This was expected.. in case anyone was wondering.
January 5th, 2023 at 6:59 PM ^
Expected by who? Just wondering….
January 5th, 2023 at 7:01 PM ^
Anyone paying attention. He accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl a month and a half ago.
January 5th, 2023 at 7:48 PM ^
He’s a 5th-year senior who just had the most productive season of any WR in the Harbaugh era. Did you think he was coming back for year six?
January 6th, 2023 at 8:15 AM ^
And Harbaugh mentioned this was Bell's last year in a presser during the season.
January 5th, 2023 at 4:46 PM ^
Gonna remember him fondly. What a career of highs and lows and highs again. I’d take 100 Ronnie Bell’s.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:02 PM ^
Yup, one of my favorite Wolverines of all time. Just loved watching this guy - he stepped up and gave us a chance to win that TCU game even with all of the early misfires.
And was the ultimate proof that recruiting rankings are guidance not gospel.
January 5th, 2023 at 6:12 PM ^
I see you approve of OSU recruiting (all WRs). I’d take 2-3 Ronnie Bells a year max.
January 5th, 2023 at 7:59 PM ^
As long as 25-30 of them were 6’6”, 320 pounds
January 5th, 2023 at 8:20 PM ^
And his brother
January 5th, 2023 at 8:23 PM ^
"Highs and Lows" sums up his career. Perhaps only Braylon Edward's career was more bipolar.
January 6th, 2023 at 8:30 AM ^
Yeah, for as many memorable big time catches he had, he equally had a big time 3rd and 8 drop.
January 5th, 2023 at 4:47 PM ^
He was recruited as a 3 star and played like a 5 star. Can't say enough about watching him play.
January 5th, 2023 at 4:47 PM ^
Wasn’t he actually un ranked when recruited and then bumped to a 3* because he committed to Michigan?
January 5th, 2023 at 4:49 PM ^
Yeh, that's what I remember - he was primarily a basketball player I believe.
January 5th, 2023 at 4:53 PM ^
Pretty much. Courtesy 3 star given to any scholarship offer to a high major.
January 5th, 2023 at 4:56 PM ^
One of the great lines from Gerdemann in his Michigan Mondays:
"Ronnie Bell is a two star (quoting whatever recruiting service), that's two stars more than you. . ."
Ronnie will go down as one of the best captains this team has ever had.
January 5th, 2023 at 4:54 PM ^
I still can't believe nobody else recruited him to play football out of HS. You could tell from his Hudl video that he was a baller and he proved that far beyond anyone's expectations. Hope he gets drafted...he will succeed no matter what he ends up doing.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:01 PM ^
I’ll be interested to see what his measurable test out as in the NFL Combine.
I vaguely remember that being one of his “concerns” coming out of high school on top of playing in a region that isn’t typically known for powerhouse football.
Glad he proved all the recruitniks wrong.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:18 PM ^
His 40 will probably top out in the low 4.5s which is not great for NFL wide receivers, but everything else should be fairly good - he's a really good athlete. He's got an insane vertical and good short area quickness - I think he could stick around the league for a while as a slot receiver.
January 5th, 2023 at 6:03 PM ^
Well, depending upon who you believe, Jerry Rice ran between a 4.55 and 4.59.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:16 PM ^
Played like a 4 Star. Great guy, good player.
January 5th, 2023 at 4:48 PM ^
As an Eagles fan I'd love him as our slot receiver next to AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. Like Michigan, the Eagles love to run the ball and run the QB (along with screens) and a great blocker is really important.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:06 PM ^
Since you mention a potential fit, I'll ask here: what NFL comps do folks propose for Ronnie? As a Seattleite, I'm partial to Tyler Lockett, but curious to hear others.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:24 PM ^
I think Lockett is faster and a more dangerous athlete in open space but Ronnie is slightly taller. Not a bad comp though.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:30 PM ^
I see Ronnie Bell as comparable to DJ Moore. Great hands, horizontal quickness, and elite body control.
Bell lacks Moore's top end speed & has a slighter build though.
January 6th, 2023 at 7:53 AM ^
Ronnie Bell is a Doug Baldwin clone in playing style. He’ll need to put some weight on for the league because he isn’t an absolute burner but he can have the same type of career if given the opportunity.
January 6th, 2023 at 11:52 AM ^
Oh, that's a good one. I only started watching Seahawks games the last few years, so I forgot about him.
January 5th, 2023 at 4:51 PM ^
Good luck Ronnie!
January 5th, 2023 at 4:52 PM ^
Thank you Ronnie. Leadership and toughness defined.
January 5th, 2023 at 4:55 PM ^
Go get it, RB.
January 5th, 2023 at 7:06 PM ^
He's a WR.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:01 PM ^
Thanks for providing this link and very interesting to realize that Ace was fairly spot on regarding his attributes and abilities.
Rated him a 4 star.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:58 PM ^
Don't the writers put a glossy standard on every recruits writeup? Re-read the ones who didn't pan out and you get the similar flowers thrown.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:02 PM ^
Wow. December of 2017. If you want to feel old...
Also, check out that last paragraph - M still pursuing "WRs JaMarr Chase and Chris Olave" - whatever happened to those jokers? As well as the reuniting of Eyabi Anom - aka, Okie. What a fun trip down memory lane.
January 5th, 2023 at 6:01 PM ^
Damn bag men.
But reality is they picked the right offenses to showcase their skills. OSU may have had the best WR crew in history last year with Olave, JSN, Wilson and Harrison Jr sitting on the bench. That's 4 1st rounders.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:06 PM ^
From said post…
Sam Webb posted that Bell's commitment won't stop Michigan from continuing their pursuit of four-star WRs JaMarr Chase and Chris Olave, either.
January 5th, 2023 at 10:38 PM ^
Olave, Chase, and Watkins all at different times were considered heavy favorites or lock to come to Michigan.
January 5th, 2023 at 6:38 PM ^
Thank you for posting that, so many entertaining takes!
So happy for Ronnie to declare, he was a champion for Michigan both on and off the field, an incredible teammate that I hope has a long and healthy career in the NFL.
January 5th, 2023 at 7:59 PM ^
Wow, that “ComputerEngineer” guy’s takes just got hotter and hotter.
January 5th, 2023 at 4:57 PM ^
One of my all time favorites!
January 5th, 2023 at 4:58 PM ^
So proud of this guy. Hope to see him do big things in the NFL.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:00 PM ^
I know it was expected but I was hoping he would stick around and play a year with his brother.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:03 PM ^
Go forth and succeed young man — thanks for the efforts and memories. Go Blue!
January 5th, 2023 at 5:04 PM ^
A great Wolverine who I will always think highly of. Thanks for everything, Ronnie.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:04 PM ^
"Those who stay..." poster child along with Mike Barrett.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:05 PM ^
Don't forget Mike Sainristil.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:12 PM ^
I wish him a long, healthy, successful career
January 5th, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
Between the drop at Penn State and his injury in the first game of the season Bell experienced two of the lowest moments a player can have during his college football career. And yet he bounced back strong from both. Truly an exemplary player and more importantly person. He may not own a bunch of entries in the record books but he's an all-time Michigan great. Best of luck to him in the NFL and wherever life takes him afterward.
