Where will UM be in AP poll today?
Where will UM be in the AP poll this afternoon?
My guess? UM will move up one spot, to #8 in the AP poll. UM will pass PSU, but UM will not pass Alabama. The sports-writers of America think too much of the NFL-level talent on Alabama's team to drop them more than three or four spots.
UM deserves to be ranked above Alabama though. Bama lost to an unranked team. Michigan is undefeated.

Nor should they pass Alabama.
October 10th, 2021 at 1:45 AM ^
I doubt Alabama moves below 4. They just blew out a top 15 team, after beating a different top 15 team on the road. Let's not forget that they emasculated Miami when they were in the top 15. I won't be surprised to see a top four of UGA, Iowa, OU, Bama. I'll be pleasantly surprised if UC is ranked above Bama.
October 10th, 2021 at 2:44 AM ^
I don't care what some are saying now, I agree with you, that Alabama should be in the top 4 still.
October 10th, 2021 at 2:56 AM ^
Cincinnati came into this week ranked 5th. They’re undefeated with a win against a top-15 team. There’s no way they won’t be ranked 3rd. Undefeated Oklahoma will be behind them. OSU, whose loss to a top-10 team was weeks ago and has been playing very well as of late, will be behind them. Texas A&M lost the last two weeks to Arkansas and Mississippi State. This was the definition of a “bad loss.” There’s no way Alabama will be any higher than 6th.
October 10th, 2021 at 8:14 AM ^
Alabama's scary good, I'm not going to deny that. But you giving them credit for beating Miami when they were ranked (which they should have never been ranked that high to begin win) is like giving Iowa credit for beating up on Indiana. Let's not go nuts. Alabama gets standing ovations just for entering the room. Don't drool over them for pounding a team who is a play away from being winless.
October 10th, 2021 at 2:11 AM ^
Either 6 or 7. They will pass Oregon and probably will pass Alabama and PSU.
October 10th, 2021 at 2:25 AM ^
1 Georgia
2 Iowa
3 OU
4 UC
5 BAMA
6 osu
7 PSU
8 Oregon
9 Michigan
10 MSU
October 10th, 2021 at 6:41 AM ^
I think this one is right, and honestly, accurate. Maybe shade the Michigan teams in front of Oregon but that’s about it.
October 10th, 2021 at 7:42 AM ^
PSU and Oregon over Michigan? Why? Especially Oregon. They lost two. If a victory over OSU is that important, TAM should be ranked 3.
October 10th, 2021 at 9:15 AM ^
Oregon only has 1 loss on the season and frankly should be hire than OSU since they beat them head to head.
October 10th, 2021 at 2:32 AM ^
I'm not sure Alabama should fall below Mi and Mi St. really, I don't think they should fall out of the top 4.
1. Georgia
2. Iowa**
3. Cincinnati
4. Alabama
5. Oklahoma
6. Kentucky
7. Ohio St
8. Penn St
9. Michigan
10. Oregon
11. Okla St
12. Mich St
To me Kentucky is the wild card. I don't know how good they are. They're AT Georgia next week. The top game next week. They could shock Georgia, or not, I don't know.
** they don't belong that high, but that's where they'll be
October 10th, 2021 at 3:27 AM ^
I don’t think it’s realistic to think Kentucky jumps up 10 slots by beating a hapless LSU team. Also, they barely squeaked by a meh Florida team at home - I expect they’ll get destroyed by Georgia.
October 10th, 2021 at 2:36 AM ^
Our Monday AP poll rank is irrelevant to me, I am far more concerned with the UFR score Haskins gets for the hurdle run - to me, a +4 should be on the table for that play.
October 10th, 2021 at 3:03 AM ^
My prediction (not what I think it should be, but what I think it will be):
1. Georgia.
2. Iowa
3. Cincinnati
4. Oklahoma
5. Alabama
6. Penn State
7. Ohio State
8. Oregon
9. Michigan
10. Michigan State
October 10th, 2021 at 3:12 AM ^
If Alabama is not now out of the playoff hunt entirely unless and until they beat Georgia in the SEC title game, they should just expand the playoff this season. Alabama no matter what plus 3 other teams is not a good playoff system.
October 10th, 2021 at 3:20 AM ^
Don’t care. No offense btw. Keep winning until OSU and everything will sort itself out. Watching tonight it’s obvious we aren’t Bama ready.
October 10th, 2021 at 3:23 AM ^
1 Georgia
2 Iowa
3 Cinci
4 Oklahoma
5 Alabama
6 Ohio State
7 Michigan
8 Michigan State
9 Penn State
10 Kentucky
October 10th, 2021 at 7:27 AM ^
I think this is the answer. UC should be higher than Iowa though.
October 10th, 2021 at 7:44 AM ^
PSU will beat ND four out of five times if both starting QBs are playing. UC has one decent win I can think of.
October 10th, 2021 at 5:26 AM ^
We hold serve.
October 10th, 2021 at 6:17 AM ^
Rankings don’t matter right now. They just look cool next to your team name when playing. I love this teams attitude. On to the next one. I am going to predict they win the bye week.
October 10th, 2021 at 6:54 AM ^
As much as they shouldn't look at the rankings this way, comparing the top 8 teams and who would beat who, Bama is not falling to no. 5. Michigan is probably not moving at all and Cinci will still be on the outside of the top 4. My guess is:
1. Georgia. 2. Iowa. 3. Bama. 4. Oklahoma. 5. Osu. 6. Cincinnati. 7. PSU. 8. UM. 9. Oregon. 10. Sparty.
Maybe Michigan gets ahead of PSU, but losing at Iowa by 3 won't push PSU down too much. Bama is still the second best team in the country despite the loss and OSU is starting to flex their muscles, even though it's against crappy teams.
October 10th, 2021 at 7:11 AM ^
Michigan won't be ranked ahead of Bama if that's what you're hoping for
October 10th, 2021 at 8:17 AM ^
When was the last time Michigan was ranked ahead of Alabama in football? 2007?
I have to imagine that even in 2016 when Michigan got to as high as #2, Alabama was still #1.
October 10th, 2021 at 11:31 AM ^
Your question is interesting, my quick check says yes, it was the final 2007 rankings -- M #18, Ala unranked -- Saban's first year and Carr's last (and one of the craziest seasons ever, nationally)
You mentioned 2016. There was also October 2015 when Alabama dropped to as low as #13 early in the month after losing to a Hugh Freeze Ole Miss team, then Michigan ascended to #12 after blowing out previously undefeated Northwestern -- but by then Alabama had gotten back to #10.
October 10th, 2021 at 7:45 AM ^
PSU will probably drop to 9 or 10. Alabama will fall to no lower than #5.
Michigan will move up one spot to #8. MSU to #9 or #10.
Anybody who thinks Michigan will jump Alabama is not thinking clearly.
October 10th, 2021 at 7:53 AM ^
UGA
Iowa (am I really typing this)
Cincinnati (ditto)
Oklahoma
Bama
OSU
Oregon
Mich
PSU
MSU
October 10th, 2021 at 8:14 AM ^
My guess:
1) Georgia
2) Iowa (!!!)
3) Cincinnati - you don’t have a choice at this point. For now, they have to be in the top four.
4) Oklahoma
5) OSU
6) Alabama
7) Oregon
8) Michigan - probably should jump Oregon but that OOC win on the road over OSU keeps them ahead for now.
October 10th, 2021 at 9:52 AM ^
I really don’t see how you can have Penn State drop that far. They lose a 3 point game on the road to the #3 team and they drop below Michigan and Alabama goes out and loses to an unranked 3-2 team and they drop to 6?
October 10th, 2021 at 8:17 AM ^
I don't know, but it is setting up to be a HUGE matchup in EL in 3 weeks.
October 10th, 2021 at 9:01 AM ^
Rough Guess: 1-Georgia, 2-Iowa, 3-Oklahoma, 4-Cincinnati, 5-Ohio State, 6-Penn State, 7-Alabama, 8-Michigan, 9-Michigan State, 10-Kentucky, 11-Oregon, 12-Oklahoma State, 13-Ole Miss, 14-Notre Dame, 15-Coastal Carolina, 16-Arkansas, 17-Wake Forest, 18-Auburn, 19-Florida, 20-BYU, 21-Arizona State, 22-Texas A & M, 23-Texas, 24-SMU, 25-San Diego State
Possible that voters will have Michigan and Michigan State separated by a narrow margin, but those who hate Michigan could give the Spartans a very slight edge because of their quarterback, running back and receivers.
October 10th, 2021 at 9:51 AM ^
Ouch, you have Oregon dropping that far after a bye?
October 10th, 2021 at 9:05 AM ^
Michigan should stay about where they are, almost lost to a .500 team.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:30 AM ^
I dont entirely disagree with you but the ".500 team" is a little obtuse.
You gotta account for nuance.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:34 AM ^
So did Oklahoma and Michigan St but I don’t see you including them in your negative shot towards Michigan
October 10th, 2021 at 11:39 AM ^
Yeah they should have lost like Alabama did, since A&M is now 4-2 it's a good loss, instead of 'almost losing' to a .500 A&M team that would be 3-3
October 10th, 2021 at 9:47 AM ^
All unimportant as Michigan controls its destiny. Go Blue!
October 10th, 2021 at 9:51 AM ^
I really doubt PSU loses a 3 point game on the road to a team ranked higher than them while their QB goes out with injury and drops below Michigan… not impossible I guess, but that seems pretty extreme by the voters.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:01 AM ^
One more spot to #8 in the AP poll. 'Bama remains in the Top 5 at 5.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:26 AM ^
This has always baffled me, but why would PSU drop in rankings?
They were number 4, they lost to number 3, BARELY, after their QB broke.
That's basically exactly what should have happened. They HAVE to play these games against each other, there WILL BE a winner and a loser.
I dont feel like a team should really drop in that situation unless you want to include the long term implications of losing your starting QB.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:56 AM ^
Pump the brakes. The only two teams we’ve beaten with an over-.500 record are Western and NIU. We’ve struggled with Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Rutgers. I’m not sure where we should be ranked, but I’m not convinced we’re even a top-15 team.
October 10th, 2021 at 11:13 AM ^
Shhhh. You will be banned or called a troll for that reality.
October 10th, 2021 at 11:13 AM ^
And many of those “sub .500” teams will be well above that mark by end of season. Nebraska was better than Wisconsin IMO, and probably better or least as good as state.
October 10th, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
My prediction (not how I would vote): I don't think 'Bama falls below 3 and we stay where we are. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised, however.
