Fielding Yost was right about the Catholics"
January 26th, 2023 at 10:00 AM ^
Are you having trouble joining or getting vetted? If it's about vetting, i don't see anything in the vetting channel with this name listed so I don't know who to vet.
January 25th, 2023 at 1:37 PM ^
VET ME YOU COWARDS!
January 25th, 2023 at 1:40 PM ^
Aren't we pretty much guaranteed to get a Malachi crunch tonight from tOSU and Wisconsin?
January 25th, 2023 at 3:12 PM ^
That depends on what that means.
January 25th, 2023 at 3:27 PM ^
Wait, there are ample-bosomed women? Maybe I've been wrong about this game...

thanks for actually explaining the rules and how to join. I've been seeing this the last few years and never really knew what the deal was.
January 25th, 2023 at 2:08 PM ^
You're welcome. Though I just realized I forgot to use the official Risk Account. Oops!
January 25th, 2023 at 5:34 PM ^
I'd highly recommend joining. I watched from the sidelines season 1 and joined the latter half of season 2. Going all in this time and recruiting friends and family to join the cause. It's a lot of fun for such little time commitment (like 5 minutes a day at most lol).
January 25th, 2023 at 1:41 PM ^
Really like how this year includes all of North America. Be interesting to see how that plays out
January 25th, 2023 at 1:56 PM ^
META: Sorry, discord newbie here. Where/how do I let the powers that be know what move I made and my star level as requested?
January 25th, 2023 at 2:02 PM ^
under the #orders you click on one of the assignments for your star level. Star level is on the CFB risk webpage if you werent aware
January 25th, 2023 at 3:00 PM ^
Yep, just click on your user name and it will show you how many stars you have.
January 25th, 2023 at 3:46 PM ^
Got it! thanks
January 25th, 2023 at 1:58 PM ^
Uhhh. Seth. You’ve won, ummm, South Bend. Congrats?
January 25th, 2023 at 5:20 PM ^
You're thinking about this wrong. He's won Three Floyds; if that means we're stuck with South Bend and Gary, so be it.
January 25th, 2023 at 7:22 PM ^
If that doesn't make much sense, here's a reenactment.
January 25th, 2023 at 2:08 PM ^
The State of Michigan now looks like me last night, holding my phone in one hand hitting refresh with my thumb over and over trying to find out if I was vetted.
January 25th, 2023 at 2:20 PM ^
Jezus..... don't make us take Cleveland..... we already have to deal with Pittsburgh....
January 25th, 2023 at 2:42 PM ^
I'll have to submit my move soon. If I'm not vetted in time, what move should I make?
January 25th, 2023 at 3:41 PM ^
Just pick a move that looks good to you. The extra firepower helps even if not aligned with the group strategy.
January 25th, 2023 at 9:21 PM ^
defending an existing M-held territory is always a useful play

I think now we need to refer to them by their French name, Staée
January 25th, 2023 at 4:15 PM ^
Risk is for noobs. Play Axis and Allies.
January 25th, 2023 at 5:44 PM ^
Nah. Diplomacy.

Reporting for vetting and duty, sirs.
January 25th, 2023 at 4:51 PM ^
Keep the updates coming. Love this!
January 25th, 2023 at 5:00 PM ^
I just signed up. Assuming we can’t see the “Orders” channel until we’re vetted?
January 25th, 2023 at 5:24 PM ^
Correct. Your name will turn blue on the M Discord and you'll be able to see #orders. Mods are working diligently on vetting but it seems to be a very manual process. Pick a move today that looks good to you and hopefully you'll be vetted by tomorrow.
January 25th, 2023 at 5:49 PM ^
I registered this morning but still don't have any orders. Am I not doing this right? Never mind... I should have checked the rest of the board before posting. I will be patient.

Upvoted you to get you to Old 98, Tom Harmon points.

Dang I missed 5 days, not good. Waiting on vetting now.
