Whether this was a forced choice resignation or a firing recast as a resignation, it bodes well for Sherrone's leadership and management style. Clear values and a willingness to take action in support of those values is exactly what we want. I'm confident that we will find a great new DL coach soon enough. Onward and Go Blue!

Agreed.  If the reports I've been seeing are true he blew over double the legal limit so he was very drunk and behind the wheel.  From the outset of this I said I'm glad Moore suspended pending the results of the arrest - a tiny bit over and cooperative I'd be ok with a suspension of some sort and reinstatement under certain conditions.

But double the limit?  The man's gotta go - it sucks but I'm glad this happened fast.

and its really his third DUI, though one was plead to a non-alcohol offense and the other is outside the 7 yr  window.  dude has a long-standing problem.

and why he didn't get a ride, get a cab, get an uber, turn to the guy next to him at the bar and say, 'hey, i'm a former NFL guy and a new michigan coach, can you get me home?"

* thank you *

Yes, it was his third strike and Scruggs was "less than truthful" about his .16 BAC.

"According to an incident report released by the Ann Arbor Police Department, an officer observed Scruggs’ vehicle stopped at an intersection with its hazard lights on shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday. Scruggs told the officer he had two drinks at the Chop House, an Ann Arbor restaurant, before leaving at approximately 11:30 p.m. Scruggs told the officer he then stopped at the Pretzel Bell but did not have anything additional to drink.  Scruggs told the officer he’d recently moved to Ann Arbor and didn’t know where State Street and Main Street were, according to the police report. Scruggs also told the officer he’d been working late and was tired. The officer administered field sobriety tests and measured Scruggs’ blood-alcohol content at 0.16 and 0.17, double the legal limit in Michigan."

Sorry. But he had to go.

Hopefully for the better. Maybe Wink can bring someone in. Does anyone know if we had other candidates rumored for the position before he was hired?

Not in Michigan.

A human powered bike is specifically defined as NOT a vehicle in Michigan law.

MCL 257.625 -

 (1) A person, whether licensed or not, shall not operate a vehicle on a highway or other place open to the general public or generally accessible to motor vehicles, including an area designated for the parking of vehicles, within this state if the person is operating while intoxicated.

257.79 “Vehicle” defined.

"Vehicle" means every device in, upon, or by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a highway, except devices exclusively moved by human power or used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks

That sucks. Dude seemed like a good hire but he messed it all up. Honestly great job by Sherrone to make a one day story a one hour story by immediately suspending him.

Hopefully he's got some other connections ready to go. I would expect that - like luring Wink - you're gonna be able to go to a lot of DL coaches and just show them a picture of Moore, Graham, Grant, and Stewart and you'll get a lot of interest

Sherrone Moore has been doing a great job so far finding assistant coaches that (with the help of contributors to this blog and people like Sam Webb) we can get excited about.  Here's betting he'll do that again with the next hire.

Not that there should be an excuse ever - but ride share apps are getting banned in a lot of cities unfortunately, and even in places they aren't banned (the vast majority of the country still) the difficulty in getting a driver is wayyyyy harder than it was pre-pandemic.

For example, I live in arguably the busiest part of Orange County near SNA, and there are exactly 3 Ubers/Lyfts within 2 miles of me (all of them circling the airport).

Oh well though, hope they find another coach to fill his position in short order. Hate that it happened during this time of year especially.
