Yay! Good balls!
Yea but only a six or two
Ideally you would like to see bigger balls.
One ball always hangs lower than the other. It's the rule of balls.
Would like to see bluer balls.
My one qualm about the new confidence rating system is whether or not it affects the rate at which Wiltfong and the other more “in the know” insiders will be taking bigger risks since they can now retort with “look at our confidence level” if they’re wrong.
6 Confidence doesn’t make me jump for joy as a Wiltfong CB would prior to the new metric.
Obviously 6 is better than 5 but worse than 7.
That might depend on who is providing the number.
Where is he measuring from to get the 6? Maybe it's closer to 4 1/2. Just how big of a truck does he drive?
Always measure from the butthole, and around the balls. That's the universally accepted standard on the internet.
Unless we’re talking about golf balls, then 4 is better than 5, but worse than 3, and often a par
Confidence level is garbage! Gives every wrong crystal baller an opportunity to ride coat tails with no knowledge of that recruitment and bail when it isn't in their favor.
How is that any difference then the old method where everyone would just change their crystal ball hours before the kid announced his commitment?
Confidence isn't a perfect metric, but I think high and low ends of the spectrum are very helpful. A couple of ten confidence level balls means the guys is likely a silent commit. A two means its just an educated guess.
Great news! Sounds like Somerville is making his decision on June 20. That’s good for Michigan.
Edwards, Rooks, Somerville, Kendall, Worthy, Dixon and potentially throw in Spindler/Benny and it continues to be very frustrating why Jim is recruiting Michigan like he's in Ames, Iowa
Considering that Michigan has recruited the state of Michigan well in the past and its yielded mediocre results might be why.
Whoosh!
Rick Leach, John Wangler, Wheatley, Harris, Graham come to mind ....
Lamarr Woodley
I'll drink to this.
I like confident balls, especially big ones.
What is this confidence-level shit? They either crystal ball or not. Just a way for the predictors to avoid having to admit that they were wrong. Get out the participation trophies!
So, what were the confidence levels on Christopher?
Agree. It seems like this new “confidence rating” just gives them more margin for error. I’d rather go back to the old system where getting balls automatically endorsed a high confidence. This new system seems like it’s going to promote a lot of haphazard balls flying around. I fear future ball reassignment.
What’s wrong with balls flying around?
Hey if you want to fly some balls around, go for it. do it confidently, otherwise it’s just dangerous.
#ConfidentBalls
(Don't recommend searching this on Twitter...or do...whatever. No judgment.)
I LIKE BALLS!
And now Clint Brewster puts in a CB for George Rooks to Michigan, confidence level 7.
So for those who don't know:
Donovan Edwards 4* #3 RB #37 overall from West Bloomfield
Quentin Somerville 4* #14 SDE #152 overall from AZ
George Rooks 4* #14 DT #202 overall from New Jersey
But I thought all we signed were 3 starzzz that Maizen and his 37 aliases hated?
The more I read Maizen's comments (do not recommend) the more I think he's an 18 year old kid.
He comes up with these ideas about how things need to be done and how some players are just bad ideas and we should be avoiding them all together and blah blah blah. Every time he gets proven wrong he moves the goal posts on his argument. I remember when he used to write that Michigan needed to recruit at the level of Clemson to be relevant. Michigan has been recruiting at a similar level to Clemson since Harbaugh got here (until the last year and a half). So he changed his idea. He said that Clemson recruits way better than Michigan at the most important positions on the team (QB, D-Line, etc). I wonder what his new argument will be after JJ McCarthy signs his letter of intent and Clemson signs their 3 star QB and no one else.
He's the troll of all trolls on this site and has no idea what he's talking about. He can't back up any of his points with facts or data. I asked him why he thought Ronnie Bell is not an NFL talent a year ago on this site and all he could say was "I just don't see it". Nothing concrete about the way Ronnie plays or how fast he is compared to other NFL caliber players (spoiler alert: Ronnie isn't slow). He just goes by what he "thinks" and "feels". Probably the dumbest way to form opinions about anything.
Eh, I know plenty of 40+ year old dudes who say the same dumb shit in real life.
Maizen has the ramblings and obsessive behavior of a serial killer, so i actually commend him greatly for focusing on recruiting rankings rather than skinning the neighbors cats
It'll easily switch to complaining about every flaw these 4 stars have.
This is it right here. This is where he will move the goal posts. I bet he'll point out how Penn State is the only school of repute in Bennett's offer list, therefore he isn't as good as his ranking suggests.
But if he did that he'd be going back on what he said a few weeks ago. He claimed that offers don't matter and that some of our 3 star commits that received offers from big schools (some from Bama, OSU, other SEC schools) were misleading. He claimed straight up that they were not "commitable" offers with no insider info to back up his claims. In his mind we simply have to trust his word because he knows things nobody else does. Such pride this guy has in himself! If only I had that much self-confidence. lol
Is it possible those offers were not commitable? Absolutely. Does he know that with complete clarity? Absolutely not. Did he claim to? Yes.
You guys spend more time bitching about what Maizen might say, than Maizen does actually saying it. If you haven't noticed, he's not even posting right now.
Suddenly, closing with Edwards, Somerville, Rooks, Benny, Dixon, and at least one more big time OL (Spindler/Dellinger/Kendall) plus a couple more fliers or late cycle guys is looking pretty reasonable. The one spot of concern left barring some changes of heart may be CB, which doesn't have a ton of realistic high-end options. Still, it's shaping up to be a legit top 10 class. And if McCarthy hits... Michigan will have its highest ceiling in forever.
I agree about the secondary issues but, yeah, this class looks really good.
BBall has scarred me. I'll exhale when the faxes come in.
If we're now able to pick up Somerville and Rooks, a lot of my worry regarding Nua and the D-line recruiting will be put to bed. This is really looking like a great class all around. We might have to make some adaptations to fill out the secondary in a year or two, but our coaching there is very good so I'd be okay with that. Also BJM has hit the ground running and looks like he's a super solid recruiter to at least somewhat offset the loss of Partridge. Things are not doomed!
We had a lot of high quality DB bullets added to the roster from last years class. If we can get an elite guy or two next year I think we should be ok.
I don't get why this was negged, you're correct. We got two solid 4 star CB's in Seldon and Green Warren, and then perhaps a 3rd lower-ranked flier if Eamonn Dennis plays there. Also got 3 good looking safeties in Paige, Mohan, and Moten. Concern just being attrition... will a true soph CB be ready to replace Ambry, who was a whole lot of awesome last year. I cannot imagine Ambry stays for his senior year if he keeps playing like he has.
I have some good news and bad news...The good news is that Ambry is staying for his senior year, the bad news is that it is this year.
Good call! My timeline was wrong, but the point remains.
We do have quite a few promising young corners already on the roster too. Jalen Perry was a four star, but didn’t make much noise as he redshirted last season. DJ Turner made quite a bit of noise in fall camp and then hardly saw the field. Between those two, Seldon, Green-Warren and whoever we end up with in this class, we should have a viable replacement for Ambry and then Vincent Gray. Recruiting hasn’t been elite at that position, but we’ve recruited well enough that we should have some solid options as they develop.
He's a senior already? Damn. I remember when he was only this tall. *pinches Ambry's cheek*
It seems like recruiting is starting to click into place. I bet we get some unforeseen high level players at that last minute as well - this is a weird cycle.
Some balls predict players to powerhouse teams and others to the rest.
But when they predict players for Michigan, they’re the balls that I like best.
All the recruiting services say we've got the biggest balls of all
State’s got big balls, and Wisky’s got big balls,
but...
Some balls are held for quaterbacks, and some for free safeties, but when they’re held for tight ends they’re the balls I want to see.
State has tiny balls. Side effect of the steroids.
