Shea: "R E L A X"
I'm glad he said it and I agree. I was at the ND game and found myself afflicted with a bit of BPONE, but he's right. Lets just get it rolling by the time the B1G season starts!

I think the ND game made us a better team. Whether that loss will come back to haunt remains to be seen.
Might as well take the hard games up front. It increases the chances of winning those mid-season trap games, imo, because of adequate battle-testing.
September 12th, 2018 at 9:30 PM ^
I've been shaking my head since it was scheduled.
September 12th, 2018 at 10:37 AM ^
Hey now, I resemble that remark
September 12th, 2018 at 10:51 AM ^
We're a bunch of psychopaths and assholes - I may be the latter, but at least I'm not both.
September 12th, 2018 at 10:42 AM ^
Laying an egg like that against Notre Dame(Offensive line looks awful, defense seems vulnerable when it actually matters) was the worst thing to happen after the complete shit bowl game. It'll get worse if they lose to MSU. People are frustrated, tired of losing meaningful games, and starting to wonder if maybe, just maybe the emperor has no clothes. This year is going to be pressure packed and telling fans to relax is not going to help the overall narrative.
September 12th, 2018 at 11:01 AM ^
If we were going to lose a game this year and still have a playoff chance, that was the one.
September 12th, 2018 at 12:09 PM ^
Hell, if we lose to Wisconsin we still might have a chance. Imagine we go undefeated in our division and beat Wisconsin in the championship game. The win and the loss against the Badgers would, in a way, cancel each other out.
If a team that gets into the playoffs with 2 losses, it's a team with Michigan's schedule that made up for an early loss. We're kind of lucky that ND and Wisconsin are earlier in the season. If it takes half a season for this team to get in a groove with a new QB, possibly young LT's working their way into the lineup, and a newish system, we have an opportunity to make up for it in our division and in the B1G Championship.
With that said, I really hope we beat the Badgers.
September 12th, 2018 at 11:14 AM ^
The defense gave up 3 points about about 60 yards in the entire second half and made multiple stops to give the offense a chance. Did it not matter then?
September 12th, 2018 at 11:22 AM ^
Defense played well or Notre Dame turtled? Open question and lets face it, when it was do or die time the defense died same as it did last year, you're kidding yourself if you're not concerned.
September 12th, 2018 at 11:42 AM ^
Troll.
September 12th, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
LOL, okay, sure.
Whatever makes you feel better, dude.
September 12th, 2018 at 2:02 PM ^
In "do or die time" the defense got a 3-and-out and gave the offense a chance to tie or win the game. What the hell are you talking about?
September 12th, 2018 at 4:13 PM ^
In the beginning of the game where they needed to keep Notre Dame from going up big in order to give the offense some breathing room, they gave up a ton of big plays and bad penalties. Yeah, they did what they had to do at the end of the game, but by that point I think the offense had proven it wasn't it's night and so ND didn't have to be particularly aggressive.
Not trying to concern troll, I just want to see some progress being made against some of the issues that plagued the team ever since Iowa '16 and I'm just not seeing it yet.
September 12th, 2018 at 6:32 PM ^
Lol.
You-“The defense didn’t play well when it was do or die.”
Other poster-“But at the end of the game, they forced a 3-and-out to give the offense back the ball...When they had to do that or lose a.k.a. do or die.”
You-“I was talking about the do or die times in the first quarter with 50 minutes left in the game.”
September 13th, 2018 at 12:43 PM ^
So down 21-10 in the second half after the offense sputtered on the first drive out isn't do or die time? I'd argue the second half was CRITICAL for our defense. They gave up 2 quick tds, and the defense settled down then I'd say. If the first 10 min were do or die time, then maybe we just shouldn't of came out the second half.
September 12th, 2018 at 11:30 AM ^
Uggh. I really want to move on from eating our young.
Most analysis of the game after the fact was better than we feared. We live too much by our emotions.
The team will grow. But even if we got 8-4 again, So what? We did in the 90's and the world didn't end. We'll get there. And, so far as we know at least, we run a clean program that neither lets kids go from jail to practice, nor allows them to be sexually assaulted. That means a hell of alot to me.
I'd rather have a decent to good football team that is clean than one that murder/death/kills everyone with tons of moral failings.
September 12th, 2018 at 11:34 AM ^
Dr. Toboggan, do you have any insight on Mac's transformation? Are you supplying HGH?
September 12th, 2018 at 12:51 PM ^
I have no idea what Mac is doing, and quite frankly, I don't care. He needs to just fess up to banging the Dennis Doll and be done with it.
September 12th, 2018 at 4:18 PM ^
Amen DrMantisToboggan. The negativity I see on this site from some so-called Michigan "fans" continually astounds me.
September 12th, 2018 at 10:17 AM ^
Yes, relax, we beat WMU 49-3 and we're going to do the same thing to SMU.
September 12th, 2018 at 10:17 AM ^
So Harbaugh controls the offense with some input from the other coaches.
There you have it folks, next time Michigan plays a good team and we run on 1st down, run a bootleg to the tight end on 2nd down, and play action on 3rd and long, you know who to blame.
September 12th, 2018 at 10:27 AM ^
You?
Ok I'm cool with that.
September 12th, 2018 at 10:32 AM ^
Sorry I don't run the offense. Harbaugh does, reading comprehension not your thing pal?
September 12th, 2018 at 10:44 AM ^
No but finding a patsy for my frustration so I can keep my unconditional love for our supreme savior JH .......I got skills.
September 12th, 2018 at 10:34 AM ^
If that first down run gains 2 yards, the second down play gains 2 yards and the third down play goes for a touchdown do I still blame Harbaugh?
September 12th, 2018 at 10:58 AM ^
Yes. The first two plays should have produced touchdowns as well, dammit!
I really like how some fans seem to think there is a magical "guaranteed touchdown every time" play that we avoid running, just to spite them.
September 12th, 2018 at 11:12 AM ^
Well, it works on my video game. I just hand the ball off to Bo Jackson and...28 moves later and rapidly pressing the b button I score a touchdown every time....until he gets hurt....which seems to happen every week. But still...
September 12th, 2018 at 12:14 PM ^
Right! We should totally have that play in our playbook.
Fire Harbaugh.
September 12th, 2018 at 10:40 AM ^
Obvious troll.
September 12th, 2018 at 11:45 AM ^
We scored 49 points against WMU, last time we scored more than 36 points was in 2016. Yea, the offense will be better this year.
September 12th, 2018 at 10:18 AM ^
I mean, the ND game wasn't as bad as a lot of people were saying (QB play wise specifically) but I am in no way relaxed about this year's prospects 1 week later after beating WMU by a ton.
September 12th, 2018 at 10:23 AM ^
We didnt look great by any stretch of the imagination. But had our defense not spotted them a quick 14 points, I dont think people would be panicking nearly as much.
September 12th, 2018 at 10:25 AM ^
Agreed.
Caveats aside (ND has a good defense) beating up on WMU doesn't make the offense good enough to win the big games this year. I'm not all doom and gloom, but I'm not relaxed because of 1 game against a middling MAC program.
September 12th, 2018 at 1:58 PM ^
However, this was the best the offense has looked since 2016, even adjusted for opponents.
September 12th, 2018 at 10:18 AM ^
Relax??!!! What? I'm not freaking out! Not at all?!?!
Don't I look relaxed?? I'm completely relaxed! (/blinks frantically)
I'm not adjudging my year a success or failure based on whether we beat MSU and OSU!! That would be weird lol ha ha!!! I don't get stomach aches before games!! I swear!?!
Completely relaxed, breezy. Really!!
September 12th, 2018 at 10:26 AM ^
You think im funny? Whats so funny about me? Do i LOOK funny!?!?!?!
September 12th, 2018 at 10:39 AM ^
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH
September 12th, 2018 at 11:06 AM ^
What he is saying is the loss at ND doesn't derail any of the team goals. Would have been great to beat them at TD Jesus, but UM did not start the game as expected and dug too deep of a hole. Having played team sports, a wake-up call like that is sometimes better long-term than the opposite ... as long as the players face the adversity and work even harder. The Florida win last year masked some real issues that did not get addressed right away and lingered far too long. This season should unfold more like 2015 with improvement every week. But big difference in this 2018 team versus 2015 is a better QB and more offensive weapons at RB & WR, so a higher potential ceiling if they can keep improving each week.
Go Blue !!!
September 12th, 2018 at 10:21 AM ^
That's funny, mineral king said the same thing about a week ago.
Everything is good in the hood. Whatever will happen, will happen, what won’t, won’t. I miss my homies on here. Wish I could say more, just RELAX. ;)
September 12th, 2018 at 10:53 AM ^
Good pick up - was thinking about his post as well. I am shocked that I had to scroll this far down before somebody picked up on that.
September 12th, 2018 at 11:17 AM ^
Came here to say this. Scrolled to check first. Glad someone else picked up on it
Btw somebody oughta tell Shea to banish that word from his vocabulary. After 10 years of marriage I’ve learned that telling someone to relax NEVER works
September 12th, 2018 at 11:54 AM ^
Shea is doing some first rate trolling of Mgoblog.
September 12th, 2018 at 1:15 PM ^
I wrote it like 15m after the op, it's just everyone wants to get in under the first few posts, and then there was some much needed Bolivian.
Also, besides this similar word usage, the screen name and the receiver group insider info, the only other interesting linkage is mk announcing he was off the board a week before practice...and I don't think anyone outside the program knew SP was doing a week of Rangers practice at that time until several days later.
September 12th, 2018 at 11:13 AM ^
Shea Patterson is the Mineral King?
September 12th, 2018 at 12:09 PM ^
North campus - you are geographically out of the loop. Shea = MK talk is old news.
September 12th, 2018 at 12:26 PM ^
Yep, surprised it took this long to get caught. The MK saga just got a little more interesting....
September 12th, 2018 at 12:46 PM ^
and i'm sure shea, with practice, games, class load, and apparently media interviews, has plenty of time to schlep around mgoblog with 5 different usernames, logging in and out and commenting back and forth between his many accounts.
so whatever people think of me, MFan1984, skypanther, etc. it's probably safe to say If Shea = MK, then MK does not = all those other accounts.
if MK is not shea, then ok
September 12th, 2018 at 10:21 AM ^
Calmer than you, Shea.
September 12th, 2018 at 10:28 AM ^
Telling impatient people who have endured 1-13 stretch against their arch-rival to "be patient" after an opening game that exhibited the same primary issue has the last umpteen years is not productive.
If you want to appease fans jaded over 14 year of frustration, do it on the field.
Edit to add: Especially when the "Be patient" is coming from someone who got here eight months ago.
