"Ok, all in guys...on three....we're tough" - R. Day in the lockerroom.

Seriously,  can't imagine Saban, Smart, Urban, Kelly,  Harbaugh or any other experienced leader being triggered like this.

Here’s all I need to know. Even with our couple of issue we have with the line, we’d have beat ND somewhere in the neighborhood of 35-10. That wasn’t a good game and sure as hell wasn’t “an instant classic” like people are saying. Right on Q, buckeye fans are saying ND is the toughest team they’ll play all year. ND will do ND things and drop a couple more games. We’ll see how tough OSU is after their bye. I totally look for Maryland to go full Oregon on that defense. Sam Hartman’s a journeyman college qb who looked average at best against a D that wasn’t a shit show. OSU was gassed, hands on hips and grasping for air by games end. They had no more in the tank. Not because ND is Georgia, because they’re soft and out of shape. Our issues are Xs and Os and has nothing to do with S&C.

Meh. I thought the one Ryan Day did immediately after the game was much better. He nailed the high-pitched, choking-back-the-tears hurt little boy persona much better than this guy did.

When you are not tough but claim to be-it's beyond silly...it's embarrassing. Alabama and Georgia ascended to the top of the college football world because their 5***** guys were required to play like it. Day allows his elite talent to be entitled. The past two years Michigan has beaten the snot out of all that OSU talent with their 3 & 4 star guys by playing hard and smart. In general, Day is not a difference-maker.

OSU's receivers have been crazy good the last [5+] years.  Chase Young and the Bosas were amazing talents and played like it, but they have so much talent that they almost can't play up to it unless they win every game.  You have to wonder with the transfer portal and NIL if they have to coddle their five stars and it makes them soft.  They're recruiting ranking are ridiculous compared to Michigan and ND.

247 OSU recruit rankings

2020: 4, 8, 15, 29, 37, 98, 148, 150, 151, 168, 184, 211, 242

2021:  1, 2, 6, 7, 9, 11, 37, 47, 49, 55, 57, 72, 101, 124, 147, 160, 208, 221, 224

247 Michigan rankings

2020: 122, 123, 134, 137, 147, 180, 219 227, 232, 238

2021:  33, 38, 88, 102, 213, 237...

247 ND rankings

2020: 23, 57, 62, 65, 13, 149

2021:  87, 91, 93, 95, 117, 133, 153, 180, 242

OSU should be blowing teams like Michigan and ND out of the water, but they aren't.  OSU fans on Reddit are making a big deal of Day's 49-6 record, which is crazy, but he really should only have a max of 3 losses given their talent level versus the competition.  He's 1-3 against teams with comparable talent.  (Clemson 2x, Alabama and Georgia)    ...and theoretically OSU was more talented than both of the Clemson teams.

The ND-OSU game was a gift from the gods.  I'm loving this.

Great info and thanks for sharing this!  I could not agree with you more.  As much as I love to see OSU lose, this win for them is just keeping the Buckeye Nation narrative that their team is elite even though a lot of them were doubting their eliteness prior to the game.  I will give them some credit for pulling that game out but nothing on that field Saturday night looked elite.  Ryan Day right now looks like a man under immense pressure that knows with one slip up, his fanbase will be right back where they were after the Michigan and Georgia games last year.  He has this delirious thought that in order for his fanbase and the country to see his team as elite, they have to be considered tough.  No one in the country including a lot of his fanbase look at his teams as tough.  They do have a lot of other amazing strengths, but Ryan Day continues to push the tough mantra which is why I think OSU winning that game is going to do nothing for that program as far as this season goes.  If Ryan Day loses to Michigan this year, I am not sure he is going to be capable of handling the pressure he will be under.  Let's face it, he got lucky his team was gifted a spot in the playoffs last year after getting blown out at home and getting some fortunate losses from other playoff contending teams.  If the Buckeyes fanbase didn't have the though "well we should have beaten Georgia" to tout as their accomplishment last year, this year would have started out as a hot box for Day.  I can't wait to see how they come unhinged when they get their first loos whether it be soon or the last weekend in November.  Go Blue!

I'm not impressed by Day's win resume at all. He's lost to Clemson, Alabama, Oregon, Georgia, and Michigan twice.

Ask yourself this - what's is Ryan Day's best win? Two narrow victories over Notre Dame in the non-conference? Beating Wisconsin in the B1G championship game? a 3 point win over Utah in the Rose Bowl? 2019 Michigan?...That's it...otherwise he's dunked on a bunch of shitty B1G teams with his historically unprecedented recruiting classes.

I can’t find it on YouTube anywhere, but there whole Ryan Day “tuff” schtick made me think of a SNL Weekend Update with Chris Farley as Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf yelling, “I WANT HOLYFIELD!”

The funniest thing about "Ohio against the World" is that that kind of sentiment is usually reserved for people who have been slighted in a very real way. Ohio State has been a top five team for at least a decade. Networks and the NCAA fawn all over them. Officials bend over backwards for them. FFS, they were in the CFP last year. This is how you see yourselves, Ohio State? A disenfranchised team that can't catch any breaks?

Agreed Wendy. Even after kicking their ass for 2 straight years, the powers that be still rank OSU ahead of us the majority of the time. Based off talent I’d say it’s deserved, based off of toughness…nope. Our team echos a coach who’d pull his own tooth, OSU echos a coach who belongs in the nfl. Urban was a sleezebag but was tough and his teams reflected that.

It's really good that no one of note is inside Ryan Day's head.   Lou Holtz.. lmao.. I couldn't believe this.   Holtz is such and ND homer that he makes Desmond appear to be a Michigan contrarian...

I have to say, when he said "we've only had one bad half in the last three years" or whatever, I would think you would have to start with first half against Northwestern as the all time worst half of that period, not either of the Michigan games.

That was one of the most ridiculous displays by a college coach I can recall seeing.  Some senile guy makes some mild cracks about his team, and rather than brush it off with at most a snide remark, he goes on an extended rant about toughness.  Wow.  Talk about someone hitting a nerve.

Jim Tressel drank wine coolers, that was common knowledge. So, makes sense that Ryan Day drinks spritzers. But not the Malort spritzer. That's too tough on the palate.

Deep down....Day knows that if he doesn't beat Michigan and can't win a National Championship... he's going to be run out of town and will be considered a failure by bucknut nation...

his seat isn't hot yet, as far as his employer is concerned, but in the back of his mind, he feels the pressure...... JH and the Wolverines are living rent free...
