Wait, you mean to tell me ESPN might have done some shoddy reporting?  I'm shocked.

I always assumed Brady was going to play one more year; he's talked about wanting to play to 45 and that's next season.  The Bucs don't have a ton of upside in terms of cap (they've got around $19M), but that's enough to pick up a couple of pieces and maybe you get some veterans who are willing to take a bit less to play for a title.  I mean, if Rodgers is done in GB and the Rams seem to be all-in for this season and will look much different next year, there's a path for the Bucs to compete for a title next year if Brady still feels he can go.  I don't know how he feels about those options but it's not like the Bucs lack talent.

It is crazy how they're sticking to that story despite, again, the Bucs HC AND Brady's dad and agent all saying "no decision yet".  Like, it may well be that Brady is going to retire but when important people in the story are saying "not yet" it's weird to just ignore it. I know there have been others saying it's about timing and he's going to but hasn't formally announced it, but Brady seems like a guy who has a close-knit circle of people and can let the media know what he wants them to know; for this to leak out this early seems weird.

Unless this is just because ESPN doesn't want to admit that Schefter or whomever just jumped the gun and they didn't do enough follow-up to confirm.
