This thread seems unnecessarily hateful 😂 - BUT, it sure is fun to dunk on the SEC!
Just win. I’m not sure I care about any other big ten team
I am sure. The Big Ten can flame out, I only care about Michigan. No conference pride from me.
I used to be all about the conf during the tourney, but now not so much. I'm all about a strong conf during the season because iron sharpens iron, but all bets are off during the tourney. All that matters now is what gives us the best path to the final four

Purdue is the only other big ten team I can get behind. I like Painter and think they play pretty solid ball. Fuck everyone else. GO BLUE!!

I agree, I also really like Painter and I love Purdue's offensive style

I care very deeply. I want every other Big Ten team to get run off the court by underdogs. Conference pride is for SEC losers and I mean that quite literally. You don't see Bama celebrating when other SEC teams win. It's just the Mississippi State's and Florida's of the conference who pull that shit because they can't win on their own
It's necessary. Always.

Spend a few days in SEC country and you'll understand the sentiment.
Go Blue!
Agreed, no matter the context.
Every $EC loss has been to a double digit seed, yikes
Big on hype, not much substance
Michigan is not your average 11 seed. I mean, shit, when we are playing our best we could go toe to toe with the top teams.
March 19th, 2022 at 10:44 PM ^
Agreed. Well, Michigan was favored so I find the underdog/upset idea a little less meaningful.
March 19th, 2022 at 11:02 PM ^
Michigan was +6.5 just before the game so we were the underdog. Tennessee is a really good basketball team. Today we were a tick better. It was razor thin mostly because Tennessee forced us into some untimely turnovers. Their defense is no joke. Otherwise we played pretty good. It wasn't our best overall effort on offense. But the defense stepped up when needed. I'd say this was Michigan's finest defensive game all season.
March 19th, 2022 at 11:13 PM ^
Tennessee couldn't buy a 3-pointer all game. That has been a common theme in their losses. If they can hit 3's they pretty much win.
This sounds familiar...

I don't understand seeding. Did anyone honestly think Michigan was merely the 40th-44th best team this year? IIRC both Kenpom and Torvik had Michigan in the upper 20's, which feels right, but would make us a more like a 7 seed.
March 19th, 2022 at 11:14 PM ^
Michigan had a terrible record at 17-14. Giving them a higher seed would have gone against years of precedence. Heck, we're just lucky they use analytics at all--15 years ago there is no way this team gets in.
And we played nowhere near our best today. This wasn’t even close to how we played vs Purdue.
Would be crazy to get another shot at Arizona

Two more SEC teams to play, and they both play double digit seeds this round, including NMSU who is currently leading Arkansas. Could have a clean sweep.
Double digit seeds are going all General Sherman on the SEC.
March 19th, 2022 at 10:52 PM ^
I had a “Finish what Sherman started” shirt made for the orange bowl. Wore it to the game, and every time we got out of the van on the drive down.
They are really sore losers.
It's all gravy after Kentucky.

and Tennessee
I wonder if ESPN/CBS will go on and on about how the SEC has under performed in tournament this year. The same way they did with the Big Ten last year.
I noticed a graphic during the Michigan game saying the Big Ten, ACC, and Big 12 were 18-4. No mention of the SEC record on CBS.
That was charitable given that three of the four losses (IU, Iowa, and Rutgers) are from the Big Ten.
Having the conference tourney champ get knocked out by a 12 seed in the first round was not ideal... also Illinois was 1 shot away from losing to Chattanooga. The B1G hasn't exactly been lighting the tourney on fire. I think Purdue is the only team remaining with a legit shot at the final four.
Edit: I just realized something... during which game was that graphic on screen? VA Tech and Baylor have both lost which would mean that the three conferences have at least 5 losses now. Must have been during the Baylor game? Unless the first four games weren't counted in the graphic...

They were referring to the first round, which didn’t include Rutgers. Also Rutgers wasn’t in the NCAA tournament this year, so I don’t know why you’re talking about them.
Edit: meant as a reply to 1974 above.
313!
Fuck Free World!
Now *this* is a sentiment we can all get behind.
There is nothing new here relative to basketball and the SEC. Physical talent takes you much further in football.
That's always upvote worthy.
I LOVE to see the SEC lose. Sure it's petty and small of me, oh well.
Michigan feasting on an SEC team is just the best!
Couldn't resist.
And you just know R Moss, w those sunglasses on, was high as a kite...
Sing it, “Rocky sucks.”
Go Blue!
The SEC GOT FISTED!
Big Dick
Uh name fucking checks out.
moar fisting from big Dick
and moar posts from DD
One of the greatest things about the game tonight was Plavsic scored on Hunter at one point and went down doing the hand dangling thing Hunter does and then Hunter promptly comes down and scores on him and shuts him up.
Got a little tired of the announcers servicing the Vols sexually because of the ungodly numbers they put up against Longwood. At some point you have to address the elephant in the room and remember they were playing Longwood!
But fuck the SEC, indeed. Love that Michigan has sent Tennessee home from the tourney 3 times this past decade.
Yep, Tennessee could stroke it with Longwood. But they shot their wad too early and couldn't get up for Michigan.
It happens to a lot of teams.
Guys sorry I dont know how to embed but the SEC’s new website is worth a look.
