Which player are you most excited to see on the field Saturday?

I saw it posted on twitter that Milton has 3 games left before his redshirt will be burned, so I thought of the players that may see the field. Freshmen or others, I am looking forward to seeing a RB that has potential to fill the void that will be leaving after this year.

Agree.

In an ideal world I’d like to see us take a 21-0 lead in the first, pull Shea and give Peterson 2 complete quarters to run the offense. Then give Milton the 4th quarter. It’s college football and I firmly believe in taking nothing for granted so maybe it’s a game like SMU where we had to keep the starters in almost the whole time, but I hope not.

If we're up by 4 scores in the first half, the playcalling will go vanilla quickly. Do you remember how many times we threw the ball in the second half against Rutgers in 2016? It was 3 times. And that was after a pass-happy (/s) 12 throws in the first half.

If you play Milton in this game, you're getting him some valuable experience at the cost of losing one game of the Milton package.  Apparently Harbaugh thinks enough of said package to have used it during the Wisconsin game.  I'm expecting Milton's next action to be at OSU.

I want to see Peters and Milton play in this game, but I don't see any way Shea gets pulled before halftime.  Coaches are going to want to keep our first team offense progressing in game reps and there are plenty of plays that can and will be called to keep Shea safe.

To answer the question though, I agree on the RB take even though I think Evans and Wilson will be a fine combo next year.  Would really like to see some of our younger DBs get some good game reps.  Our DBs right now are running the WR routes for them and I would really like to see this continue in the future.

Normally I'd agree but...  1, Rutgers is weaker than Michigan's scout team. First team reps/plays against them don't gain much of anything in experience.  2, with the recent loss of the #2 QB, you have to get the other QB's in the game.  For a first experience of the season, even Rutgers will help.  Plus do it again against Indiana if they get a decent lead

Definitely want to see Milton show off that arm - I'm most excited to see if Welschoff gets some playing time. He fascinates me. Oh, also Mustapha!

Mainly:

Peters - for obvious reasons

Samuels/Turner - love to see some RB preview for next year

Pure curiosity:

all the Backup O-Line

Would love to see Donovan Jeter get some run.

finally the backup Linebackers and DB's would be great to see them out on the field as well as they haven't gotten much run this year.

Once we get ahead comfortably I'd like to see most of the starting D off the field, especially Devin Bush who has been out there late 4th quarter in blowouts several times. This really annoys me. Last week he made a flying open field hit in the 4th and I cringed. The guy only knows one speed and there is just no reason for him to be out there. Plus, there are some young linebackers who could use the morale boost to get some playing time.

Ditto Long, Hill, Kinnel, and Metellus.

Remember though our roster will be limited for a road game.

For the offense, I want to see Peters and Turner get some good runtime, maybe some time with the other one's out there.  If Shae goes down for a few plays (God forbid anything longer), I want to have confidence in him like I would've had in McCaffrey.  Need to see some redemption after that bowl game debacle.  And Turner would be a fun watch as he's the heir-apparent to Higdon and would be the likely character opposite Evans in the backfield.  We know that Wilson is good, but I think the athletic upside of Turner might be the better upside.

For defense, seeing some of Thomas and St. Juste would be fun, along with Cam McGrone and Jordan Anthony.  Would also like to see Luigi Villain get some playing time.  He seems to have dropped off the radar - haven't seen or heard from him since Spring camp.  It's been two years now, getting late real early if he keeps being injured...

I'm also curious to see more of McGrone. He was ranked a 5 star on 247 and we had the luxury of redshirting him because our LB core has been pretty solid. On defense, I would also love to see more of Woods as a potential Viper, JKP at S, Thomas, Gray, and Sims at CB.

On offense, I want to see more of Mayfield, Steuber, Spanellis, Filiaga, Hayes, Muhammad, Peters, Turner, Samuels, Barrett, Haskins, Van Sumeran, Bell, and Martin.

Peters - Want to see the floor in case the worst happens and Shea gets hurt

Mayfield, Steuber, Spanellis - Preview of next year for the tackles, just want to see Spanellis get some time because I like him.

Villain - Getting late early. Hopefully he's not banged up again

Anthony - He'll almost certainly be a big part next year but we know next to nothing about him.

Brandon Peters.  This means we are up by a lot and he gets some PT. Milton does not have to play. I think they should sit Gary this week and any other starter they can if they get up big early

This may sound like an attempt at humor, but I had really been hoping for a glimpse at Kurt Taylor in a Tru Wilson-like role.

Also Peters with a better OL and the other RS-Frosh/sophomore RB, and OT/OLinemen

We need to see Brandon Peters more than Milton, actually. Since Dylan is out for the season, Brandon needs to prepare as much as possible in case Shea goes down.
