I’d like to add the 2022 celebration as an honorable mention to your list. It’s almost #1 in my book as the 9th consecutive trip to Columbus for our small and hearty group. I’ll relegate it to honorable mention since there were probably less than 5,000 Michigan fans that took part in that celebration at the shoe.

1. Haskins jumping over Cam Brown like a Koopa.

2. JJ to Johnson and Cam Brown whiffing on the tackle.

3. Edwards 75 yard run

4. Blake’s 22 yard run after Zinter went down

5. Mikey’s PBU

Noteable mentions.

Hutch pointing and warning Munford of his destruction and then making good on that warning

Cam Brown getting bullied by our OLine for fucking with Roman then proceeding to cry after getting hit with the penalty

I missed Cam Brown this year…a Michigan Legend.

I am a bit biased because I was at the game Saturday and wasn't at the other ones. But in terms of pure elation experienced:

1) Rod Moore interception

2) Cornelius Johnson TD #1 in 2022 (I was so worried before this and this relieved some of it)

3) Huge Corum run in 2021 after Josh Ross stuff. When I began to feel good

4) Will Johnson interception

5) Donovan Edwards TD #1 in 2022 (called game)

Double post -- I will say for those that enjoy this sort of thing. 11W "writers" are having a great time rationalizing this loss right now saying Michigan won't be a top 15 team next year after seniors and NCAA sanctions.

It's a shame they have to rely on the NCAA to do what they clearly can't :(

(I don't think the NCAA is going to punish us further imo)

1 Any play Michigan makes

2 11 Ws melting down

3 11 Ws melting down more

4 11 Ws coming to acceptance

5 11 Ws says, F that they still cheated and were gonna continue investigating to prove it!

There were much more impactful plays over the past three years, but the one that is indelibly lodged in my brain is the deep ball to Cornelius Johnson down to the 2 yard line in the second quarter of the 2021 game.

After we went up early, Ohio State did their Ohio State thing and Garrett Wilson made an insane catch to make it 10-7. Sort of felt like "welp, they've just got dudes that we don't." And then Cornelius beat Denzel Burke in press man coverage, Cade put just enough air under for CJ to run underneath, and CJ laid out for the catch and slid through the snow-flecked turf for the catch. An incredibly cool looking play and it was the moment I thought "oh shit we're not going away today."

Blakes long run to start the 2nd half in 2021 was a very big play imo.  That got us right back into Ohio States heads after the halftime talk.

So many, its Michigan making the big plays now and thats just always been the difference in these games.

2 - "they run it again.... Donovan Edwards... WHOA! Can they catch him? No!" 4Q 2022

5. JJ TD passes to CJ

1) 2021 - Josh Ross stuffs Henderson for a 2 yard loss on 3rd 2 forcing OSU to punt and hope to begin

2) 2021 - Haskins rushes for the final touchdown, OSU lets him in and you can see the defeat in their eyes before the clock hits 0:00. Hope is confirmed

3) 2022 Sainristil breaks up Stroud's endzone pass to Stover forcing 3 points AGAIN

4) 2021 - O-JA-BO! David Ojabo's sack sets up 4th and long with under 1:00 to go. Game is effectively over with OSU down 15. Even this OSU offense can't make the comeback. Celebration begins. BPONE IS FINALLY DEAD

5) 2022 - Edwards 85 yard touchdown run. Cements the idea that no matter what the OSU offense can muster, Michigan will answer emphatically. This is no 1 year fluke, this is a pattern

HM) 2023 - Overall victory. You can take this team's coach, you can take their focus, you can cause all the chaos possible and it does not matter. The culture is too strong, the team is too unified and they will overcome

I don't know, but an honorable mention for me has to be the Mikey Sainristil hit in 2023. Didn't impact the game too much, but I yelled as loudly for that as anything else. Same goes for the Josh Ross stop on 3rd down in 2022.

1) Corum's 22-yard run after Zinter injury

2) Hassan Hurdle

3) Edwards 75-yard run

4) "Blake Corum, Blazing speed!"

5) JJ's laser TD pass between 2 Buckeyes' heads to Roman Wilson.

Honorable Mention: "WIDE OPEN!", Mikey's PBU

Buckeyes suck, but JSN's crazy catch in 2021 was insane.

I don't know if I can rank, but my top 5... that come to mind.. assuming just the past 3 years. Not "ever"

1. Corum 22 yard run after Zinter goes down.

2. The final throw by Stroud short of the line in 2021 - it was the moment it FINALLY locked up the win. Something about that was so liberating. I just didn't believe it was happening until that play was short, even up 2 TDs with 1 minute to go.

3. Rod Moore Pick. I was so nervous that we were going to blow it. I was pretty frustrated at the 2nd and 3rd down calls on the prior drive. One roll out by JJ with the option to pass/run and we get that last first down. Also, I'm no X and O expert, but Corum didn't bounce the 3rd down to the right which appeared to be wide open for him... he ducked back inside for no gain. Not a knock on him, but... all of that was leading to.. GUYS!!!!! WE'RE ONLY UP 6

4. The first Donovan touchdown - I think that was the moment that really let us know that OSUs defense was a complete joke.

5. Mikey's breakup in 2022. It was emblematic... slayed multiple dragons that day, and he led the way.

Underrated plays:

- Keeping MHJr IN BOUNDS on that 2nd down pass on the last drive. He didnt even bother to fight to get out of bounds and the defense held him upright.

- Johnson blowing up Egbuka who immediately called out the next play. Reminded me of 1997 with the undercut hit on David Boston --- am I the only one who thought of that???

- HUGE catch by Johnson on that dangerous throw by JJ to get to a 3rd and 1 on the final drive. If he doesn't catch that, OSU gets the ball back likely with tons of time and timeouts.

I love all the plays - there are too many.  O-JA-BO was amazing as it was climactic, Edwards long runs were daggers, and Rod Moore's game ending pick was glorious.  I could list 30 plays here easily that gave me such joy.  Instead, I will list one from each game which I believe were the highest leverage turning points in The Game allowing UM to seize control or take momentum to the finish line.

2021 - Josh Ross stuffing OSU on 3rd and 2 out of halftime

2022 - Sainristil pbu in the endzone on Stover

2023 - Corum TD immediately after Zinter injury and OSU game tying manball drive prior to that

Every play is important in games with essentially equal talent on the field, but these plays seemed to be the highest leverage moments where the tide turned in UM's favor.

Any key play from 2021 far eclipses anything from the last two years. For me, that win was so much more satisfying than the last two simply because it was the win that broke three  OSU streak of dominance over us.

For me it's hard to top the "Blake Corum 22 yard TD, immediately after Zinter breaks his leg" play.

I love the patience, the cut, the burst, the power, the score, and the celebration. There's something odd about that play, though, that I noticed live and now focus on every time I see the replay.

It looks like there could have been a violent collision at the goal line (or just after). Did OSU #41 hold up at the end instead of diving at Blake? Or is the angle deceiving and he had no shot to make contact?

I feel like most players--especially a hated rival--would have lunged at the runner's legs to 1) knock him out short of the goal line or 2) cause a fumble through the end zone for a touch back.

The OSU DB just slowed up and ran out of bounds behind him. Was it because of the horrific Zinter injury he had just seen? Or did he give up on the play?

Or am I wrong in thinking he could have made contact?

Rod Moore's interception reminded me of Courtney Avery's end-of-game interception of Braxton Miller. Both were diving catches at the turf. Both preserved a 6-point win against the Buckeyes.

A Top Five is tough, but before getting to that I'll mention my favorite Eff-You One-Two:

  1. At end of Third quarter, Roman Wilson digs out a first down against pretend-tough Josh Proctor, who can't stop the forward progress but finishes the "tackle" after whistle. Colston Loveland reacts by exhorting crowd, and Klatt comments as we go to commercial "Wow, how about the momentum shift in this building ..."
  2. Coming out of commercial, Instead of turtling, Sherrone calls the half-back pass to ... Colston Loveland, sustaining the mood and maintaining the momentum.

Top five for me:

  1. Hassan's Hurdle
  2. Sainristil's Stover Stop
  3. Hutch's "I'm coming" pancake rush
  4. Corum's SIX FIVE TD run.
  5. The Wiiiiiide Open TD pass in Columbus.
