Honestly....the multi-team collusion against M, the bullshit cheeseburger suspensions, and this....not to mention various other bullshit.....the weakest and most tepid, spineless reaction last year after the tunnel assault.... other stuff going back....decades?

Does it really make sense to stay in the B0G?

If we start the process of moving to the ACC...I know the immediate $$ doesn't look as rosy, but add ND full on, Stanford....I guess Cal if you have to, but the TV rights for those first seasons would be astronomically valuable. We would easily get a larger payout share at/close to what we get in our equal share arrangement from the The Big Zero where we carry so many deadweight teams that, let's face it....are freeloaders and seasonal fodder and never going to amount to anything but an anchor in terms of revenue. Remind me again why we share equally?

Fuck them.

Hockey would be welcome with open arms anywhere.

I'll bet you can get Fox Sports to cover the revenue difference for the initial few seasons while they sue for a reduction in their B1G $$ because of our departure. They can pay us with what they get back in court.

Michigan/OSU have always been the brand and the draw, slightly different with the 4 west coast schools now, but M leaving still hugely diminishes the conference overall.

I really just want to cry… my favorite sports team, the University (where my sister, brother in law his two brothers their dad, my grandfather who had season tickets for 30 years before I took them over then didn’t renew them during the Hoke years) I love. I would never have thought would be in this predicament, on the verge of the greatest season since 97 would be treated so unfair due to media.

I hope this just pisses off Harbaugh I hope he signs a new contract and comes back with vengeance. I hope that Michigan wins the Big Ten title game and this asshat has to hand Jim the trophy..

Enough with this ACC/Independent talk.

The top ACC teams are trying to leave, and the top independent team is already half in a conference.

It's SEC or stay.

You want to threaten the BigTen, you threaten to join the only conference that can usurp them, not downgrade conferences.

The top ACC teams want to leave because of the money difference. If we can help with that, and maybe bring some of the 4 PAC school with us, we'll be view as saviors, at least by the lower schools.

If we go to SEC will be nice for a while, and after that will be like staying in B1G. I'll say only go to SEC if they promise not to accept OSU for 25 years, because you know they'll want to come soon too.

Wow. Everything is going against my internal predictions. All of it.

I didn't think Ono would publicly support Harbaugh... boy was I wrong there. Happily.

Didn't think there was any chance Petitti would actually try to suspend Harbaugh... he did.

Didn't think we'd seriously consider, or even discuss leaving the B1G... they are.

So I have no fucking idea what's going on, or likely to happen from here. This is just wild.

Over what??

I have been a Michigan fan for 20+ years. In that time, I also earned a degree from another Big Ten university, which is one of the little 12. I am a dear fan of that university.

If my other Alma Mater is backing a scheme to screw over a Big Ten brethren, I am ashamed. Absolutely ashamed. In that case, they deserve the revenue loss of the premiere conference program saying goodbye.

It’s Petitti’s transparent attempt to control the narrative. He’s a clown. He’s a nobody. He doesn’t have the gravitas to handle this. There’s not room in this conference for him and us. Once the rest of the schools understand that we’re serious about leaving and taking their paycheck with us, Petitti will be sent packing.

The threat has to have teeth. This is unprecedented and absurd by a feckless commissioner with, what, TV executive experience?

The nuclear option must absolutely be on the table.

Might as well leave the entire NCAA.  Find some financial backing to start a new league (how about the American Football League?) that leverages the university's brands and professionalizes the players. Hire a well respected commissioner (David Silver anyone?), negotiate a new TV contact, and challenge the champion of the teams that remain in the NCAA to play the champion of the new league.  Nah - that's too far-fetched… Nothing like that could ever happen.

And maybe there's a way to avoid breaking whatever existing agreements there are with the Big Ten the NCAA and the existing TV networks - is there anything that prevents Michigan from fielding two football teams? one would be a shell of the existing team that remains in the NCAA and is in effect the Washington generals, and the other one is the real team with the players we've been rooting for.

The Regents may have discussed it and it may have been cathartic to do so.  But I hope if it got serious, they would have been informed how much is involved in unwinding our many connections to our Big Ten peers (via the conference and academic alliance).  As mad as I am at the Big Ten, this would be a loss for us.  We like to think only the conference would suffer but UM would also be the worse for it. I don’t see us easily replacing the things we get through the alliance.
