Dax Hill news (good)
Sam Webb said today that he is on the cusp of making a Crystal Ball pick for Dax to Michigan.
This may be Najee Harris redux (reDax?) but it brings more than a glimmer of hope to a recruitment that seemed fanciful at best.
Oklahoma was the favorite but their top analyst put in (lukewarm) the CB for us the other day.
It's happening? There's a chance... Would be a great get.
Yogi says it's Deja vu all over again.
3 more of these posts, and I am gonna start believing we have a chance with this Dax Hill guy!
There has to be a third. So just one (1) more.
Wiltfong said that we led a few weeks back. It's taken Oklahoma guys a while to come around to the fact that they're out of it, but they're echoing the Michigan sentiment as well. If Michigan folk, national folk, and home state folk are all feeling Michigan, then I think we can feel good.
Wiltfong said yesterday it's a toss up between Alabama and Michigan and that he can't make a crystal ball pick right now. Neither would surprise him.
Interesting, a few weeks back he had said something similar but followed it up with something like "but Michigan and their commits feel really, really good and I wouldn't be surprised if they led". So, maybe he's truly torn and deferring to how our camp feels, but at that time he painted it as a slight Michigan lead.
So Alabama it is then.
Ok all of this positive news is great and all, but my question would be why is he still going to an OU event and not the BBQ at the Big House then? Doesn’t add up if OU is in fact out of it.
OU is not out yet. Michigan leads, but OU isn't eliminated.
The OU mod said last night he's not going to OU and that the OU staff has moved on to other targets, but ok.
OK, but Dax is the recruit and is still visiting and that source is just a mod for a forum. I wouldn't bank on OU being completely out until the visit is cancelled.
He's not going to OU anymore.
"Dax basically told (OU) he wouldn't be coming to Norman and that he is leaning to other places."
Direct quote from the OU board.
I think Sam said he's not going to the OK event anymore.
Fair enough, then. I must have missed that part.
Would it add up if he canceled the OU event? That's what WolverinesWire are reporting.
Or what everybody else said in 9minutes :)
Not having travel plans to Ann Arbor? Not RSVPing to the UM BBQ? There's a lot of possibilities why he could not be coming to the BBQ and eliminating OU
Every 5* safety is Demar Dorsey until proven otherwise.
I don't think every 5* safety is a dumb thug.
I'm pretty sure what happened to Demar Dorsey happened a couple years prior to him committing to Michigan, and he was acquitted by a jury and the other charge was dropped. If I also remember it was Sharp(?) from the Freep that ramrodded the kid. If anyone was the "thug" it was Sharp and his BS journalism.
I'm in the "don't assume the kid can't meet very basic athlete qualification standards" camp
My comment wasn't made to make Dax sound like he's not an intelligent person. It was supposed to convey that we dont get 5* safeties
I know, but it’s a bad example. We actually got Dorsey, he was just an idiot and couldn’t get in. Getting the kid to commit/sign is different than the rare kid who is too dumb to qualify.
Idk, there isn't a long list of 5*s in the defensive backfield.
The not getting in blows my mind. I’m sure these kids have someone take the SAT for them, and after they get on campus they never go to class and graduate in three years.
I’m sure nobody is taking the test for them (some players do get people to do school work for them once they’re in school, but that’s a different story) but I’m also sure the bar for “qualifying” is low as hell. In ACT terms it’s probably about a 21. Dennis Norfleet got in for God’s sake, it’s not very hard.
It's rude and unfair to call a kid you don't know an idiot just because he didn't get admitted to the University of Michigan or for any other reason. Seriously Doc, wtf?
Don't mean to specifically jump on the OP in this instance, but why do people post shit with no other information other than a one or two sentence opinion.
When talking about a recruit, a little more info would be great. What position, what class, where's he ranked, where he's from, any ties to Michigan, an unclickable link to their profile...ANYTHING.
K thanks, bye.
"K"???
Dude if you don't know who Dax Hill is, where in the fuck have you been? There have been at least 3 other posts in the past 24 hrs about him, and there is this new search engine called Google you might want to try.
This is a bad opinion and you should feel bad.
I thought you were being sarcastic at first. Nope.
I agree, if you go through the effort to start a thread, a little more basic info isn't that much to ask.
A reader should not have to google the guy's name to find out his position, where he's from, etc.
I agree. Information is required in a post. A set up with multiple introductory sentences and a clickable link that do not duplicate a post from up to 48 hours ago should be a requirement or revoke OP privileges!!
I prefer to add gasoline to flames! Make the inflammable flammable.
Sam never once predicted that Harris would sign with Michigan, despite popular belief among non Scout members (at the time).
Not to mention, Harris was always an Alabama commit.
Sam Webb has said multiple times on WTKA that the Najee situation was one of the weirdest he's ever seen. Najee gave a verbal commitment to Michigan and the university had all of his housing, classes, etc. figured out and he was as good as a UM student at that point, but then showed up to Bama
The problem with Najee Harris was that Saban got the last word. After all but actually flipping, Harris and Saban talked on that last weekend before he was supposed to just show up somewhere. I don't know if Harbaugh tried to call, but the Harris plane went to that backwater in Alabama (via 17 other podunk backwater airports, no doubt).
Makes me wonder how St Nick sweetened the honey pot...
I think you meant to type "$weetened"
I'm not saying it was bagmen...
But it was bagmen.
If Tyrone Wheatley stays at Michigan, Najee Harris would be wearing Maize and Blue.
Nothing to see here. Tulsa frickin' Oklahoma. And this kid is way too good to get our hopes up.
OK, Viper maybe?
No, he's a safety.
Hill could be a very good viper, but that wouldn't be a taking advantage of skill set to it's full potential
I've been following Michigan recruiting pretty closely since the early '90s. If I had a fiver for every elite-level out-of-region recruit that Michigan has supposedly led for who eventually signed with some other school I could take my family to the Chop House for dinner, dessert, and cigars and still have some dough left over to order prime rib for my dog.
I guess I never realized that recruiting existed before 2000. I always assumed that football players were bred and sprung from muddy goo the way Saruman made orcs in Isengard.
Uruk-hai.
And the book slightly differs in how they were made.
Super-nerd
It's okay. I've read the books many times. I just thought the imagery from that scene in the movie fit better.
While Sam does occasionally have good sources and information that others may not, he is also completely ok with intentionally misleading his audience to get some extra clicks. Which is bullshit.
When it comes down to it, Sam is just a little better than ChatSports.
