We need to be more passing spread than running. We are going to be down to just Milton at QB otherwise. Need to have quick throws for the QB. Not seeing any tempo - not sure what happened with that. Shea reads the slot and then rarely leaves that and throws off his back foot on most of the throws today. Our guys looked gassed on the O line.

They had no running game today.  Tough to run reads when you don't trust your backs to carry the ball - or more likely the one you do isn't healthy enough to touch it more than a couple times.  A lot of ppl wanted to see the passing game featured, you got your wish today and it look incompetent.  No wonder they ran Charbonnet 30+ times last week.  There isn't an easy fix to this offense.  It's not the QB, the line, the receivers.  They all suck equally all of the time.  There isn't even glimpses of something to build on.

The receivers are not getting separation.  The offensive line blows an assignment on more plays than not.  Shea Patterson does not have NFL-level accuracy.

The WRs ARE getting separation. Even the damn commentator was getting frustrated by Shea not seeing open guys

Yes, when were in the redzone and Shea holds the ball for 6 seconds then everyone is covered because that's what happens in the redzone when the QB doesn't find a guy quick enough

Bell deserved that catch. I've never seen the refs call it right on the field and then get it incorrectly overturned by the booth before.

It's one of the real oddities of this game and this program that in this era of basketball scores in football, where 30 year olds come out of nowhere to create 40 point a game offenses, where it's never been easier for offensive players in terms of how the games are called...Michigan continuously struggles to put a productive offense on the field.

It seems that our head coach himself struggles to understand it as his attempts to fix the offense appear to have the opposite effect. Shea Patterson was placed in a very good position to excel this season, but whatever he's trying to do, whatever they're trying to have him do..it's not working. Josh Gattis was hired to 'modernize' the offense, but his efforts again seem to have had no positive effect - perhaps even a negative one. Now is Harbaugh changing too much, not enough, who knows? The only thing we know is that it's not working.

This football program will never be better than it was in 2016 and 2018 (and often worse) until Harbaugh figures out what the answer is.

I have not seen anything to convince me that Dylan is better.

Maybe when he comes back from his concussion, the right thing to do is start him even if he's not an upgrade, to get experience for next year.  But if you're hoping to right the ship and win the Big10 this year, it's not a foregone conclusion that Shea isn't your best option, even if he's playing scared and is innacurate and fumbles too often.

I also think that any evaluation of the QBs needs to take into account how truly awful the OL has been.  Michigan QBs have taken more hard hits this year than some QBs take in an entire year, and that is not an exaggeration.  I have watched QBs go 5, 6 games in a row without taking a single really bone-jarring hit.

To be clear, I don't think Shea is a great QB, and in fact have never thought he was a great QB at any point since he started showing up on forums as a transfer possibility.  But that doesn't imply  that Michigan has anyone better.  They may, they may not, but there's no invisible universal force guaranteeing that Michigan has a great QB somewhere on their roster every year.

Once McCaffrey is better, I think we have to go with him....We have an NFL receiving corps that can't get a ball thrown in front of them, or even the QB to look at them half the time....I agree McCaffrey's not much better or maybe even a little behind Shea, but it's less than a full game for him and 20-30 games in for Shea....We should go with the guy who might be really good with some game time over the guy who's had chances and hasn't got it done.

Going back to the Spring game this offense has not looked good. Everyone talked about "speed in space" and how it was going to be great but if you watch the Shea Patterson interviews he never seemed that excited about it. In fact the last interview this Summer he actually praised last years offense and Pep.

I think there has been too much change and some of the players want consistency. Not sure if this is also affecting the OL but there is a clear lack of confidence and execution - on both side of the ball. The look on the faces of the WR after game.. Shea went directly to the locker room after the game not sure if it was the injuries or frustration.

It took them being down 35 points to realize arm punts were their best call.

And this was after they had netted less than 30 yards rushing. Still have not seen a single screen pass since Jeff left. Nothing is being done in space, much less quickly.

Gattis may grow into being a competent coordinator one day, but it's not going to happen this season.
