The New Orleans kid seems down to earth and a good respectable kid. My favorite part is how big of a role the local barbers ( and their shop ) play in his life , loaning jewelry and a car to him so he can go to prom in style ( especially since he just got his license )
This season the talent seems a bit lower overall.
And I know he ended up at the worst possible place , but Fields looked extremely special in his season. Never want to see a kid fail , but maybe an off game in November would be fine.

So of course we bust ass down the road , during the ride ( 2.5 hours) I get filled in on the details, we are supposed to be incoming freshman swimmers , being recruited, which of course seems a bit shady because I’m 24 years old but who gives a shit, I figure it’s THE GAME , I’m good with that story.
Luckily we get there just in time, and my buddy tells us to go into the tunnel and find the big guy in the blue jacket ( easy enough on a game day in Ann Arbor , right ? ) my other friends all sissy out , so I was like screw it we drove all this way I’ll do it. So I find what I think is the right guy, I approach him and tell him my BS story, and thank god he seems preoccupied, so he hands me the tickets , I turn and start walking away , pretty proud of myself , and I hear “ HEY YOU “ I figure I’m screwed, but running isn’t an option, so I turn around and say “ yes ? “
He says “ can you do me a favor ?”
That favor turned out to be holding the damn banner as the team took the field!!
It is literally impossible to describe the feeling but I can tell you every single hair on my body stood up when the crowd roared and it was a sound that you could actually feel, if I was a swimmer I would have signed up that second, it was one of the coolest things I have ever experienced..... except ... despite being told to hold the banner with both hands, I couldn’t help myself, and Irons was the first player out , so I held the banner with one hand, and put out my other hand to give him a high fIve , which he did , and almost took my damn arm off. I turtled up and gripped that damn banner with both hands for the rest of the team!
It was magical ! And of course the game went pretty well for us that day too
