Some interesting takes on The Game on Big Today

Some interesting takes in this Big Today segment -- including Howard calling out Bucky for being "soft" (forward to 18:40). But the most noteworthy item for this blog: Nicole Auerbach clearly listens to the MGoPodcast (forward to 19:37). It is, after all, a very professional podcast.

The best format, IMO, would be one in which threads with the most active conversations stay at the top and those that nobody gives two shits about (pick any of the 1,500 "my random toughts on things" threads posted since Saturday) drop to the bottom.  That way actual content (and make no mistake - there is a LOT of very interesting things to discuss in the world of college football right now) would stay visable while the shitposts fade away.

I guess that's why the absolute flood of posts is so frustrating to me.  There are events happening right now that I'd love to talk about with you guys and they disapear as quickly as I see them because there being displaced with random thoughts on things posts.

OK rant over. Somebody go make a new post.  It's been minutes since we had one.

IMO, the downside of Reddit-style curation, where upvoted posts get prioritized to the top of the pile, is that it becomes a dick measuring contest among the most active board members to get fake internet points.

That in turn tends to lead to divisiveness and tribalism, because inevitably the well-known posters will get challenged by people with different opinions, and people will rally into their camps to upvote the posts they agree with.

That still happens to a lesser extent with MGoPoints, but to a lesser extent than other social media/message board sites.  Not saying it's perfect, but there are advantages to it being setup to be less "game-ified".

I can't stop them guys, I've tried but I've failed you.  I've tried mocking, needling, admonishing but nothing works.  There's too many of them and they all want to create a thread!

Howard was right.  Anyone who saw the Oregon game could see it.  Oregon came in and popped them in the mouth and they never really recovered.

Al Borges was great last week in breaking down the defense on Sam Webb's show.  He said they just simplified their defense.  They improved, but it was predictable.  He called for the Michigan offense to have a good day.

I'd be interested to see if Day or his assistants on D can make the adjustments in a year to toughen them up.

Not sure if the emotional come-down is affecting the board; otherwise, I don't get some of the negativity today.  I thought the convo was interesting, and it's a service to point it out to those who didn't see it.

Life is too short, and we're all better joining together---call it Kumbaya if you want, but it's more beautiful to jhold hands, acknowledge our brothers and sisters and unite in our common humanity and cause---hating all things Ohio State.

I listened to MGoBlog's most recent, very professional, podcast, and I don't remember them listing all the offensive linemen like she said they did. I guess I just completely missed it somehow?
