This will be your thread for snowflakes and hot takes regarding the offense in our game against Wisconsin.

I feel like I get this barely perceptible glimpse of "speed in space" for a play or two, but then that play is either called back or it stands and then we go back to being a slightly modified turtle, if you will.

Yeah, it isn't just that Shea was chucking it into trouble... but the fact that Dylan has shown no noticeable difference passing seems to indicate Gattis just doesn't have a well-designed plan.

I'll revise if Brian sees something different since he watches this stuff intently and often I base my opinion on his, but watching it live it just felt like JV play calls and wishful thinking.

You look at LSU and their new offense and you say to yourself, "why can't we execute like that"? Well we don't have Joey Burrow for one thing. Shea Patterson looked more comfortable in last years offense then he does in this one. He's shook no question. Stay with Dylan if he's healthy at least he looks like he gets this offense.

The OL needs to help out their QB whoever that is. The blocking has been poor at best and a lot of turnover can do that to you. Not having Runyon and Stueber has hurt more then I would have thought. I like Hayes better at pass pro then Mayfield, he gets lost on his protections too easy. And what the hell is going on with Ruiz? Did they change their pass pro concepts that much with the new O? I doubt it. Stay with Dylan, cut out the turnovers and penalties and you can get some things going with your play makers this offense could actually be lethal to someone other than themselves.

It’s odd because so many Michigan fans see what the offense should be, and it’s bizarre that we didn’t see it until the fourth quarter. I mean, nico is a walking mismatch, and black and dpj will end up getting at least an nfl look. The offense needs to be a passing spread that relies on those three guys to move the football.

Patterson is almost unplayable. He’s routinely missing receivers running open, and he is really struggling to find guys on the initial read, which makes a struggling offensive line look worse.

One big caveat: Those 50/50 balls would probably not have been so successful if both Wisconsin safeties weren't kicked out of the game.

I was thinking the same thing - we were so successful just hucking it up there - until I remembered Wisconsin was down 2 safeties. Some of those could have ended up interceptions.

Couldn't have been any worse than what we did the first 2 1/2 quarters, that's for sure.

Patterson is too small and his arm is too weak to make the most of the pro-style receiving core. The announcers were right. Harbaugh has no identity in year 5 because he can’t decide what he wants to be. Peters would have likely been hitting these guys more consistently... hate to say it. Patterson also isn’t producing a run threat so it’s just a Ferrari with a flat tire right now.

in that limited time, it seems obvious to me that the offense clicks better with dylan at QB because of his threat to run.  i think he also sees over the D much better than patterson.  that said, he has to be coached up better to protect himself.  already in his limited play, he has taken several big hits.

McCaffrey is a really good runner, but he hasn't yet shown an ability to pass accurately.

Also, either he has terrible luck, he's injury prone, or he's just really bad at ducking - maybe a combination of all three.

Seems every time he runs he gets destroyed. That second shot he took was brutal. Feel for him.

Here is a good example of how bad Shea is at finding the open receiver. It doesn't get much worse than this.

As fans its hard for us to always see what Shea is looking at but we know for sure there was also at least 1 other instance where Shea missed an easy TD pass which was when Nico was WIDE OPEN down the field but Shea still threw a bad pass to Ronnie Bell who dropped it. Supposedly Nico was pissed. So that's TWO touchdowns off the board that we could've had if Shea wasn't bad at finding open guys

I'm amazed how low Shea's ceiling appears to be. I kept waiting, waiting...waiting for him to 'settle in' or something. But I think it's painfully apparent now that Shea isn't that good and his ceiling is a scrambling QB who can be somewhat accurate under 15 yards. And that's his ceiling. He looks lost most of the time back there

I'm mildly intoxicated, so please forgive any minor deviations in stats, but we had 19 carries, excluding quarterbacks we had 13 rushes on offense, all told for 40 total yards at 2.1 yards per carry. Wisconsin predictably had more, and was running out the clock, but ran 55 times for 361 yards. Noteworthy their third string rusher equaled our total rushing, and their 4th leading rusher outgained our leading rusher. Our 3 QBs threw 42 times for 259 yards, their qb threw 16 times for 128. We outrecruited them in every way, every year, but they absolutely did more with those recruits than we did today.

All the hype on the offensive line is over.  They are shit.  They can’t man handle anyone.

I used to love Shea as a QB, but man, something has happened to him mentally.  He’s fried beyond belief.     I knew the defense would be bad, but the lack of production from the offense is stunning
