This is Juwan's first year and every game people make several posts about what he needs to do differently. This team sucks at shooting and sucks at FT. I see a bigger weakness in those areas than anything our coach is doing wrong.
Make the free throws at a decent clip and we win this game. Just unbelievable how it seems like for years now we choke our free throws away as the other team doesn't.
When was the last time one of our players went off making crazy shots? It seems like at least 1 guy on the opposing team this whole year makes difficult shot after difficult shot for their team. We don't have anybody who just gets hot.

Why does it always seem like Harbaugh is so damn conservative with his time outs? I can't stomach a re-watch of that game but I am almost positive we had a few timeouts left when we went for it on 4th and 2. Our players were clearly confused on that play as it had zero chance of succeeding. It has been this way his whole time here now. Use the freaking timeouts and take your time on an important play.
This is the same excuse so many keep giving as to why we lose. We aren't going to recruit better then them consistently. OSU drops a couple games a year to teams that have inferior talent. Its fucking possible to beat them with less talent. Our offense has been the primary issue, not talent. Yeah, yeah the defense got smoked last year but no team in college has a perfect defensive game all season including Alabama and Clemson. The difference is elite college teams have an offense that steps up in the big games when it needs to.
It is nice to finally have an OL coming into the season we aren't all stressing completely over. Feels like it has been that way for quite some time. This year it is the defensive line we are worried about. I am optimistic that our offense will more than make up for the downgrade in overall defense. Quick passes and additional RPO elements out of the shotgun in this offense should help keep our QB clean. If I remember correctly, it seemed like those long drop back PA pass plays would often get at least 1 dude from the defense breaking through.
If we can work through our offensive hiccups early in the season, the defense will feel a lot less pressure as we start to score more. We have taken a team with defense as its strength vs OSU how many times now and still lost. I am excited to see if our fortunes will change with a team that potentially has offense as its strength.

I am really hoping that our new offense does wonders for our defense too. Seeing all these plays, I just can't help but think this is the stuff that torched us against the good spread teams. Getting reps against an offense that throws the ball out quick and spreads it around will prepare the defense for the teams who do it regularly.
Overall I liked the episode but still had issues with a few things. I think my biggest problem was involving the main characters and the battle. I understand they wanted to keep a lot of the main characters alive since there is more to the story, but it was just silly how they kept battling on the front lines. It appeared that they were overrun several times by the horde of undead yet they kept popping back up and fighting while everyone else around them is dead. Those front lines looked to get decimated.
Then you have all these characters who have been in tons of battles yet their plan for this fight is to meet the undead head on in front of your walls? Come on people, fight like hell on your walls and flank with the cavalry. Charging off into the darkness without even seeing the enemy was doomed from the start.
This is where you miss my point. Of course some of these players are already getting compensation in the $1,000-$200,000 range. This is all being done through back channels. To do this right, there must be some sort of cap on how this will be done. Otherwise we are talking about 17-19 year old kids getting millions of dollars right out of high school to play for the highest bidders. Do you really think that is good for the sport? It is just my opinion man but I think that ruins college football and yes, it will be worse.
This goes beyond that. People go crazy for sports and their teams. Would you donate $5 to a fund for a 5 star recruit? I know I probably would since it is just $5. Some people will donate far more and could trigger an arms race for talent. Market value is a loose term thrown around without an in-depth look at where this ends up.
I am not saying we shouldn't pay the players. We just have to figure out the right way. I don't have an answer on how and I certainly don't trust the NCAA to figure it out and enforce what they do come up with.

The offense has clearly been the issue because they are not scoring enough to take the wins when the defense is not able to. When was the last time we can say the offense carried this team to a win?
Also, not enough people are realizing that this new no huddle offense will help our defense out in practice. Playing against a faster version of our offense that throws the ball around a bit more should do wonders in preparing our defense to play against similar offenses we see around the league.

I really hate blaming officiating bc it's such a shit show sometimes but the discrepancy in free throws in our two games against MSU is bullshit.
First game: UM 17-20 MSU 24-30 Lost by 7
Second game: UM 5-7 MSU 24-30 Lost by 12
They shot 60 free throws between both games and we are one of the most foul averse teams in the country. It just doesn't add up. We shot 7 total free throws in game 2 and they were getting and 1 calls without even being touched on the way to the basket. The big ten has something against UM and I hope things change a bit in our favor once the comedian/masterbator is gone.
