You guys can blame me for the basketball teams woes

I told the sports gods that they could have this basketball season for an OSU football victory, and B1G Championship. I never thought it would work, but I'm taking it. Sorry.

Obviously off-topic, but I recently had a conversation with my (college-level) students about the spelling of whoa/woah. Long story short, they were overwhelmingly team "woah," while I was in favor of "whoa." It seems that "whoa" is still the "official" spelling in dictionaries and style guides, but "woah" is often listed as an alternative. Based on the fact that younger people seem committed to "woah," I suspect over time it may edge out "whoa" as the proper spelling. Woe is me.

You can blame me. We moved to Chicago in summer 2012, just in time for basketball to start its magical run to its first Final Four in 20 years. This fall, we moved back to Michigan. My family and I are very sorry.

It's obvious Michigan basketball had to die so Michigan football could live. I guess we aren't allowed to have good football, basketball, and hockey all at once

i was hoping at least one person would get the reference.  i will say that our play so far would normally be enough to generate 'acute trauma', but we're all so full of football-elation that it almost doesn't matter.  i watched a bit of the end of the game with some interest, but without the slightest bit of angst.  well timed, given that our hoops season looks to be a rocky road ahead.

Howard needs to buy the whole football team and staff dinner. Imagine the fanbase after watching his team play if they didn’t have the football success to distract from whatever they are doing on the court.

It’s part of the master plan.  Juwan knew he couldn’t just roll a ball out on the court to replace the experience from last year’s team, so he worked on pumping up the Football team to enhance his own recruiting.  Mission Accomplished!

Great trade.

Much easier for Juwan to fix bball  letting these players develop and hiring some new assistants if need, especially given how he's recruiting.  There's no OSU football comparable (Duke, Gonzaga) in our conference, and even if there were, there's so much more parity in college basketball due to smaller rosters, (consequently how much 1 or 2 players can affect a team) and the nature of the NCAA tournament set up.

We're a football school. Last weekend was magical.  That 1 game felt as good as any of the UM Final Four runs of the past decade, and frankly, would have even felt better than had we won a Bball national title.

Love Juwan but he might want to lean on his assistants a little bit more right now as opposed to looking for replacements. Martelli has been through lows before. It wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine here for Saddi either. Eisley obviously has his job cut out for him to establish some good guard oaky somewhere.

Yeah, plus how can anyone get excited about any game where dribbling is required? I mean, dribbling? We're expected to get past that at a very young age! And who wants to watch people dribbling balls while wearing shorts? Nope, no way ...

That's not a real sport! You can't even charge into anything or anybody ?!?

Football rules the pantheon!

Go Blue! We crushed the Buckeyes, let's do the same to the Hawkeyes!

Thanks, I feel better now. ;-)

I actually tried this, but I tried to sacrifice a world series AND a Buffalo Bills season.  The Bills season looked shaky for a while but may have gotten back on track with that win over the Saints.  The world series never had a chance to be sacrificed when Jorge Soler crushed that ball out of the park.

Juwan has earned the benefit of the doubt in my book. Is this a bad start for him? Absolutely. But he knows that better than any of us.

Lots of growing pains to go through with a very young team trying to find its footing, but its a long season. If the team is continuing to get blown out in January and February then yes, there's a problem. But for now, just got to let these guys find their way.

Basketball has given Michigan a lottttttt of good memories over the last 10 years. It was bound to have some moments of returning to the mean.
