He made some legit good throws and the WRs had a nice effort.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:01 AM ^
Hey, he threw to Sainristil (finally), and to Collins and DPJ in the end zone. I'm hoping he throws to those 3 A LOT from now on.
October 27th, 2019 at 12:01 PM ^
Sainristil was in the game because Bell got hurt and didn't return. Nonetheless, he earned some more playing time with that effort!
October 28th, 2019 at 12:57 PM ^
So, the forward pass had it's coming out party back in 1913 when Gus Dorais threw 14-17 and Knute Rockne and ND upset a nearly professional Army team , 35-13.
(Army recruited players after they had played 3-4 years at other schools to "train them" for the military)....
106 years later Shea used less passes upset Rockne's beloved team...
Dorais and Rockne worked out their revolutionary plan on the beach at Cedar Point (they were lifeguards that summer)--maybe Jimmy should take the team there to train....
October 27th, 2019 at 10:45 AM ^
Please, go on.
October 27th, 2019 at 10:45 AM ^
Cool thread bro
October 27th, 2019 at 10:46 AM ^
....?
October 27th, 2019 at 10:46 AM ^
This is so random.
October 27th, 2019 at 10:46 AM ^
How much eligibility do the fans who threw the towels at the receiver's helmet & the camera have?
October 27th, 2019 at 10:47 AM ^
We are going to miss Shea Patterson next year. The game slowed down for him at Penn St finally.
October 27th, 2019 at 10:48 AM ^
I highly doubt it
October 27th, 2019 at 10:48 AM ^
DMac looked great and he managed not to run head first into anyone.
October 27th, 2019 at 10:48 AM ^
Second half of PSU may we’ll have been a turning point for this season.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:55 AM ^
*for the program under Harbs
October 27th, 2019 at 12:02 PM ^
Hopefully the 2nd half at Penn St was our Zack Novak moment for the football program even though we didn't win the game.
October 27th, 2019 at 12:27 PM ^
This. So much this.
If we leverage that into finishing this season at 10-2 with a win over the Death Star that is OSU that completely changes the narrative around this program.
October 27th, 2019 at 12:48 PM ^
Second half psu turning point? They lost that game then beat notre dame, slow down bud. I’ll back that statement if they beat MSU and osu
October 27th, 2019 at 11:01 AM ^
You seem to forget multiple panics in the pocket, the backwards throw, and several balls thrown to ND defenders. He was better but not great. Good is even a stretch. He was adequate.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:05 AM ^
Adequate against a good team (ND is good) in shit weather at night is nothing to sneeze at.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:13 AM ^
The only reason anyone would say he was adequate is because we won. If we had to rely on him in any real capacity yesterday that would have been a different game.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:51 AM ^
So if we didn't run it down their throat, lost, AND Shea played exactly the same game it wouldn't have been good enough?
OK. That's a pretty fanciful world that you've created.
October 27th, 2019 at 3:03 PM ^
What role exactly does Shea play in our oline mauling the shit out of ND all night? Never in my hypohetical did I say we would have lost, I said it would be a different game. The bottom line is, Shea makes a few plays a game, those are plays that pretty much any B1G starting qb could make.
Shea defenders, please tell me is there any way you could say he is a top 5 qb in the conference? He is playing behind one of the best olines and the flat out best wr group in the conference and is performing at a bottom half level. The offensive struggles all year were a direct result of his turnovers and bad decisions.
Take out Northwestern, Rutger, Maryland, and Purdue only because Sindelar is hurt, Sindelar is better than Patterson..and probably MSU though Lewerke was way better when he had a decent oline and receivers... Shea would not start for any other team in the conference. I don't know even know what the hell his defenders are watching, it couldn't be UM football games.
October 27th, 2019 at 12:06 PM ^
we did rely on him, to ‘avoid mistakes and to run enough to open it inside for the running backs. a bad qb performance and it’s a different game.
”adequate” was all we needed.
he done fine.
October 27th, 2019 at 2:29 PM ^
He definitely had some questionable decisions and bad plays. But he didn't lose a fumble or throw a pick. He even made a few good decisions! But absolutely agree with your take.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:02 AM ^
Except that one play where he lost his mind and threw a backwards lateral left handed out of bounds.
October 27th, 2019 at 12:01 PM ^
Doubtful. Good guy ... but pretty average to me and is struggling this year with RPO's and just staying in the pocket with lots of back foot throws.
October 27th, 2019 at 10:52 AM ^
At least he wasnt 8-25 for 73 yards like Book was
October 27th, 2019 at 10:52 AM ^
This is like a random thought your drunk grandpa would scream out during the game before resuming his nap...
"THE SWEDES WERE NAZIS DURING WWII!!!!!.... **SNORE**...."
October 27th, 2019 at 11:59 AM ^
Well, it's true!
Or at least it was yesterday while I was drunk
October 27th, 2019 at 10:53 AM ^
Wow, great statistical analysis.
Any commentary on his backwards pass or missed reads in the run game?
October 27th, 2019 at 10:55 AM ^
Even after a win the unnecessarily stupid Sunday threads follow.
October 27th, 2019 at 10:59 AM ^
Ian threw 25 times and completed 32%
I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:11 AM ^
That phrase is about bears. The Wolverine would just kill everyone it could catch. Then go back and eat.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:02 AM ^
If only there was a thread to be able to talk about an offensive performance. Thanks for being so innovative
October 27th, 2019 at 11:03 AM ^
In these weather conditions. 50% is pretty good. Book was 8-25.
October 27th, 2019 at 12:54 PM ^
And there was at least 2 or 3 legit drops by the receivers.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:04 AM ^
As a team Michigan completed 8 passes and 3 were TDs.
Had you told me that before the season I would have guessed that equated to 275 yds and scores by Nico (2) and Black or DPJ.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:10 AM ^
Speaking of Tarik, was he dressed to play yesterday? I didn't see him out there at all (which doesn't necessarily mean he wasn't).
October 27th, 2019 at 11:29 AM ^
I saw him blocking. On the tru Wilson td he was one of the blockers that got him in the endzone.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:59 AM ^
Glad you pointed that out; it was great play by Shea. He's a real team player. Hope you also caught the jumping up and down Shea had after Tru got the TD.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:16 AM ^
Why are we posting single stat lines from the box score?
October 27th, 2019 at 11:16 AM ^
I have an idea: one thread per game stat.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:23 AM ^
Dylan is the best QB on this team. Not after breakfast not next week.....NOW.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:32 AM ^
Shea proved his qb1 spot during 2nd half penn state and this game. Yes he did have a couple errors but we can't assume dcaf wouldn't make some head scratching decisions of his own given the situation.
October 27th, 2019 at 12:00 PM ^
Looking at next years team, with him at QB and who we should have back, I'm pretty excited especially now that we are on the plus side of the learning curve with Gattis's offense.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:32 AM ^
I thought he looked ok in the early going. His scrambling was effective. But there is a point in near every game where he freezes up and has a hard time making decisions from that point forward. At those points if he doesn't immediately get rid of the ball you can see that the play may end badly. He hasn't put together a full, good game this season.
He is not a great pocket guy and his arm is just ok. The run game is starting to round into shape, now they need to get more of a rhythm throwing.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:36 AM ^
Both of his touchdown passes were in the pocket I agree that he'll freeze up in moments but I do see some progression I'm sure it's a point of emphasis with this coaching staff.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:36 AM ^
Before the game, “ND is overrated”, after the game, “We beat a very good top 10 ND team”. Which one is it, make up your minds lol. I personally feel ND was a good team but they have no backup plan in inclement weather. If BK can’t get his pass game working the whole offense wilts and they can’t do shit. I think we were very lucky to get the weather we got, but the tenacity we played with would’ve led to us beating them in any weather.
October 27th, 2019 at 12:09 PM ^
“BK” is not something anyone says.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:54 AM ^
ND put up a fight between the hedges in a big time night game. They weren't overrated. They simply ran into a talented team who has finally started to put it all together, while at the same time being angry as a MF'er due to people questioning everything they work for.
