lie-downs are becoming p-u! FIFY.
I'm very glad for Gentry and hope he proves the naysayers wrong.
Like I have said here before, Gentry could have refused and/or complained and/or transferred out when he was asked to transition to a TE rather than stay with his dream of being a QB. Instead, he did what would most help the Team, the Team, the Team and worked hard at becoming a very good tight end.
I'll be rooting very hard for continued success with the Steelers, Mr. Gentry!
Having coach Tomlin on as a guest for AED podcast has paid off for the boys it seems. New team I’ll be rooting for
Good pick by the Steelers. I think Gentry will have a better pro career than his college one.
Congrats to Mr. Gentry. I would be surprised he makes an NFL roster. Maybe a practice squad but he is going to really have to work hard on the physicality of his game meaning fighting for balls.
You can fight for THIS.
I wish the best to bush and Gentry but I am going to have to vomit in my mouth with all these wolverines on the stillers
Looks like I underestimated him. I think a lot of us did.
Best of luck to him. Found himself with a darn good team.
Would Karan have improved his stock if he stayed another year?
I think he would have benefited from another year, but given the fact that he's got a daughter and there's always the chance of injury, I can understand why he left (although I thought it was lame to not play in the bowl game.)
There are RBs rated lower than him who are getting picked, so it seems odd that he's not getting selected.
*Edit: brain fart on my part to forget Karan was out of eligibility. Go ahead and neg me, I deserve it.
*And now the Lions continue their 50-year tradition of ignoring Michigan players by taking a RB from Maryland who's ranked lower than Karan Higdon. Ultimately that's probably better for Karan, even if he has to go the FA route.
* 4 more lower-rated RBs have been taken instead of Higdon, including Mike Weber just now. Does Higdon have an injury that's depressing his value?
* So now Miami selected Chandler Cox from Auburn, whose rating is "No Grade—Likely needs time in developmental league."
I'm not saying Higdon was an early-round pick, but when when at least 5 lower-rated guys than him are already off the board and he's still waiting, something hinky is going on.
Yes. WTH is happening that teams are taking RBs not nearly as good as Karan?
Karma for skipping the bowl game
Didn't he run out of eligibility?
Beat me by a few minutes
If I'm not mistaken Karon was a senior so he couldn't come back.....
For some reason I was thinking he was a redshirt junior
On a related note, I was surprised the Raiders took Renfrow, I thought he could have benefited from another year or 2 at Clemson.
He exhausted his eligibility so he couldn’t stay even if he wanted to.
OT: Utah had a punter drafted in Round 4 and a kicker in Round 5. How odd is that?
Just watch, next year those positions will be lie-downs top 2 picks, book it.
congrats to zentry, so good at finding seams and breaking for extra yards.
question for people who know more about the NFL: i know there are flex tight ends, but is there a position for him to mostly focus on catching and route-running in the pros? just seems like physically he's a tall-ass wide receiver in the NFL, one who could give nightmares to shorter players in the second and third levels of a defense. i pretty much only watch college ball and don't really know if this is realistic, as he still had to block a fair amount in college.
either way, good luck to him!
He wasn't great at running routes and he had a ball pulled right out of hands by a much much much smaller DB.
my apologies, i didn't realize i was posting in the thread where we air our grievances with this young man's sporting performance.
You're forgiven for not realizing that someone might disagree with you on a discussion board.
A lot of UM fans were down on Gentry. Now he'll be rich.
He got drafted by the Steelers to be Ben's successor.
Awesome!
Congrats to Zach ... but where are all the posters saying he should stay in school, he won’t get drafted, he’s too slow (from the “Zach Gentry runs a 4.92 forty” thread. I’m looking for you MGroOld, UM fan from Sydney, I like Burgers etc. I hope he has a nice four to five year career [at least) makes millions and truly represents Michigan well in football and in life.
So, you've never had an opinion that was wrong.
Teach me to hit save while someone is talking to me.
I thought he might not get drafted. Instead he got drafted in the 5th round, and has to earn his way on to a team. Your victory lap is way premature. Let's see if he makes a roster.
His choice to leave early isn't looking all that much more wise based on his draft.
This board can be really pathetic. What’s wrong with speaking the truth? Zach Gentry was not a good TE at Michigan. Add in a poor combine and frankly I’m curious as to what the Steelers saw in him.
Upside and talent. He has played TE ... what .. 3 years. Dah.
I feel like you're very recently biases.
Before the OSU game I only saw good things about Gentry, how he was so much better than McKeon, etc...
Now everyone thinks he's ass, when in fact he's come up big so many times.
Gentry was no where close to a bad TE for Michigan
I think the Steelers saw a height mismatch, decent speed and he is a Michigan man.
Nice pickup for them.

Decent speed? Wasn't he the slowest TE at the combine?
He is tall, so there's that...but can he catch? Is he a good blocker?
Pat's. Green Bay and Pittsburg always draft well. Non example. LIONS
WAY TO GO GENTRY! Good to see him get drafted!
Probably shoulda stayed but if he performs well, he will get paid in his next contract

GA Isaac Nauta who was a five star TE who we really wanted out of highschool went in the seventh round of the draft.

These kids are getting drafted into the NFL, not Nam. Congratulation them, don’t act like an asshole.
Congrats to Gentry! Steelers are stocking up on M players!
