The turnover part is a good point but the field position is marginal, and even theoretically worse then if you force the opposing team to punt inside their own 10 yard line.
An 11-point safety is a bad idea because there would then be no incentive for either team to cover a fumble in the end zone. Also, imagine the outrage at the 1st 11 point safety given on a marginal holding call in the end zone.
I do think it should be worth a bit more though. 5 points feels about right.
I agree with Brian on this. In college basketball, fouls too often punish the team being fouled. This happened more than once to Michigan last night and is always annoying(at least to me). I wish basketball refs would go with a more "play on" type style, not unlike soccer, when the offense is at an advantage.
Seriously, maybe think first before you post. Is this constructive? Is my opinion worth sharing? Maybe stop to consider that no one gives a flying f what you (random internet poster) think of one of the best kids in the program.
The fact that they base the rankings on if they think the one team will beat another is really dumb. It should be based on results, not their feelings.
I still won't watch the NIT, but I like these rule changes. To me, the 3 point line should be moved back. Too easy of a shot for these guys as it is right now
I think Lunardi tries to be somewhat predictive in this exercise. MSU's current resume certainly doesn't warrant a 2, so I assume he is anticipating MSU surging as the season goes along.
I think I would prefer a bracketology that was based solely on current resume but whatever.
Some good points, except your characterization of the Purdue game is flat out wrong. Purdue shot lights out from 3 and objectively speaking, many of those shots were extremely difficult. I mean, give them credit and all, but no matter how good or bad their looks were, the fact that they shot over 50% from 3 means Michigan was pretty unfortunate in the game.
For a coach who has a reputation for caring more about offense than defense, his decision to stick with Simpson, in particular during the disastorous OSU 2nd half, is a curious one. I am hopeful that we will see more of Brooks and Simmons moving forward.
I would love to see a breakout from Poole or Livers, but I think the point guard play is probably going to limit this team to a bubble type outfit come March regardless of the freshmens' development.
Point taken about a stripped down playbook, but given the protection issues and inexperience at WR, I think servicable for a redshirt freshman qb is about all you could ask for. Anything more, and we are talking about unequivocal star, and I don't think Patterson is that either.
Crazy prediction with no stakes because no one will ever remember I made it, possibly not even me:
If Patterson indeed transfers, I think Peters beats out Patterson for the starting position next year.
Due to:
- More time in the system.
- Peters being a better fit for the system
- Reportedly, (When I say "reportedly" it means I heard this from a college football analyst but don't remember who said it) the Ole Miss offense was very simple. The learning curve for Patterson will be steep.
- Most of all, Peters was pretty dang good during the limited time we saw him.
We got a huge break when Michigan St. committed a holding penalty while running out the clock, thus giving us about :35 for one last drive. Then, McDoom dropped the pass, nullifying our lucky break, and that was pretty much that. I am not sure what my point is.
I was thinking maybe Harbaugh was softening to the media a bit this off-season but as the season has started it has become clear that's a big fat no-go.
Seems like this type of defense would be a good one for the offense to face, given they see Don Brown's aggressive scheme every day in practice. Hopefully the passing game is clicking on Saturday.

This is so much worse than your original post and it's not even close.
Thanks for the heads up. The 1st version of this game was not nearly as in-depth. I will try this one out.
I might agree with you if it was really "very rarely". Happens in every game, imo.

I highly doubt Sam is trying to save face by looking even more out of the loop than before, but we'll see I guess.
I get so angry just thinking about him being a good dad.
I am not sure what is an average but I do agree that that seems like an extremely high percentage.
Man, the 3 years from him committing to Michigan to this announcement really flew by. Best of luck, young man.
Syracuse's defense is pretty poor. I suspect ND wins easily.
Incredible hit rate here. 10 out of 10.
A thread was definitely needed for this.

The NW game was AT Rutger
Just a man among boys. He looks like if Hulk played WR. Also, those are some Gator-y unis his high school wears.
The fumble was just dumb bad luck. Higdon lost his footing and his facemask knocked the ball out of Patterson's hands.
According to Chip, he has been healthy enough to play the past two weeks. With the team 1-5, it makes sense for them to roll with the Freshman though.
NW opened -9. That is quite the line dive.
He played quite a bit in the 2nd half
This is an outrage! I want my money back!
Brown won't even have to dial up any blitzes in this game...but, I am sure he will.
Dustbowl Brewery's the Therapist. One of my favorite IPAs
I honestly wish we would but am sure we won't.
3 more of these posts, and I am gonna start believing we have a chance with this Dax Hill guy!
He even kinda looks like Mo Hurst.
Big get for Michigan here at a position of need.
Founders Dirty Bastard Ale is underrated at T43rd, imh(umble)o

I am almost postive that he said a source told him that Michigan was out for DPJ. It's a little bit different.

1. Poole - Yes, he is ultra-talented but also just so dang fun to watch. More minutes for him, now, please!
2. Livers - This kid has it all. The man-to-man defense against Purdue the other night was high level. No way he stays off the floor as he progresses.
3. Iggy - The replacement for Matthews that fits Beilein's system a little more comfortably.
An exciting time for Michigan basketball! Now, if only football would catch up ;p
I am pretty sure the recipient of that stiff arm at 1:42 of the video now owes Van Sumeren his 1st born son. My goodness.

He asked for "reasonable" expectations.

The good news about a game like this is that it is kind of like a free roll. A loss doesn't hurt the resume too bad, but a win would be a huge boost.
All in all, would just like to continue seeing improvement in the ballclub, particularly at the pg position.
Thanks goodness we had a few fans chime in their opinion about O'Korn's qb play on this thread. Totally the right time and place for it.
Great story! Makes me want to root for these guys even more than I already do.
Pfft, no biggie. Our receivers can't get open against broken gate corners. Already got that strength neutralized.

This is a Letterman top 10 list, yes?
More like a bad take.
It was the Mallet mode play

I tend to agree that if the position group was really in dire straits, our secondary coach wouldn't be publicizing it in every interview.
I choose to believe you because it's what I want to believe.
