The scariest people in the world are idiots who think they're the ones who've got it figured out. We're on schedule to have 400,000 Americans dead by October (and that's with a months-long lockdown; otherwise, we'd be nearing a million). If you're okay with that, you must be a terrific guy.

When people head back inside this fall, and when flu season comes, a concurrent second big wave of covid -- which is almost guaranteed, by the way -- would easily overwhelm hospitals, causing even more deaths bc people with all sorts of ailments wouldn't get treatment. This will prompt further lockdowns and more economic chaos. How do we know this? Because math. Because science. Because people a lot smarter than you aren't blind to what is clearly happening. This country has the worst covid rates in the developed world. Barring a vaccine that comes soon, which is unlikely, it will get worse before it gets better. Just because it hasn't hit you is not a reason to pretend it's no big deal. Wake up.

I honestly just want someone to tell me what the target is.  Do any of us know what needs to be achieved for us to be back to normal?  Is this the new normal?  If it is, I’m punching out along with most of the population.  I’ve followed all the “rules” just to find out there is more to do.  I feel like a damn puppet at this point.  In March and April, I took this very seriously and was one of the hardcore out there but now....I really am questioning everything.  Someone please shed some light on this.

Go here and look at the data for New York.  801 cases for the entire state today.  Look at Florida...3600+ cases today.  Get test positivity below 2% and you can feel confident you are not constantly running a COVID gauntlet, but you still need to wear a mask and stay away from people.

Here’s some interesting reading material, too.

Okay, moron. The answer is: NY had taken it seriously thanks to a governor who had the states best interest at heart ; while fla hasn't, thanks to a governor whose only concern is sucking up to Trump.  I had to go to NYC in June to visit my sick mother (not Covid) and was scared shitless, until I got there and saw that virtually EVERYONE was wearing a mask and social distancing, not partying on the beach.  Restaurants were immaculate. And no Trumpers with guns going nuts over the mask requirements.  Does that answer your question, numbnuts?

Blueblood, If you do nothing you end up like NY and Italy. Masks, distancing, no gatherings, etc, as long as most adhere, are keeping retransmission just under 1 where I am in California.  Most retail businesses are opening with limited capacity. Other businesses are figuring out how to adapt safely with state guidance. You wont be able to go to a crowded bar or theatre for some time.  This will last until about next summer. Vaccine science is real and faster than ever but can’t be rushed.

Becoming stir crazy and/or complacent after 2 months is expected. Many people will act irrationally (anger, frustration, up tics in conspiracies are common) in these situations, but thankfully most will stay rational. You need to help maintain calm in your community and do what’s necessary to keep retransmission low for the year.

Great leadership at a national level would help people cope, stay the course, and maintain calm but unfortunately the US leader falls into the irrational side of things.  Imagine if Churchill or Eisenhower acted that way during WWII.   Ugh.

Do you know anyone who’s been hospitalized or has died from COVID? I feel your option might be different. New info came out from a group the WH has said is reputable, and they said they believe 6 million will have died by the end of 2020 and that’s not worst case.

Its been said a bunch on here but people didn’t take it serious enough so it’s still around and mostly likely going to get worse in the upcoming months.

When it comes to football, it seems pretty clear what the target is...if that's not good enough for you, that's on you for just disagreeing, but don't act or imply like the end goal is a vaccine or for this thing to completely go away.

We know it's not the flu, and for people like you to keep saying that...is just going to make someone on the other side dig in further.

I never understood that position either. I'm going to fight everyone on this and make this an us vs. them thing.

If all of these people would've shut up, wore a mask and waited until rapid testing was available and we knew more about this...we'd be fine.

Stop comparing this to something that has been around forever, something we know exactly how to treat.

Once we got to the point where COVID was like the flu...you likely wouldn't have to worry about it again because we'd know exactly how dangerous it is, how to treat it, etc.

Wear a mask...make it a MAGA mask, just wear one.

Do you have any idea of the long term damage this virus causes to those it doesn't kill? Obviously not.

By the way, your survival numbers are a flat out MAGA lie, but even if they were true, .4% of the US population is still over 13 million people you dumbass.
