Rick Neuheisel suggests the NCAA should go after Harbaugh for their tobacco policy

Rick's hate for Jim holds no bounds.

I once felt like he got a bad draw getting fired at UCLA over his NCAA basketball pool and lying to the NCAA.  Now I understand why no one had his back.

I did not hear it, though I figured this was the case.  They were ridiculing the NCAA over the Ferris State thing last week.  I enjoy Full Ride and don't really mind Neuheisel despite his dislike for Harbaugh.  He is generally pretty up front about his poor relationship with Harbaugh when ever he talks about him.  That is  different then many commentators who clearly can't stand Harbaugh but act like they are being impartial when they talk about him.

Just listened to this segment. This was an absolute nothing burger.

Neuheisel has been worse than anyone when it comes to the sign stealing scandal. He's been insufferable. Full Ride used to be one of my favorites shows on XM, but had to dial it back. His hate for Harbaugh just bleeds through the radio and him and Childers have been acting like such bitches the past month, but this was not worthy of a post.

I don't recall anyone inspiring such doggedly consistent and petulant rage in this sport as Harbaugh has.  For whatever reason, he's turned so many otherwise purportedly level-headed men into Captain Ahab.

Look, I need to say this. I've been following this board for years and years. Every time I see your name, I want to message you. However, I'm not usually logged in/always forget my login details. But here we are, right now.

I'm the biggest Perfect Strangers fan you will ever meet, unless you are. I'm 45 and my brother and I used to tape all of the episodes from TV. I think we had about 12-15 VHS tapes, and we then had a catelogue of what episodes each tape held. To this day we constantly quote the show, send .gifs, etc. etc. I've actually been banned from 2 separate Pearl Jam message boards under the moniker of Balki. Look, I'm not looking for a response, I'm just waving my freak flag. All the best to you, Cousin. And if you're as big a fan as I am, "Well done, son."

Well -- To be fair......  (to be faaaairrrr....)

It IS forbidden to use tobacco on the sidelines by the NCAA.  Even if you believe this is a "think of the children!!" level of absurdity, it is a rule and Jim frequently flaunts it with a huge wad of chaw in his mouth.  (It is almost exclusively home games and seemed to disappear completely for a bit...but he must be off the wagon.)

As a former smokeless tobacco user I can empathize as it was hard as hell for me to quit, but Jim could easily survive 3-4 hours during a game without -- heck he could even slip in a dip during halftime in the locker room....

In the truth is stranger than fiction category, my very vague memory tells me that the NCAA suspended the Ferris State coach following its National Championship last year due to two players lighting cigars in their locker room after their win in 2022. The game was played at a high school in Texas and the school also had to pay over $15,000 to clean the locker room of the cigar smoke "damage."

While I think this penalty was completely crazy, there is more to the story. After Ferris won their first national championship the year before, players were smoking cigars in the locker room, which is a no-no in that facility. They were told that if it were to happen again, there would be consequences. Fast forward to last year, when they won their second national title, and players did it again, basically thumbing their noses at the facility and the NCAA.

Now, you can argue that the penalty itself was ridiculous, but they were warned about doing it again.
