Will Howard is very mid and they are already talking about starting a freshman by year end

Meh. No more MHJR. Downgrade…

Meh. No more MHJR. Downgrade at QB. Wide receivers are still good but who will get them the ball? Line play is still questionable. And they  are running a modified to new offense this year. The d will be very good but effectively the same as last year. Loaded with talent but that ain’t helped em since 2019

Yes we need to copy the…

Yes we need to copy the model of last year’s national champions if we want to succeed…

Players are going to…

Players are going to transfer, be tampered with, etc. - it will happen.  Considering we lost our head coach and the entire defensive coaching staff, it’s a miracle we have lost the few players we have and mostly from reserves looking for playing time. And we may be getting a few transfers to come back in NHG and Amorion Walker. This is college football today. Buckle up

I dunno is a problematic to only land one top 100 recruit this morning?

Those duds are not duds,…

Those duds are not duds, that’s for sure

Maybe we're going for the…

Maybe we're going for the COVID reset approach the football team took in 2020 with OSU. Just cancel the season and come back and win a national title in three years.

Akeem Miskdeen is a dope…

Akeem Miskdeen is a dope name. That's it. That's my post.

I mean I dunno - UCONN has…

I mean I dunno - UCONN has fallen off lately. They haven't a won a title in like at least a week. They're probably getting desperate

I’ll toss out a dark horse…

I’ll toss out a dark horse candidate in 2021 PSU. That game felt like a turning point in the Harbaugh era somehow. If we end up losing that one, does the team have what it takes to bum rush OSU and start this magical run? Cade and All saved that season in my opinion there in Happy Valley which set the stage for OSU and beyond.

If my own life is any lesson…

If my own life is any lesson,  drinking to the point of not sobriety and then driving home can be a reflection of inner pain. I'm not going to stand here and righteously condemn him because, well,  I'm ashamed to say I've done it a time or two when I was a younger man. I was that stupid, selfish asshole putting other people in danger instead of doing the obvious, safe, and only right thing. It was then and is now a dangerous, stupid, and inexcusable choice. Denard should be removed from the staff.

But rarely have I come across people who do things like this because everything is hunky dorey in their life and despite that they freewheelingly do destructive things. Sometimes it's physical pain (and from what I understand I'm amazed Denard can walk after his football career), sometimes it's emotional pain, sometimes it's both. But part of why I both don't find myself drinking much these days AND definitely don't make dangerous decisions on the rare times I do drink is because I have moved on from a lot of that pain that held me in its grip. Maybe it was a stupid mistake, a one off, maybe the man is hurting inside, neither of which makes one iota of excuse for making a choice like drunk driving, but I'm glad it didn't cause any lasting harm to him or anyone else, and I hope Denard can find help for what hurts if that is what is going on.

not so fast my friend, one…

not so fast my friend, one of those guys was fired for getting his DUI, so he's not on staff anymore, so just one...just one.

Kadyn Proctor from Alabama to Iowa to Alabama this offseason would be an example

It's an NIL thing man . Rich muckety mucks gonna muckety muck but at least some of that money goes back to keeping players paid as opposed to the Athletic Department

I’d like to imagine someone…

I’d like to imagine someone gives me a few million bucks and then someone else does and a bit of a domino effect starts to happen but I’m in my early 40s and times ticking.

We just locked up our staff like two weeks ago. We are a long way from signing day and while yes we won a title, our head coach hasn’t coached a full season yet or put together his own staff and roster so it’s going to take a little time. Would be good to see if we can get a solid core to a class going in spring and summer, and then see what fall brings on the field. Sherrone is an ace recruiter and put together a mostly young staff who should be good as well. Let’s give it a few months

But what will they do when…

But what will they do when we come out with 10 OL and Alex Orji?

just keeping beating OSU,…

just keeping beating OSU, win most of your games, and make the playoffs every year. We won't be an unstoppable juggernaut, but staying at a high level of competition and smacking OSU around at least more often than not would be ideal.

This would be nuts but also…

This would be nuts but also awesome, and I hope he doesn't do it, but goddamn it if he does there's no topping that.

Feels like you are blaming…

Feels like you are blaming the kid for some stuff you don’t  have full information on, as almost none of us do. You give him a chance and honor his scholarship like any other student athlete until he either chooses to move on or gives you some concrete reason not to. Jace may not get much playing time next year but he’s talented enough to be in the team and if he wants to stay, he stays

Young guys, particularly…

Young guys, particularly guards, tend to make the biggest leap from year one to year two, so hard to say but I think it's a good bet he will be better than last year. Hard to factor in how the team was doing overall as well to get any real clear forecast.

Good stuff!

Good stuff!

Sinus congestion. Also when people don’t return their grocery cart to the corral.

At this point I'm concerned…

At this point I'm more concerned we'll lose guys to the portal due to lack of carries than trying to bring in portal talent. Do not want. We have two guys in Edwards and Mullings who could probably start for most teams in the B1G. Behind them we have Ben Hall, who Corum called out as the guy to watch, and highly touted RBs who haven't seen the field yet in Cabana and Jordan Marshall.

No offense to Mr. Hayden, but I'm gonna trust Michigan's talent evals and development over OSU

Who would really know if the OSU corners are any good when you can just run the ball whenever you want on them and win the game?

Bowers is not your average tight end compared to most “first round caliber” tight ends. I think the guy could be a difference maker from the jump

looks like he had decent to good run at Winthrop before landing at Charleston but not mind-blowing and was there for 8 years. Charleston he's done well with but might be a guy you'd like to see a little more mid major dominance from before stepping up to big leagues? Not sure but does seem like a viable candidate along with the others named in our coaching search. Be interested to see how his teams stack up on Kenpom

Juwan's story, to me, is a…

Juwan's story, to me, is a reminder that we are all human and to prop anyone up or condemn anyone is to refuse to acknowledge the complexity of the human experience. We are all the dark and the light. I wish Juwan's tenure had gone differently in many ways, including those off the court. It doesn't excuse any of the issues to say he's done a lot for this school and his legacy will still be intact here at Michigan. It's also fair to say there has been some significant damage done here (Sanderson leaving, program bottoming out, roster decimation) that needs to be rectified and will have to be a part of the discussion of Juwan moving forward. He put his hat in the ring, and his story is, like so many before him, not a straight line to glory. Things didn't go the way he or any of us would have hoped. Juwan and Michigan will both survive and go on to better things, I've got no doubt.

Let’s do this. Give Scruggs’ salary to Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant as NIL. Make them their own coaches and the money makes them stay another year. Job done.

Sucks but probably the right thing to do.

At least he doesn't have to…

At least he doesn't have to face that dominant Michigan D-Line that ripped him up during the Rose Bowl. Did you see that game? Man, Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham ate that dude's lunch. If OSU had to play Michigan this year, I wouldn't put him in the line.......what's that now? OSU plays who Nov. 30th? Oh. Oh dear.

OP said “remarkably” and not…

OP said “remarkably” and not “surprisingly”  and while used in common parlance in similar ways, remarkable means “noteworthy” or “extraordinary” - the word has more positive connotations than negative. It’s worthy of note, I’d say.

But if he had gone with “surprisingly”, ( which he didn’t), I’d say it’s still appropriate given that while I’m sure a good human overall, it’s fair to say incidents like the Wisconsin slap, the threatening to kill (as a turn of phrase) another head coach, and the altercation with Sanderson which were factors in the decision to not retain him and at least point to the fact that Juwan at times like many of us can struggle with anger issues and he may have felt this a situation in which anger could have felt justified. As with all mankind, we are all these things, classy and rude, angry and caring, kind and cruel, loving and hateful. It was great to see Juwan leave on this note, and I hope that both he and the basketball program go on to great things.

I don’t see the comparative…

I don’t see the comparative concern here. milton had an amazing arm and couldn’t complete passes in high school. He was the quintessential “reign in the cannon and you may just got something” project.

Orji has been called the best athlete on a team filled with great athletes. He’s already shown his running ability. He wasn’t able to show off much in the way of arm talent as they had him running gadget playing the midst of a title run. If he is Wilton Speight but fast we got something going here. And if he’s not you have an incredibly experienced B1G backup, a guy who may actually be Wilton Speight in Denegal, and a highly touted true Freshman whose hallmark was reading defenses and completing an insane percentage of his passes. Chillax my dude. This team isn’t going to need to lean on a QB to win many games next year. The Defense and Edwards/Mullings will take care of most of the teams they face.

The culture assessment…

The culture assessment sounds like corporate ass covering given the complaints levied by Sanderson. I don't think you can have someone file HR complaints about toxic work environments of this nature these days without doing an outside assessment unless you want to invite a lawsuit

I still like Seth’s idea of…

I still like Seth’s idea of just giving the basketball coach role to our best football player as an NIL gig. The MBB team will still suck but Will Johnson may stay another year if he’s making Howard’s salary

Hard to say with that pillow…

Hard to say with that pillow soft mentality Ryan's been instilling.  He's a good recruiter (who isn't at OSU though?) and their backs are usually very good, as in at least performing at expected rates. Their O-Line has been lackluster for a few years now in the run game so it's hard to evaluate, but he's been there a very long time and produced a lot of NFL draft picks so...

I love sandwiches…

I love sandwiches. Sandwiches are easy to eat, but I hate sandwiches at New York delis; too much fuckin' meat on the sandwich. It's like a cow with a cracker on either side. Walk in, order a pastrami sandwich. "Alright, anything else?" "Yeah, a loaf of bread and some other people!" "What kinda bread?" "Rye. No, fuck, banana. You got banana bread back there?" "What kinda cheese?" "Cottage." "Get the fuck out! I'm not makin' a banana bread, pastrami, cottage cheese sandwich! That would severely ruin my reputation!" - Mitch Hedberg
