Will Howard will never be…

Will Howard will never be confused with CJ Stroud or Justin Fields, but Will Horward>>>than any Iowa QB (including Cade).

Their schedule does not look…

Their schedule does not look terribly tough. Really it is a 2 game schedule. They have to win in Oregon and beat (a step-back year) UM at home. I don't think PSU will put up much of a fight. Maybe a 2nd yr Nebraska as a trap game after Oregon, but that is it.

I would agree with you, but…

I would agree with you, but the pay-the-players movement is coming.  I suspect all ADs know it and (in theory) should be very leery of resetting the market in such a dramatic way. I could see $12-13mil, but don't think it will go much higher until the player market is solidified.

I think the op was counting turning it over on downs on the first drive

We also scored 45 because there were a ton of possessions in that game. Let's hope the d does a better job of stopping/slowing UW so that many possessions won't be possible.

Fordson had 2(!) 6-3 ~300lb division 1 DL at the same time!?! That had to be one hell of a high school defensive line!

Is it safe to assume UM is the home field side since they are ranked #1? Would prefer to sit in one of their sections if possible.

with no SEC team to slurp, he has to say something simply because he is on TV.  Its almost like you have to remove to get what he really thinks. Or thats exactly what needs to happen.

Mizzu does not deserve to win this game. what a dumb, dumb penalty

Cook is terrible. Just poor decision after poor decision. how was this team so high scoring in the SEC?

Does anyone else start…

Does anyone else start yelling in their head for Brian to acknowledge the sponsors about 30-45 seconds after the start of the pod and it becomes clear that he forgot once again?

I heard this this morning…

I heard this this morning too. Respect his opinion. I do think he calls them as he sees them. More disappointed that he called him "Nick Sainristil" especially since he personally handed him the MVP trophy only a few weeks ago.

I get he Higdon argument,…

I get the Higdon argument, but really Higdon was everything he was going to ever be. The bowl doesn't change anything for him. Milton however has not started that many games and every additional data point, especially after starting as few games as he did could really change the scout's outlook on him.

The point is, if you are at your ceiling, go ahead and sit out. If there is a lot more ceiling to be scrapped, then the bowl gives a chance for scouts to see any progress toward getting there.

This is one of the hardest…

This is one of the hardest parts of the transfer portal.  We have no way of knowing whether the kid has already flamed out, or if Riley really sees potential in the kid but wasn't willing to put all his eggs in one basket and now the kid is upset he will have to compete for next year's job. I am guessing he isn't homesick (he is from very close to USC), but hell, maybe he just wants to be closer to his girlfriend going to school somewhere else.

Who do you leave out of the…

Who do you leave out of the Washington, Oregon, USC, UCLA pod?

I think this a clear win for…

I think this a clear win for NIL and college parity. Georgia will always get good players but the days of each these schools stockpiling 20-30 5 stars are over.  There is just too much money out there to be spread around chasing the high end talent. This is good for college football.

Don't forget luck. I have no…

Don't forget luck. I have no doubt DeBoer is a good coach but with that level of talent and the number of 1 score games Washington played this year, luck was certainly a strong component of their season.  A few plays here or there and they have 2-3 less wins.  Now, you outperform talent rankings and luck over multiple seasons, then you have yourself a great coach.

What's crazy is there is a…

What's crazy is there is a world out there where Ewers doesn't transfer from OSU and it was him throwing to Harrison Jr and Ebuka. Not sure UM gets the best of them in that world.

The 49% odds are almost like…

The 49% odds are almost like the game with Bama is 50/50 and the title game will be a walkover.

This is where NIL was…

This is where NIL was supposed to help. The game sponsor can now legally and easily step in and offer $50K or even $100K to marquee players that consider opting out to play. I realize they are protecting more than $100K in draft position, but $100K to play 1 game has to be tempting.

I think having 6th players …

I think having 6th players (especially with the underlying development at UM that extra year offers) is really helping this team.   I know there is a lot of talent, but anything short of a senior+ laden leadership and the sign-gate becomes a lot harder to block out.

It is also a lot easier to…

If it's only to 70, that game is ending early in the 3rd quarter.

I think there is a lot of evidence out there that the better team does not always win.  A couple of inches here or there with a dash of luck thrown in and that's why college football is the amazing sport we all love.

Yeah this 100% us facing Iowa and them facing Bama next week. UGA will be betting favorite again by a fair margin if they beat Bama.

I think it is mildly funny…

I think it is mildly funny that Alex puts together these spectacular in-depth reviews of who is on the other team and what to expect from them, and yet, the majority of all comments end up being on Seth's diagram.

PS- I agree it is spectacular to see 9 of 11 starters with stars on defense (sorry, Alex)

I think the bend-don't-break…

I think the bend-don't-break vs. the don't-bend-fracture analogy is best. Here is the chart from the UM vs. OSU game last year:

I remember a lot of discussion last year about this and how the chart was used as evidence for the "just 5 lucky plays" argument for OSU last year.  Clearly, the style of play impacts this a lot.  Both PSU and OSU last year were very happy to have a lot of no-gainers at the risk of giving up the big gainers. Those arguing "a few big plays" though don't account for the increased likelihood of the busts leading to big plays when you try and defend a talented offense like UM's.  The big plays become less "lucky" and more inevitable.

Utah Zona? Is there an…

Utah Zona? Is there an interest in this game to UM or is it just a spread you think is interesting?

I don't care if the play was flagged, Blake was robbed of block of the week!

I can't help but think that the Netflix movie "Glass Onion" is at least a little bit based on Elon.

So wait, if Feldman…

So wait, if Feldman publishes this story along with Stewart Mandal's (mostly) about-face in his position on this, does this mean we get to subscribe to the Athletic again?

Is it possible that Rutgers…

Is it possible that Rutgers took OSU's #1 toughness ranking?  I knew the fighting Schiano's were tough, but didn't know they were that tough.  Maybe they colluded to share the ranking after their game last week? If so, I am sure Rutgers will give it back to OSU before 11/25.

I think the first time…

I think the first time gameday was here (a very long time ago), they were actually up on the Quad in front of Rackum Graduate Library. I say stick them up there again. See who shows up and let them have their show (and don't give any tickets to the game).

The reality here is not…

The reality here is not whether Harbuagh is actually worth points or not, but instead, whether the lay public thinks he is worth points or not. I absolutely think the lay public thinks he is worth points and agree with OP that if he is suspended this line drops to 3 or 3.5.  That would be a pretty major swing off of 7 to start.

I disagree with rooting for…

I disagree with rooting for Maryland over PSU.  We have to play PSU anyway and it would be more beneficial to us if PSU is ranked as high as possible when we play them.  It is unlikely Maryland would be ranked when we play them regardless, so let them eat the loss.

Then they can use wrist…

Then they can use wrist bands as Brian argues on the podcast. still not a reason to vote against helmet coms if you are truly worried about losing an advantage.

Great write up Bronxblu and…

Great write up Bronxblu and look forward to each game write up every Monday!

One of the things that sticks out to me, and this was highlighted by the Athletic article that polled CFB "coaches" that came out earlier today, was that if stealing signs was that big of an advantage, why would coaches allow it? Coaches in the Athletic article basically suggested that teams who steal signs gain an advantage of about a touchdown a game!  I know the argument against microphones in the helmets is that coaches want to steal signs, but are coaches really that arrogant to think that if they can steal another team's signs, no one would be able to steal their signs, and the touchdown advantage conferred is their team's alone to enjoy?? This makes no sense. If they truly thought other teams were getting a touchdown advantage, we would have had in helmet communication years ago.  Hell, even if it was only a 1 point advantage every other game, no way coaches would take the chance they would lose that point to another team.  To me, that's the best argument for why this is way overblown, and sign stealing adds little.

How about UNLV having a…

How about UNLV having a higher rated offense than 9(!) BIG teams!!!
