Sorry, I disagree, Sam Web is great!  Even if he somehow got this one wrong.

I know, not a huge surprise, but still - it's the week that just keeps on giving!

Egbuka's ceiling might be…

Egbuka's ceiling might be higher than you think - he just had surgery for a high ankle sprain he suffered in the Maryland game. So he was significantly < 100% vs. M this year.

Except that Michigan already…

Except that Michigan already excels at retention, culture, and player development.  Hopefully we can keep enough of the current coaching staff to ensure that continues.

The Massey list is…

The Massey list is absolutely glorious.

click through to have a look but here is a preview:

I would prefer to support MGoSponsors, players and other friendlies when buying my merch...

So I will definitely be buying something from Underground Printing  (thanks for reminding me, @JeepinBen).

If people can suggest a good place to buy a jersey, I would really appreciate that.  I am looking for NCG JJ, similar to official.  It will be my first.  I've always wanted one and now is definitely the time.

p.s. TurnoverBuffs Glasses, anyone?  https://www.will2johnson.com/

ALSO:  what do people think about a sticky thread with NIL stuff-you-can-buy links?  I'd sure like to have one!

"Don't get bitter, get…

"Don't get bitter, get better."

A JH quote to live by.

There are so many different…

There are so many different reasons to be thrilled about winning the championship this year, but *this* reason is one of the most fulfilling for me.  Watching Jim's multi-year strategy unfurl, seeing coaches and players doing things the right way (ok, with some small and middling exceptions), the focus on doing right by the players, achieving unity behind an ambitious (even audacious) goal - that's how I want Michigan to win. Through excellence in player development, player leadership, positional coaching, O/D coordination, game planning, in-game coaching... What a gift Jim Harbaugh has given to those players - the gift of reaching the pinnacle of success reached by the program, the coaches, and the individual players earning it at every level.

Those who stayed ARE…

Champions of the South, the North, the East, and the West!

Hail to the Victors!

Team 144 is going to play the game of their lives.

Oooooooh I want to see that…

Oooooooh I want to see that so badly.

To clarify: The “grinding this middling defense inro a fine powder at 6 yards per carry” not the priapism part.

I want to see this team send off Corum with 150 yards + rushing.

I've now heard two different analysts say exactly what you've laid out - he likely believed if he could field that punt at speed, he probably scores.  And for me personally I like the aggression. Next time he'll catch it.

In the presser after the game JH said they are heading back to A2.

(In response to a stupid question from the Wall Street Journal asking if he’s going to the NFL. Yes, seriously that’s what they asked.)

This was a day for the ages…

This was a day for the ages. Complete Vindication and undeniable proof that team 144 is elite, special, and the best Michigan team in a generation. They stand on the shoulders of those players you’ve named plus countless others including Tim Biakabutuka, Jamie Morris, Tyrone Wheatley, Amani Toomer, Chase Winovich, Mo Hurst, Kwity Paye, (My man!) Taco Charlton, Chris Wormley, Devin Bush, Jumbo Elliot, the Glasgow brothers, Charles Woodson, Jourdan Lewis, Lavert Hill & David Long, Ambry Thomas, …

It’s going to be very interesting watching them walk the balance beam explaining how there was a) “no unauthorized access”  yet  b) information or data has been released in an unauthorized or potentially illegal way and also c) the user base of football programs can be confident it’s safe to continue using the system.

That's radically different…

That's radically different from what they were saying 2 days ago, according to ABC News:

Catapult ... said on Friday that the NCAA is conducting an investigation into an allegation that an unnamed college football program gained unauthorized access to its materials.

Ohio was missing their All…

Ohio was missing their All-American WR and extremely good starting QB.  And QB2 hurt in 2nd Q.  Only surprise there was QB3 couldn’t make anything happen.

PSU apparently was down both of their starting CB’s so not surprising their defense couldn’t hold up.

Also Maryland is absolutely blasting Auburn.

So I don’t see any B1G problem.

My take: Sam does it because he’s smart, he’s good at his job, and he’s a good guy.  It’s funny, it’s interesting, it builds some buzz for his friend Al, while at the same time being able to bust his balls a little.

Ex-Navy here.  I’m with you on the Army Uni’s.  No mistaking what team that is out there.  An homage to desert khaki and stencil font as well as the 3rd Infantry.

This is good stuff!   I’d also be interested to see a trended version of this just for M, over the past several years.  And a version of it that takes into account the players actually on the field, as others have suggested.

c’mon man, we’ve already been through this with JH.

Do you REALLY think Coach Juwan cannot figure this out?  Especially with Martelli helping.

I know they like their football down in the south, but it’s almost like maybe It just means more up here in the East and Midwest.

Coach Hart hasn’t been an OC yet; can he realistically skip that for a head coaching job?

if yes, good on him.

if no, hopefully M can get him that experience over the next few years.

this is one of my favorite…

this is one of my favorite posts on this blog, ever!  lots of learning opportunities to dig out of it.  So proud of this team!   I love seeing the "receipts" showing the success earned against a worthy opponent.  This post shows the result of the outstaning preparation undertaken, including strength & conditioning, player development through early playing time, scheme/game planning over the course of an entire season, and an incredible defensive plan for this game. It also gives those of us with limited football IQ the ability to truly appreciate the incredible individual performances across the board. Hat Tip +23/-5 net +18 ?!?!?

Based on this analysis I'm starting to think maybe I underestimated this OSU offense. They are very good, but the M defense was better.

that was delicious!  I think…

that was delicious!  I think I might need a rabies shot after watching, though.

a 5-star recruit has a 39% chance of "sticking" in the league (first result from google).

just shows how delusional they are.

What am I looking forward to…

What am I looking forward to seeing?

  • As a west coast guy, I am very interested to see Washington vs. Oregon.  I think that is going to be a barn burner. Ultimately I think Oregon wins since they got beat at UW earlier this year. hard to beat a great team twice, especially on a neutral field.
  • hate watch Georgia vs. Alabama.  hoping for Georgia to eek one out, thus showing they are vulnerable, but keeping Alabama out of the playoffs.
  • I will keep an eye on FSU vs. Louisville and Texas vs. (not that) OSU, mostly so I can watch and laugh if either of them get beat.
  • SMU vs.Tulane for me at least is good guys vs. bad guys.  Go Green Wave!  I want to see them get to 12-1.
  • Iowa vs. Michigan of course I will watch every second of that regardless of the score.* I am hoping to see a dominant running attack with our realigned OL.

*I have made it a point to watch all of every game this year, hoping to be able to look back on that fondly if we win out.

Saturday's game was…

Saturday's game was frighteningly close.

I disagree. I think M left quite a few points on the board, some due to good execution by the Ohio defense, some due to JJ not being 100% (why else have Orji come in to run?), but some also due to Moore chosing conservative options when circumstances allowed. Coach Moore showed a willingness to be aggressive at other key points in the game, so I've come to believe he's both strategic and disciplined.  i.e. his level of aggressiveness is determined by good judgment.  I believe (ok this is feelingsball), if he had thought he would need 7 more points to win this game he would have put the team in position to go get it.
