Just passing on information…

Just passing on information and trying not to be argumentative.

The OSU poster has been super accurate, and claims source is BIG broadcast partners.   For example, they said no 2 game suspension settlement was in works when there were rumors that was happening.  Same poster says Jay knew, which may explain why Jim caved.

Word on OSU site is that CMU…

Word on OSU site is that CMU coaches sang like birds to protect themselves and implicated two UM coaches. BIG was going to hearing with that evidence. So UM caved.

Well, we self reported our…

Well, we self reported our coach for lying to the NCAA and fired him for it.

The NCAA caught your coach lying.  What should UM do?

Is English your first…

Is English your first language?  If so, you could use some practice.

Yep.  We fired our coach for…

Yep.  We fired our coach for lying. Wonder what UM will do.

Tressel was forced out.

Tressel was forced out.

If you think Zach Smith is a…

If you think Zach Smith is a thing, you have no idea what you are talking about.  Really.

I'll start by telling you I Love Tom Brady.  Totally screwed by Deflate Gate.  It was cold. Pressure of balls matched projections.  He was fucked by the NFL , so I root for him.   Just saying that to show I'm not crazy.

As to Smith, the mother of the alleged victim is on Smith's side.  Said her daughter has serious mental health issues.  She said that Zach did not hurt her daughter, and said her daughter lied about it.

Now Urban is an asshole.  Can't deny that. (And while Tressel lied to the NCAA and deserved to be fired, everything you hear about him is that he was a great person.)

How do you think UM should respond to a coach that misled the NCAA?  Are you better than OSU?  Or worse?

OSU learned that Tressel…

OSU learned that Tressel lied to the NCAA in the process of an internal investigation (found emails showing he knew facts he told the NCAA he said he did not know), self reported the violation to the NCAA,  and fired him.

What will UM do?

OSU fired Tressel for…

OSU fired Tressel for providing false or misleading information to the NCAA.

There are programs that have integrity.  And those that don't.

Where does UM fall?

I had a BMW 330 ci for about…

I had a BMW 330 ci for about 5 years.  Common refrain -- great fun to drive, but the repairs were brutal.

10 years ago, I sold it and bought a used Infiniti G37 with 20,000 miles.  Zero repairs for 9 years and 150,000 miles.  Spent $700 on an exhaust issue last year.  And nearly as fun to drive.

As others have noted, our…

As others have noted, our DBs have sucked, and he could not get in the field. He is a kid that had big dreams that did not work out. Stay classy.

He has elite speed, but has…

He has elite speed, but has not done much on the field, including a game when Olave was out.

OSU's WRs are crazy good on paper:

Olave - projected first round

Wilson - same

JSN - five star in 2020 that beat those listed below for a starting slot job this year

Fleming - #1 wr in 2020 class.  Injuries have held him back.

Egubaka - #1 wr in 2021 class

Harrison - 4 star from 2021, and reports from camp are that he may be the best of the bunch.

You do know that the mother…

You do know that the mother of the alleged victim says her daughter is lying and Zach never hit her daughter.  The mother says that her daughter needs mental help and actually attacked Zach.  Pictures of her injuries resulted from her attacking him.

She also said that her ex husband knows it is true, but will not say anything because he did not want to ruin his relationship with his daughter.  His response: said nothing, no denial.

But go ahead and blame Zach and Urban.  You are as smart as people who do not understand that cold footballs have lower pressure.

OSU insider is saying that…

OSU insider is saying that the BIG is trying to arrange another game for OSU.  OSU may play Indiana again because Purdue is having COVID issues.

Insider on OSU cite …

Insider on OSU cite (Nevadabuck) saying that the BIG10 will likely find another opponent for OSU, so OSU has opportunity to play in the Championship game.

FWIW, 2 of last three…

FWIW, 2 of last three coaches that OSU hired were not big-name guys:

Tressel -- was head coach at Youngstown State

Day -- was an assistant at OSU, no head coaching experience.

OSU insiders say that…

OSU insiders say that Fickell would not take UM job due to rivalry.

Hafley never coached under…

Hafley never coached under Meyer.  Hafley coached one season at OSU under Ryan Day.  Defense improved a ton under him, but he had Chase Young, and two first round corners.

Can confirm that is true.

Being born a white male in this country really sucks.  Sure, it is easier to gets jobs, and the police don't kill me, and I am unlikely to be sexually assaulted.  But it is so unfair that black people can use the N-word to refer to each other, and women can use the c-word or the b-word to refer to each other.

OSU fan here.  Mattison and Haffley both had D-coordinator titles.  When that happens, the one calling the plays is the real coordinator.  That was Mattison, not Haffley.  Same should continue under Coombs.

Per ESPN:

"The participants allegedly referenced former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky -- who is serving a 30- to 60-year prison term for sexually abusing children -- by saying, "I am going to Sandusky you."

The actions included wrestling underclassmen to the ground while maintaining restraint, simulating a "humping" action; wrestling underclassmen to the ground while another participant placed his genitals on the face of underclassmen; and instances of the participants placing their genitals on the buttocks of the alleged victims and stroking their genitalia."

OSU fan here.  Here is what…

OSU fan here.  Here is what some OSU insiders have said on OSU sites that you may find interesting.

Parsons actually wanted to go to OSU -- had even named his dog Brutus.  But OSU passed on him because he was trouble, despite his immense talent.  (OSU stated that it was going to stop recruiting him due to a very minor recruiting violation, but that was a smokescreen to give OSU an excuse not to take him.  Who believes that OSU would stop recruiting an elite talent because he was accidentally allowed on the Game Day set?)

Backstory:  OSU and Michigan fans frequently criticized Meyer when he was at Florida for recruiting players that were trouble.  Meyer actually concluded that was true, and that he focused too much on getting the best players and not on character.  Caused lots of issues at Florida. So he decided to change that at OSU.  Hence, passing on Parsons.  And there were not any significant issues with player conduct at OSU under Meyer.

PSU took its chances on Parsons, and it looks like they got burned.

I was surprised to hear that…

I was surprised to hear that the word "thug" is considered to have racist connotations.  But I accept that the meaning of words evolves as time passes, so now I know.  And Beilein should have known its meaning -- and he must have, since he is claiming he said slugs.

Dude, have you ever watched…

Dude, have you ever watched a football game?  Seriously.  You have no idea how this works. For starters, it is tackle football not touch.

Here is how it works:  when a receiver is coming back to catch a ball, and a defender is in contact, the ref has  discretion - which is not reviewable - to decide when forward progress is stopped. So if the defender is just touching him with a finger, the ref will rule not down, and the receiver can spin and go upfield.  But if the defender has control and is driving the receiver back, then the ref will rule forward progress, and spot the ball where the catch was made.

The key is that forward progress is not reviewable.  And it was not called on the field

Really, I promise you that it is tackle football, not touch.

ND and UM as football…

ND and UM as football institutions look a lot alike.  Great academics, great history, national reputation, huge fan base, located in area with limited recruiting.

Oklahoma has the same attributes (sans academics).

Economic research suggests…

Economic research suggests that the reason for home field advantage is referee bias.  The do not think the refs are intentionally biased, but influenced by crowd pressure.

I can't imagine any college…

I can't imagine any college athletes will be getting national deals.  How many pro athletes get national deals?  Names that come to mind from ads I recall seeing within the last year:

Lebron

Rodgers

Mahomes

Peyton Manning

Shaq

I am sure I am missing some (I do not watch baseball, golf or NASCAR), but the point is that there are not that many players who are truly national names, and several of those are retired.

Regional ads will be a different story.  There will be some legit payments for regional ads, but a lot of what used to be illegal money will become hiring players to do ads.

An afterthought:  I think we…

An afterthought:  I think we can all agree that the NCAA can restrict who can participate, for example, it can have a rule that only students can play, and that you are eligible for only four years.  How different is a rule that you cannot be paid?  Arguments go both ways.

Arb Lover is right -- this…

Arb Lover is right -- this is far from cut and dry.  The US Supreme Court has held that the NCAA can issue regulations establishing the rules of the game (e.g., 10 yards for a first down).    But the NCAA cannot restrict universities from televising the games.  If it goes to litigation, the lawyers will be arguing whether rules on athletes being paid are more like the former or the latter.

Lawyers for the NCAA will be arguing that their product is amateur college athletics, and requiring it to allow paid players to participate would destroy the very thing they are selling.  They could say it is similar to a rule that a player needs to be a student who is making academic progress to play.  The reason that fans are interested in college athletics as opposed to the NFL is that there are restrictions on who can participate.  They distinguish themselves from the NFL by having a product that is unpaid students, and that the product will cease to exist if players can be paid.

Lawyers for California will be arguing that restrictions on payments to athletes are monopolistic efforts by the schools to keep all the profits from college athletics to themselves, and the games could go on just fine if the players were paid.

Were you aware that the…

Were you aware that the mother of the alleged victim says that her own daughter is lying, and that Zach did not hit her?  Most do not know that, since national media would not cover it. Link to one of the stories below.  Do some google searching if you do not believe an Ohio paper.

Courtney's mother also made a FB post saying that her daughter had mental health issues, would get drunk, and attack Zach.  Mother and father are divorced, and mother also said that father agrees with her [the mother], but will not say anything because he does not want to hurt his relationship with Courtney; father never refuted that statement.

So if the alleged victim's own parents do not believe her, can you really fault Urban for not believing her either?

OSU fan here.

You don't want Michigan to be praised in the national media for beating Wisconsin.  Indiana, Illinois, Purdue get praised for beating them.  Not the group you want to be in.  When the national media starts making a big deal out of the fact that you beat Wisconsin, that is when you know you have problems.

Playing Wisconsin is a no-win situation for an elite team.  You beat them, who cares?  You lose, then wow.

OSU fan here.  Kurelic is considered a joke among those fans that follow the team.  Don't pay attention to him.  We don't.

The two best OSU recruiting guys are Bill Greene and Mark Givler.  Givs had been picking OSU, but recently posted that he had talked to Zach's mom on Friday, the only thing that he was "cleared" to say was that the family was meeting over the weekend, and that he was not going to update his pick b/c he did not want to be flip flopper.  He has also said that he thinks PSU is out.  You do not have to be very smart to figure out where he is leaning, but he made clear that he does not know what Zach is doing.
