The Simpsons took a jab at Michigan & Jim Harbaugh earlier…

With a building named “Jim Harbaugh Center For Competitive Imbalance” 😭

I've never watched an episode, but this seems like a positive thing - that JH and the team are an important and interesting part of the culture.

Does anyone want to pretend there's competitive balance in college sports? I can think of a thousand (and two) reasons we shouldn't.

About two million people watch an average new episode of The Simpson this season. The last two Michigan games (on the same network) averaged more than 14 million viewers.

"Competitive Imbalance" might refer to allegations of cheating. That would make sense, considering all the huffing and puffing about it this fall.

However, don't the last three years in the Big Ten indicate a competitive imbalance based on talent, effort, and savvy?

So weird how UM has that image. They are probably the most on the up and up for big time programs. They don’t have a payroll. They don’t poach (as badly). They recruit character and don’t pay for play. But there’s been a PR campaign against UM this year that has successfully convinced everyone UM is the cheatenest school around. We all know that’s really Bama and SEC and OSU but somehow UM has that image. Amazing. I couldn’t care less because the ncaa has basically let whatever go and we are letting schools buy kids but yo…..wtf.

we all know that’s the “winner” move now to just claim cheating and rile everyone up. Worked for trump

It's been funny watching Michigan people cope with having to defend a coach targeted by the general media and the enforcement institutions of the various leagues. Even more funny when they try to liken the mainstream media and those enforcement institutions to Trump instead of noticing that Harbaugh is the Trump of football.

I'm a Simpsons junkie. I've watched every episode, the last few years out of habit, competed in trivia, etc.

The issue that they're running into is that they're trying to be too current. Many of the newer episodes are just a Simpsons take on a recent news story or issue that's happening in the world.

Yes after 30 plus years you run out of original material and news is always there to be made fun of. But I'd be nice if they didn't try to be so "with it."

I'll still be watching though.

I've only watched two new episodes in the past 15-20 years - the one with Quilloughby, and the recent one with Belle and Sebastian. Other than Quilloughby being a pretty great name, both episodes were pretty bad compared to the early days.

Sometimes you just gotta laugh at it and roll with the punches.

I doubt Groening feels any certain way about SignGate one way or the other, but he knows plenty of his viewers do and would get a kick out of the joke.

I don’t follow The Simpsons like I used to, but those first 10-12 seasons? At least every other episode felt like a classic.
